Scott, great story. There have been some good stories out of Asheboro lately.

Kysloc, Apple workers are in one of the towns mentioned in the piece - Shenzhen, China - one of the towns that the pickles are shipped to. But the people that make your iPhone can't afford those pickles. And I'll bet that a higher percentage of those people drive Fords and Chevy's than wherever you live.

THAT IS THE CRUX OF THIS ARTICLE. Central NC has lost tons of jobs - first the textile business (Cannon Mills moved out of NC 20 years ago), then the furniture business moved out of High Point and Thomasville. Seeing Klaussner selling to China is great news.

In addition to electing a new President in 9 days, we will have a new Governor as well (incumbent chose not to run, since she couldn't win). We need to ensure that NC (and the other 49 states) have an environment that is both pro-Company AND pro-Worker.

How many of the people in that town drive foreign cars? Use non- Apple/Motorola/Microsoft products? Buy Honda engines instead of Briggs? Dring foreign wine instead of USA wine? THEIR opinions don't count. I am involved with millions of $ in import/export - if we Americans want to keep our jobs, BUY AMERICAN. plain and simple. Too many Americans whine about jobs going overseas and at the same time they buy the foreign products!

I have bashed Scott for horrible bias reporting, missing the mark. I have to say the economic story in NC he did was the best he has done. Thank you for reporting down the middle for us to think and reflect. Refreashing and I hope a trend that will continue with his work

Sugar Berry sure said it right - our political parties are constantly trying to one-up one another. Anything presented by one party is put down by the other, and they accomplish nothing. They really need to work together to help the American people. We are hurting and have lost faith in our government.
