- This is a bigger issue. Why are illegals trying to cross the border anyway? Instead of outsourcing manufacturing to Southeast Asia, why are we not fixing a corrupt Mexican government and outsourcing jobs there? If we are trying to fix Afghanistan and Iraq, why not Mexico? Unbelievable.

- a real piece of garbage. i served in the US army for 25 years and i started with korea in 1950 and ended my career at fort benning and i disagree with pelley as far as this subject goes. i really miss the old guys but like me, morley, mike and the rest deserve their retirement. i have other things to cry about but not this. poor coverage.

- The woman who married an illegal immigrant had several choices. First, she married an illegal. Second, when he was deported, she and the children could have left with him. She chose to stay. He chose to re-enter the US illegally, again. He died.
from what I have seen and read, everyone who entered this canal did so on purpose.
When are people going to realize that every choice comes with consequences. Quit trying to blame the consequences of our choice on someone else. - Reply to this comment

- The first sentence uttered was a lie. The new law DOES NOT give the authorities the ability to descriminate. I can always count on 60 minutes to give a total liberal side on every subject. I am sorry these people had to die... but California and other border states are strapped for cash taking care of those illegal aliens that are already here.

- Nice hatchet job on America 60 Minutes. A very biased boo hoo story. Not once did you blame the criminals/morons/idiots that take the risk in order to come to this country illegally. It was all the fault of those mean Americans who won't do everything possible to ensure their safety. I'm actually surprised you didn't suggest a bridge be built so the poor criminals/morons/idiots would face no danger when breaking the laws of this country. How about putting the blame where it belongs? They gambled and lost. If I entered their country illegally and demanded rights, I would be thrown in jail. Why should they get a pass in ours? They should stay in their country and demand their governments do what is necessary to ensure their prosperity instead of sponging on the American people.

- Are you really reporting on making a canal safer so illegals can make it to the U.S.? Why don't you just tell them to bring ladders while you're at it so they can climb the fences? Oh my gosh, let's give swimming lessons on their side, yeah. What part of ILLEGAL do we not get? How do we defend ourselves when we have you, mainstream media, to contend with. You try to paint pretty pictures of this and your crayons are beginning to bleed! You have gals touting that their illegal husbands work hard, instead why don't you ask them where their money goes. Get real, we all know they send it back to Mexico to their families there, they line up at the post office on Fridays and as they don't pay taxes (oh gosh, let's just tax legal citizens MORE!)they can come over here and give birth for free not to mention other services that legal citizens HAVE to pay for - and they sure as heck aren't investing in America, for crying out loud...how much do we as a nation have to swallow before we stand up and take our country back? LEGALLY!!! Whose side are you on? IN ENGLISH - tell them to GET REAL AND GET LEGAL and then "come on over".

- Criminal activities come with risks. Robbers are sometimes shot dead by store clerks or police officers. We do not hand out bullet proof vests for them. They are called "illegal immigrants" because it is ILLEGAL for them to enter the country in this manner.
