Yeah, like I'm going to take Ritalin, Adderall or Provigil (all essentially amphetamine stimulants). It's not like I'm not already wound tighter than a spring. Stimulants, even too much caffeine, leave me too hyper to focus on anything other than moving, walking, chattering and wiggling.

Students who take these drugs without a legitimate medical condition to justify them are idiots, pure and simple.

Drugs destroy peoples lives.

They do it one of two ways, quickly or slowly.

Universities and Colleges should be aggressively educating students about the serious risks associated with stimulant abuse.

And the prescription drug industry is very corrupt, pushing all kinds of highly addictive 'medications' that are also ruining millions of lives.

The drug industry is a house of cards waiting for the right District Attorney to investigate and finally knock down for the good of the country.

Lots of drug company executives should be in prison and nowhere else.

"smart drugs" Ritalin and Adderall = pharmaceutical grade Meth

Just as addicting, but the youngsters must think it's safe because they don't have to stick a needle in their arm. Welcome to today's new "crack" type epidemic. Meth use is down, that's because they have found a pill that does the same thing.

Talk to your children people.

AD, "...situational ethics?" well what is law for?

"...most of this year's graduating seniors at American colleges have illegally used prescription drugs." It certainly appears that these college seniors have no problem meeting the criteria of "end justifying means", the hallmark of situational ethics.

Perhaps "hedonism" is stretching it for the use of drugs like Ritalin and Adderall for these purposes.

People have used amphetamine 'diet pills' to enhance study since the 1950's. The questions I have are whether they work for this purpose of study and what are the long term effects? The World Chess Federation is wrangling with whether or not to do drug testing. Common knowledge is that nothing you take can make you smarter, but that could prove to be outdated knowledge if these drugs really have a positive effect.

If the statistics in this article are even half accurate, we are, as a nation, in a serious state of decay. We are consumed by hedonism and situational ethics. John Adams said about our nation and constitution in 1798, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion...Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
