- After re-reading this story & finally seeing some comments I want to say I am thankful that people are caring. I am a diabetic and I am now afraid to take my diabetic medicine. I have been worried about it since I had the problem this past spring with my thyroid med. My TSH shot up to 55 on day, my Dr called me to repeat it 2 days later it was 77..normal is approx. 0.1 to 4.5,(depending on the machine doing the reading. I knew I wasn't feeling well and had only missed one day of taking my synthroid. Me Dr. ordered a new Rx and told me to stop taking the pills in the Rx that I had..I am better now but I still worry because me Synthyroid is made by a company near Chicago but when I called to ask them were the plant was located that makes my med, they told me "it is privileged information". I still worry everytime I take my meds now that someone is wrong with it. I feel sad that so many people have taken these tainted meds that Glaxo made. I wonder how many people died taking these tainted or over/under pills that didn't have the right properties. I think our government should shut this company down. ..but then, they probably have lobbyists who have given money to the politicans who will vote in their favor. What a country!

- Until the profit motive is taken out of health care, there will continue to be abuses like this.

- Bunch of greedy SOB's in Glaxo deprive American citizens of their jobs and selling inferior quality drugs... The best friends of India and Puerto Rico... They really contributed to their economy...
Toothpaste made in China... Hope no melamine or similar cr@p in it... It's getting harder and harder to find american-made oral care products or vitamines... I hope this greed won't bring them happiness... - Reply to this comment
- The only way this can be stopped is how they would do it in China. Execute the decision makers from the top down. Corporations expect immunity and no accountability except for some money paid by shareholders. CEOs think they are untouchable.

- 90 million dollars? for doing her job and doing what was right? There is something terribly wrong with that. Being a Whistleblower apparently pays well.

- Did Cheryl Eckard know there might be a big payday for her when she pressed the lawsuit and action? Without knowing this, it's difficult not to believe that she did it for the money.

- I can't believe that I am the only person who has made a comment on this story. I guess some of you don't care where your medicine is made or by who and under what conditions. Me, I have thrown out any products including my toothpaste that was made by Glaxo..

- I would like to see Scott Pelley do a story on all the Rx medicines made in the country of India..my diabetic meds and other meds are made in Pune, India. I have times when I feel my meds are not working right. I also had a bad experience with my synthroid, its made by a company near Chicago but I don't know where the plant is located or in what country. I think this is a very very very important story. I believe that 80% and perhaps more like 90% of our meds are made in other countries, countries where it is almost impossible to find out what is going on inside the plant that is making the meds. This whole story scares me to death...and perhaps taking the wrong medication will cost me my life just like it may have already cost other people there lives. I hope Mr. Pelly reads this comment and investigates our medicine's further... I think this is just the tip of the iceberg.
