- Enough with the softball interviews! Eric Kantor, as Lesley Stahl said, is trying to soften his image and she let him get away with it. She asked him tough questions, he didn't answer any of them but instead of pressing him, she took us on a feel-good tour of his house. I watch 60 minutes to get the hard-hitting, can't-find-it-anywhere-else truth. No more celebrity interviews, no more human interest. Investigative reporting, you used to do it better than anyone. Get back to that.

- This was a seriously BIASED interview. It was so clear that Mrs. Stahl and the editing crew at 60 minutes wanted to portray one side of the debate.
The fact is that the US debt is completely out of control. Government spending is out of control. The rate of growth of the US federal government is out of control.
What sane person can look at the rational facts and claim that the problem is that US citizens are not taxed enough?
45% of the total tax income of the federal government comes from personal taxes. Why is that segment always targeted by Obama? Why not tax the multi-national corporations that pay little to no taxes, like GE?
Even if you were to raise personal income taxes, would that really raise REVENUE? Higher tax rate does not equal any higher COLLECTION of money. This has been true for the past 60 years, where the federal government collects about 20% of GDP in taxes, no matter if the highest tax rate is 25% or 70%!
Right now, the federal government is spending 25% of GDP, while only collecting about 16% of GDP in taxes, which has caused the 1.5 trillion dollar shortfall this past year. So WHY would anyone looking at truly solving this deficit problem keep bringing up raising taxes, as if that will solve anything.
Why can't the federal government just shrink by 5%? Just cut 5% across the board, and see how fast we get the deficit under control. How about federal employees also getting their salaries and benefits reduced to match those in the private sector? And while we are at it, how about if federal employees could get fired if they don't perform at work?
Obama said he needed the stimulus to keep the economy going during the recession. He used the stimulus money to advance his agenda, and has hired 300,000 more federal workers. Meanwhile unemployment is at 8.6% - and that is despite the huge unemployment extension that keeps unemployed people off the statistics.
You don't give more booze to a drunk. You don't throw more money at a compulsive spender. The democrats couldn't even come up with a budget the first two years of Obama while they had a super majority!
There is a reason people like Eric Cantor were VOTED into office. He represents the silent majority of fiscally conservative, rational people who understand the bigger picture, and want the government to live within its means, just like we all have to do in our personal lives.
Blaming the Republicans is a convenient way to hide the failures and poor management under this current administration. Even now, Obama is more concerned with campaigning than he is with really getting the economy back and people working.
Shame on 60 Minutes for not portraying this bigger picture of the true problem. It is more than just "tax break for the billionaires". Sad Sad Sad. 60 Minutes used to be a serious journalism show, but this interview shows it is a farce. No wonder CBS has so few viewers! - Reply to this comment
- I usually don't bother watching CBS reporting because they are much too liberal but, the piece a few weeks back about inside trader information was very good. I watched this piece hoping it would be balanced but, I could quickly tell it was meant to make Cantor look bad. Ms. Stahl kept stating that Cantor wouldn't compromise but, I don't want him to compromise. I want congress to stop all of the spending and work towards getting us out of debt. This is just as important as creating jobs as far as getting the economy working! And speaking of compromise, President Obama is the king as far as NOT compromising. Look at the health care bill rammed down our throats. He went behind closed doors to work out deals and wouldn't even discuss compromise with republicans!

- It's time for an "American Spring" where Occupy people push for campaign reform.

- I wonder what our democracy would look like if representatives were selected from a jury pool and paid about the same as well? They would most likely want to get down to business and get home.

- Mr. Cantor works for and is an agent of the Jewish Lobby, he doesn't represent his state.

- This piece just demonstrated just how out of touch Mr Cantor and the rest of his ilk really are - they just do not get any Americans that earn less or have a net worth of less than $1M. It's pathetic that people actually vote for these people thus voting against their own best interests (foolish). Mr. Cantor did nothing to erase his personna of out of touch, snob, jerk (and I am being kind).

- Poor old Eric - He was B******-slapped by Stahl. He looked like a deer caught in a car's headlights. Why can't Repugnants admit their supreme leader did what was said, Reagan raised taxes. There is plenty of video showing what he did but Repugnants can't admit it is true. I guess it's more important to lie for their past actions while they demand the truth from others. What a shameful cast of characters. Hey Eric TELL THE TRUTH!!!

- This story is a poor excuse for investigative journalism. It was blatantly obvious the piece was edited and twisted and spun from a biased pro Obama radical left perspective. Lelsie Stahl demonstrated a willingness to ignore or refuse to listen to the answers to her questions because they were not the answers she wanted to hear, and was unable to mask her displeasure with what she perceived as incorrect responses. Stahl obviously has some issues with accepting or dealing with anyone that does not share her liberal beliefs and values. The calm and patient manner that Cantor responded to the latent hostility of Stahl must have been very frustrating to the 60 Minutes staff.
