Torture, dear...I hate to tell you and perhaps Leslie Stahl should take note...we have a president who has murdered a minimum of 1400 human beings by using Predator Drones. Is that preferable to questioning these terrorists..and BTW, the War on Terror is not over, despite the infantile protestations of a juvenile president..or his administration...we will be attacked again by Islamo-Fascist terrorists...9-11 is coming again and the Obama administration has tied our intelligence community's hands by allowing Muslims within the structure of this community...tell me again how idiotic and how stupid this move is...please tell me...tell me again that waterboarding is torture when Khalid Sheik Mohammed slit Danny Pearl's throat on camera and sawed his head off...you want to talk about stupidity and ignorance...when these people want all of us dead...you're the moron, honey, no one else...and trust me, I spent enough years in the intelligence community to know ignorance on a massive scale when I see it...

==================================================

Why do you equate the two ...Ignorance Zion style...

Drone killing is one thing,torture is another...

Daniel got what he went looking for in Pakistan,he is part of Pakistan now...Get over it.

You may be familiar with massive ignorance ....lololol

But you never evaluated your own abyss of ignorance,until you came to CBS blogs for me to remind you ....

You still have to learn a great deal demented thy chosen one...

Well, I shouldn't make any comments regards to this area, because I won't blame the CIA's trying to get information from known or suspected terrorists in order to prevent another terroristic activities within the United States. If there is another terroristic attack similiar to the 9/11, for a fact, there would be a public outcry than the CIA would be under pressure.

LtSmily, don't you understand that torture is torture, no matter how you slice it? If we're not poking enemy combatants with hot irons and opt for something like the waterboarding, instead of medieval techniques, that is STILL TORTURE, which was a WAR CRIME, under OUR OWN DEFINITION! As to the efficacy of methods of torture like waterboarding, the jury is still out there. This man may claim it works. Countless experts claim otherwise. One thing's not in doubt, anymore, however - we, the U.S.A., have long since veered off the path of taking the moral and exemplary approach. We, therefore, should not be surprised if one day one of our intelligence agents or soldiers is subjected 'enhanced interrogation techniques', a.k.a. torture, by a foreign government.

I am certain attacks on myself will be forthcoming but ...

If you have to deal with the dirty you will have to use some very strong soap. These "detainees" were not going to spill the beans in any other way. They go through training so as not to give away the farm. VERY hard, tough training.

This is another one of those nasty moral questions, like capital punishment. The big 10 Commandments says it's a sin to kill but what do you do with a mass murderer? Keep him healthy and happy, supply him with a flat screen and lots of tasty snacks for the next 30 years? Hamurabi had it right - an eye for an eye. Simple, swift and move on to the next case.

Torture is bad and a lot like killing. Causing excruciating pain and fear is wrong. But what can you do? The bad guys are NOT going to tell you what you want to know. Drugs MAY work but they may not too. Torture nearly always gets the job done - a dirty job admittedly. Would I want to be tortured? Not on your life but then, I won't be doing anything that might dictate that I should be.

These are VERY bad guys, willing to kill us in droves. These guys lie like most people change their underwear. It's a daily habit.

If you HAVE to have the truth, unfortunately, torture is a time tested method for obtaining it. Lastly, NEVER ever think that the other side would hesitate to use such methods or FAR WORSE should they capture US and desire information. There are plenty of primitive methods those guys employ that permanently maim and/or kill so in light of that, water boarding is a walk in the park - a water boarded victim will recover fully to hate us another day. Don't feel too sorry for the enemies of our country. They'll do far worse to us. It still doesn't make it right - just necessary.

Really? It's okay for the terrorists to cut off innocent civilian's heads off, publish the video on the internet, torture civilian contractors that are kidnapped, etc. and you want the USA to be more "civilized" in its counter terrorist intelligence endeavors? What ugly part of "war" do you not understand?

Actually, Leslie Stahl did a good job of trying to insult and bait Rodriquez but in turn was able to get a really good and clearly informative interview with Jose Rodriguez. He was perfect in his patriotism and performance. He was smart in disclosing and getting all the legal approval before he went forward in obtaining all the information from the prisoner. I believe his work saved many lives in our country and abroad. It is really bad for me to know that our president "no longer takes prisoners" but has all enemies killed. This is not only inhumane but not smart stopping the chain of information from prisoners. It is remarkable that we found Osama Bin Laden and that the order to kill him was made considering the tone of our current leadership. Jose Rodriquez has taken a great risk and giant step in writing the book. I am grateful to him for his courage and this clear and informative interview.
