I am glad he is letting us know what goes on behind closed doors, that is why we should limit term to just two and get these crooks out, but we won't we keep voting these guys in over and over while they learn the game and become millionares at our expense. The truth is we are not the best company in the world anymore everything has gotten rotten.

Romney wants to cut Capital gain tax to zero so he only has to pay tax on his presidential salary. But he has payed tax on his overseas accounts in 2010. His rational to extend the Bush tax cuts is for the millionaire to invest in American jobs. How does having overseas accounts do that?

The part that struck me was "Congressman don't actually read the bills they're acting on".
If that is the case, they are not doing their jobs.
But beyond that, there is a simple solution....that is to simply "digitally compare" the lines of the prior Bill to the one being actively voted on (i.e. drafted vs. final version).
There are several PC utilities that can do this, even Excel, and can kick out a "line-changed" report.
That way, the changes will be obvious BEFORE being voted on, to block shenanigans.

Lesley Stahl acts like her egg just hatched. What's with the unprofessional, eyes wide open, astonishment when she hears something she thinks she should react to? I would expect that from a nun in the...no even a nun from the 12th century would have more common sense & wherewithal.
Leslie, at 70 years old it's real hard to be cute, let alone ACT cute.

"The most notorious and crooked lobbyist of our time." Nonsense... If ""way to many" politicians couldn't be so readily "brought and paid for"; this wouldn't be a problem. Elect politicians with a deep desire to serve "The People" and that are honest and have integrity.. "Walla"! Very few lobbyists would be making their living "trading on influence", in Washington.
------------------------------------

Hollif50; There is no way in Hades that ANY honest politician could be elected today.

Back in the 1980's (actually all through the Reagan and Bush administrations) a fight to control campaign financing was waged. It was in the news on a daily basis, and most articles accurately pointed out the dangers. Many bills containing very good solutions were offered yet every bill was either totally rejected or watered down to the point of ineffectiveness. There has been no effort to correct the problem in years; as a matter of fact the SCOTUS killed any chance of reform with their citizens united decision. The ONLY way anything can be done now is through a constitutional amendment. Unfortunately, that would not be possible short of another revolution.

I'm afraid that our right to select our congressmen has been handed to the wealthy corporations just as everything else has. All of you're children and grandchildren are destined to servitude in the future.

Compare today's America with the sovereign rulers of 16th century England
In England The King was the supreme ruler and he had lords, dukes, etc to enforce his laws.
America has gone from the people having a president, congress, and Supreme Court to represent them (by virtue of the power of their vote) to being taken over by several huge corporations. It is only a matter of time until that control is held by ONE corporation's CEO (read KING)

BTW we will always have "johnmac808's" around. The most dangerous and scariest thing about that is that most of them really believe what they are saying.

And we call Afghan corrupt?? What galls me is that the Repub/Democratic people in Congress are in bed together in private. In public they make speeches, make accusations againist each other for their own private motives but then get together for drinks, whatever at the end of the day. Their employers are not the American people but the ones that pay them over their salaries.

60 Mins never reports anything wrong about the left. Never. What's her name was so quick to point out that Abrahamoff was a Republican. Do I need to remind you of the hundreds of scandalous things the left has done? Please. It never gets reported in mainstream media - particularly 60 Mins. It is factual that the medial is primarily democrats. That is a fact. Republicans are evil, the military is worse - 60 Mins is destructive. All I want is balanced reporting. Stay off crack "Junkey".

I decided to watch 60 Minutes to see if things have changed. Unfortunately nothing has changed. They are the same left wing news organization I stopped watching years ago. 60 Minutes will do anything to keep democrats and Obama in power. They despise republicans and the military. They are purely a propaganda tool for the left.
Granted, what these lobbyists did was wrong and they should be prosecuted. But, can we see some balanced reporting please? And stop looking for everything the military has done wrong.
