you say that guns shouldn't have been allowed to begin with. we wouldn't have the problems we have now. no. they'd be worse. no right of free speech. no right not to testify against oneself in a criminal proceeding, cruel and excesive punishments for minor crimes. people locked up and sent to penal colonies like australia and canada for being in debt and not paying debts. british troops (or German/Japanese) being quartered in private citizens' homes at citizens' expense. no free press. no right to worship as one pleases. no rights at all. none. and anyone who disagrees with the powers that be is rounded up and exterminated. without trial, along with their children, grandchildren, cousins, brothers, sisters and other relative, especially if they bump into one of the ruling class or even say a cross word to them. if you want that for your country keep it. suzieq, you are another convenient shill for the liberal anti-gun crowd. there is no loophole. it is illegal for a convicted felon or mentally-ill person to attempt to buy a gun from a licensed dealer. most private gun sales are between individuals who know each other and trust each other. but if the person buying the gun uses it to commit a crime two days, a week or twenty years down the road, it's not the sellers fault. ever. despite lawyers (liars) who want to make it so. and again, you call the firearms at the gun show assault weapons. they are not. they are semiautomatic weapons capable of firing only one shot at a time. they are self loaders and put a new cartridge in the firing chamber ready for the next function of the trigger. they are NOT, REPEAT NOT, asault weapons. and why shouldn't people be able to buy ammunition if they can buy the firearms legally?

you are absolutely a hopeless boneless dupe hofkurz. you don't think 18 year olds are mature enough to handle firearms? what about the millions of 15, 16, 17 and 18 year olds who fought for, and died for this country in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, The Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, Korea, Viet Nam and Gulf Wars I and II? students over the age of 21 who have obtained a government permit (that is unconstitutional on the face of it) to exercise their constitutional right of carrying a firearm should be carrying, not prohibited from carrying, as they are at Va. Tech and some other college campuses, neither are those professors and other employees of the universities who have obtained such permits. If they had been allowed to carry, instead of unconstitutionally being barred from carrying from some misguided effort, Mr. CHo may have still been able to kill one or two people, but not many more.

Mr. Obama, ms. pelosi, mr. reid, Mr. holder and many others in the obama administration and house and senate have repeatedly said, in public and in print that, if they thought they had the votes they would pass laws that would allow us armed forces personnel and police to knock down doors and confiscate all privately-owned firearms in America. Thank god they think they don't have the votes. And 100 million plus gun owners will be watching to see if they try, anyway. that's the reaason for the 2nd amendment.

ignorance, ignorance, ignorance. country with one of lowest, if not the lowest murder rate with firearms is Switzerland. Israel is close second (as far as street-crime type murders are concerned, unless you consider terrorist attacks street-crime type murders). In Switzerland, every adult over 18 joins the swiss army. they serve two years, then, on their completion of two years service, are issued a fully-automatic rifle and ammunition for it. until they turn 42 they are required to prove they still know how to fire and maintain the firearm every 3 months. many still keep their weapons until the day they die. almost no crime in Switzerland. Same in Israel, again unless you consider the terrorist attacks against israeli citizens that are orchestrated and funded by countries such as Iran and Iraq and Libya as street crime, there is very little such crime in Israel. all israelis are members of the Israeli Defense force and all carry fully automatic weapons with them just about everywhere they go. even to synagogue. they've learned they can't afford not to.

what huge guns are you talking about newswatcher? most of these weapons fire bullets that are less than one-fourth inch in diameter. some slightly greater. obviously you've never tried to buy a gun. it aint that easy. even if you are reclaiming your firearm that you pawned at a pawnshop for some eating money or to pay a bill, you still have to submit to an unconstitutional invasion of privacy to get the gun, that belongs to you, back. you admit you hate guns. well millions of us don't. and we have a constitutional right to own them and have them in our possession. until that right is rescinded in the constitutional manner it will still be a constitutional right. and that right never has depended on the US constitution for its existence. it existed before the constitution was adopted and ratified. and it will exist long after that document is dust (may it never be!!!).

what about the 82 branch davidians tear gassed and burned to death by U.S. Government forces in 1993? what about the 80 or so latin american (Puerto Rican) citizens torched in a night club in new york city by a guy with matches and a five-gallon can of gasoline. and, unfortunately, what about the 180 or so who were killed in Oklahoma City by Timothy McVeigh using several hundred pounds of ammonium nitrate? Mr. McVeigh was enraged that no heads rolled when the Branch Davidians were killed, illegally, by government forces? What about the 3000 or so people who were killed, illegally, by islamofascist terrorists, using what was it, two loaded Boeing 777s, in the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001 (9/11)? how many women did Richard Speck kill in chicago in the 1960s (wasn't it about 25 or 30). Even ate some of them. he never used a gun.

just as 60 minutes aired a show in which an alleged gunsmith converted a semiautomatic AR-15 illegally into a fully-automatic weapon. this was aired over national airwaves during the anti-gun clinton administration no member of CBS news was ever prosecuted for this felony offense. oh well, if clinton can lie under oath and get away with it because "everyone does it" whose going to prosecute CBS for breaking the law?
