"Republican Congressman Mike Rogers and the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Dutch Ruppersberger, believe that letting a Chinese company build and maintain critical communication infrastructure here would be a serious mistake."

Possibly, but it's nice to read about actual bipartisanship from both parties, working together for the common good of this country for a change.

the statement the guy in the video made about no US companies being able to do what Huawei does is absolute BS! The only thing that Huawei can do that comanies like Infinera and Ciena can't do is consistently give their products away for next to nothing... which is exacty what Huawei is able to do with the financial backing of the Chinese governement.

To those of you who don't believe that Huawei is run by the Chinese government you should wake up to the realities in this world.

Huawei has alredy been found guilty of economic espionage on a grand scale... do you think they "saw the error of their ways?" - Stopped burying your heads in the sand.

Why is this issue so difficult for corporate America to understand. Good paying employment is being exported to the tune of 6,000,000+ manufacturing jobs lost. Then being forced into minimum wage opportunity or nothing at all, the American consumer is then faced with the necessity of purchasing products imported "back" to American soil and then being accused of causing the situation by purchasing imported products which are becomming barely affordable and US made products barely available.

And, then these briliant people have the gall to imply that we don't understand economics and should applaud the free enterprise that is undermining our families and livelihood. And, to make matters worse, objecting to the grief being imposed makes US socialists while cooperation with repressive totalitarian governments is bravo business.

This nonsense is simply rationalization to justify corporate greed.

Question for republicans: Why are you willing to create middle income and a demand based economy abroad, i.e. China, India, Brazil, et. al. while ignoring and denouncing it's validity at home and substituting self serving trickle down on US? It is you that doesn't understand economics.

I'll go to the ends of the earth to support and applaud "venture" capitalism, however, I'll also go to the ends of the earth to denounce and boo "vulture" capitalism.

Network operators control the security of their network, not hardware vendors. If the networks are built right there would not be a way to get logical or physical access to the equipment, once installed. This is just politics.

It's too bad no one will see this, but shame on 60 minutes! Propaganda to the tee. The report was one sided, fear mongering, and racist. We all know American cars suck. American cellular technology lags behind the rest of the world because of corporate greed, and a lack of innovation & motivation. The American people suffer from almost Third World standards due to this. American pride has turned into American racism. Sadly 60 minutes is no longer a news program, but a mere media puppet for corporate/lobbyist propaganda, which is now our "government." Too bad.

Why is it that corporations and repressive governments cooperate to the extensive degree that appears to be evolving ... the new world order?

If corporations would stop their war against the American worker everything mentioned here could easily be manufactured in America ... it is American innovation and technology afterall ...?

The great American give-away because of corporate hate of American workers. When things go wrong whose children will they demand defend their interests?

Steve Croft's comment that "the only US Company capable of competing with Huawei on a global level is Cisco" is false. Ciena, Corp. does so every day in virtually every nation on the globe. Way to do your homework, Steve.
