- So let me get this straight, the TVA (aka federal government), is responsible for the Kingston spill and we're supposed to trust it to run our health care. Curiously enough, 60 minutes failed to mention that little fact.

- The media must share in the blame for this fiasco. We've never heard of coal ash because the media has relegated investigative reporting to bipartisan soundbites from the two major political parties. All the reporting now is after the fox has gotten into the hen house.

- Your presentation stopped short of the true reason for this coal mess. Politicians trump science for business interestd. Our representatives do NOT fund environmental protections or worker protections.

- Re: Fly Ash
I find fiction in your reporting on fly ash quite sad. There is no doubt there are some hazardous materials in them. The two ladies talked about the putting of fly ash in as a filler to make a golf course. By listening to them it is quite apparent they did not have their water tested, nor was that question asked if they did. The workers should have been protected, but apparently the EPA did not notify the civilians in the area of the issues. Shame on them. Shame on the utility that let this happen. If upset a lot of lives. However, if your going to put out a report, have someone who has a clue as to what is going on to do the story. I wasn't really wild about the industry spokesman, but he was right, it is just how he said it. Of course if this was dramatic, it would not be a story for you. - Reply to this comment
- As a resident of Alabama, I am curious as to where these dump sites are located. Could you please let me know?

- I would just like to say as a resident of Tennessee, that lives 5 hours away from Kingsport I have received at least 3 notices on my electric bill of increases due to the spill. Thanks. (sarcasm) Love to pay for corporate mistakes.

- This is a sad story. Not only for the inevitable health consequences, but also for the lack of forsight. If we continue to consume energy at the rate we currently due, then we will continue to compromise more important issues - peoples health. Whether it involves coal mining practices or fighting in wars we could avoid. Lesley Stahl assumed coal mining was inevitable in her story. Sad, sad, sad. We can do better!

- The city of Philadelphia Penna. has a coal ash waste land within 4 miles of city hall. Come view it, drive north from city hall on Broad Street and turn left at Roosevelt Blvd. Go 5 blocks and on your left is a wasteland.

- The EPA: our trusted regulators... BS! Those of us that inadvertently inhale cement mix while working, now need to worry more than just its obvious limestone irritants. Can a face mask or respirator prevent radiative particles from reaching your unprotected skin? No more coal (waste) ash in cement mix! Holy sh#t. Where have our politicians been???? -- duh: taking money from the coal industry!
