It seems to me that there are pieces missing from Mr. Simon's story. It does not appear that what is happening is about persecution of Christians by Israel - I would have liked to hear more about all the factors that have played in to the situation as it is today. And Mr. Oren seemed to have been unfairly addressed.

Thank you so much for sharing this story. It is about time more information about the oppression the Palestinian's are suffering from the Israel is being discussed in a broader audience. I for one was appauled that the Ambassador for Israel would try to flex his power and call the CEO of CBS to stop the story. If others in the US are not questioning why we support Israel so much I have no idea what will.

The reaction of the Israeli ambassador is consistent with the insecure racism that has governed his country since its formation. As abhorrent as anti-Semitics and anti-Semitics are, imprisoning Palestinians in their occupied land is even more abhorrent in an age that the criminality of walling ghettos for any people is no longer debatable. Hitler did it and lied about it - the Israeli ruling class and its supporters do it with self-righteous smiles.

Bravo Bravo You have finally found the story. We were there 3 years ago and saw the same thing. Why is no one else telling this. For Isreal to build a getto is very very strange.

Your piece on Christians in "The Holy Land" was shocking in its underhanded assumptions and politically cynical point of view. There is no country called "The Holy Land." The area in question is named Israel. Israel won the West Bank in a war started by the neighboring Arab nations. Too bad; they lost. It's Israel now. (Yes, Israel has been reprehensible about this piece of land, but that is another question entirely.) Moreover, referring to Jesus as "Christ" is conferring upon him the status of God. Jesus is not god; Jews like me do not believe this, and neither do the many Muslims of the region. You were merely playing to the hometown crowd in a craven attempt to attract American Christians to your point of view. This was by far the trashiest piece I have ever seen on 60 MINUTES. Making fun of the Israeli ambassador certainly backfired on you. He knew what he was talking about, as the piece certainly showed.

Thank you 60 Minutes for being brave enough to show the real impact of Israel's oppressiveness against Palestinians. Christian and Muslim Palestinians alike experience the same from this government. To see the Israeli ambassador use the same tired talking points of "Islamic extremism" being the issue was despicable, but of course, expected. Yet the Christians interviewed spoke to the reality of what the real problem is for both Christians and Muslims, that being the continued occupation and oppression of Palestinian land and its' people.

Thank you for telling us about Christians in the Holy Land in an engaging way. I particularly thought it important that you include the story of how the Israeli ambassador tried to suppress the story. Rather shameless just trying to shut down any talk of the subject so brazenly.

I agree this was a hatchet job! How fortunate you were to go into the holy sites and take pictures, say your prayers and tell your story. You forgot to mention that the holiest site to the jewish people is one they cannot enter. The holy of holies as it is called is under palestinian rule and Israelis are not allowed into their own site. Ask why in your next story. Show both sides. Someone with your experience should be a better journalist.

Just don't understand why we keep pouring billions of dollars into this apartheid country. Bill Maher said it right. We are a nation of mostly stupid people that gets milked by the rest of the world.

thank you Bob Simon for your report, and thank you for confronting the Ambassador's outrageous comments about Israel Christians being driven out by muslims. It is heart breaking to see the walls surrounding the houses and horrible it must be to go through check point after check point to visit family or even to see a doctor. It is like a prison or ghetto.
It seems like hate, intolerance, greed, and power continue to take over such a religious and spiritual area.. it is very sickening that so many people have to suffer because of fear and love of power of a few.
