More than enough articles and facts that show why college is a BIG waste of time for most. College teaches you to conform/think in the box and is for followers:

A person's status determines their place in society. Anybody who is working class is wasting their money on education. It has always been that way. People are now just finding that out.

college is only worthwhile if they learn reading, writing, and arithmatic and training for specific fields like doctors or engineers. For those with visions of new products, college is unnecessary; there are plenty of startup funding agents out there and he is only 1. All look for being a partner in that really great new product. He is merely one of hundreds. There's an old proverb: for every 10 proposals 1 is worthwhile pursuing; for every 10 worthwhile one will make money. For every 10 profitable ones, 1 will make you rich.college is still the networking ground for getting into the upper class. pity its so over priced.

college? Really, Civilization went from the Agricultural, industrial to the information age. I recomend to anyone considering college and their so called higher education to read the book "The new profecionals" if after reading that book they still want that paper issued by the institution so be it...

College is only worthwhile for professions that need that specific education, all othrers getting pc education are merely meeting grounds for the upper class. thats all he was saying. there are hundreds of funding agents looking to provide money for new businesses and thats what he does. there's an old saying in new business startus: of every 10 proposals, 1 will be worthwhile; of every 10 worthwhile projects, 1 will make money.
For those with new visions, colleges are unnecessary, only funding and assistance. But for the rest, education in reading, writing, and arithmatic are vital and for the specific professions absolutely required.

I've heard the European model is to college educate a smaller percent of their population but subsidize their education more. It might be that we should be taking a smaller percent of the top high school kids for higher learning and sending the rest to trade schools. A good trade can pay well, it doesn't equate to minimum wage.

Yeah sure its worth it for specific degrees
Engineering
nursing
pharmacist
doctor
etc

We really need to discourage people from taking the social degrees.

Just like with affordable housing, the government is waving the carrot of the American Dream - while making that "carrot" ever more elusive. How ironic liberalism can be.

What Peter Thiel should be investing his billions in is building a University, staffing it with capable, brilliant and enthusiastic educators, and offering a free education to students that are hungry for knowledge and learning.
This would be a more lasting legacy than discouraging the youth where education is concerned and encouraging them to drop out.
Simply funding a select few to try out their ideas backed by his financial support seems like an extremely narrow and short sighted way of thinking to me.

Yeah. It's a great idea; someone wealthy enough to pay student six digits to get out of college. This would had been good for me since I'm stuck with high student loan debt.
