- Anything can be toxic if we don't know how to control it instead of it controlling us.

- Simply change the market for sugar cane from sweetener to bio-fuel. How hard is it to be a BRIC? Green good transition. Saves lives in America--Saves the Planet. Why not?

- My predicatment is this...I know that sugar is bad, when I eat a lot of sugar I fall asleep (none of this Sugar High people talk about...at least not anymore :( ) So I switched to diet sodas and other products. To tell the truth I lost a lot of weight, 50 lbs back in middle school. Now I am hearing that the diet stuff, aspartame and phenylalanine is really bad for you? So what are you supposed to do then? Its pretty confusing.

- Type 2 diabetics get off the sugar and start eating right. Their symptoms disappear, and they get off insulin. Need any more evidence?

- USA, get off the hummingbird food! My physician put it precisely: The softdrink industry is the next Phillip Morris. Stop drinking Coke, and stop eating McDonalds.

- Well, We have had "evil Oil", "evil coal, "evil" wall street, "evil" insurance companies...so...One must conclude we are being set-up for "evil sugar" so Obama can regulate (and TAX) us more. On the bright side, we could set up a fund to supply Obama with a years supply of sugar cookies.

- Dont just blame sugar, our government is killing us from birth. The widely accepted food pyramid is killing everyone, I am diabetic the first thing on the food pyromid is carbohydrates they require 51% of your daily intake should be sugar, wheats and grains 33%, fruits and vegatables. and only 16% protein. This is killing people with sugar overload we need to start eating more protein, vegatables, and natural fruits. And less sugar. Sugar is toxic no matter how we get it. Carbohydrates are sugar.

- Of course sugar is toxic. It causes cells to inflame, and this can lead to cancer. Alcohol can do the same thing. Sugar should be used minimally, like bad fats, or not at all if possible. I can tell the difference during the winter after the holidays when my sugar intake increases. I am crankier, more depressed, gain weight of course, and have sleep problems. However, there isn't much to do in the winter except medicate with a little sugar, although I don't indulge as much as the average person. The over indulgence in sugar and salt cause many problems. This is why I bake/cook from scratch, to control the content.

- It looks like the paid shills for the sugar industry are out in force today. Don't be fooled by their attempts to cloud the issue.
