You're right Mike! CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and FOX should all set an hour aside each day to applaud Obama and his wonderful record.....nothing remotely negative allowed. Honest reporting is over-rated and may allow for two sides of a story to be told...shameful! Let's eliminate any alternative thought or ideas. Let's just assume everything Obama says is true and salute proudly. Let's not question or debate his education, energy or healthcare plans as I'm certain they're 100% in the best interest of the country. Let's also shut down Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and anyone who could possibly poke holes in a Democrat's opinion. Any intelligent counter-thought should not be allowed as it is only protecting the rich. A $9.3 trillion dollar deficit over the next 10 years should be ignored because George Bush didn't have any fiscal responsibility either. Let's frame every argument against the rich and forget for a moment the role they have in employing people. Let's push bills through congress quickly before people have a chance to read and understand them. Don't ever let anyone tell you we already spend more per capita on education and welfare than any country in the world because it might interfere with our "hate the rich" agenda. Let's make government as big as we can so we won't have to have any initiative whatsoever. Let's throw out term limits for Presidents so we can have Obama the rest of our lives. I'm feeling this thrill going up my leg just thinking about it. - Reply to this comment
- And where was this boldness during the the eight years that Bush smirked and lied and brought this country to the brink of ruin?!?!? You folks in the MSM have zero credibility. Zilch, None, Nada.

- i love the fact that obama represented the Normal american people and said maybe the money hungry executives and new yorkers should take a trip to another state where people would be happy to make 75,000.00 a year without bonuses. These people are the last people that need bonuses or deserve them, they have a high hand in what has become of our economic situation. GO OBAMA!

- The "Punch Drunk Comment" was out of line. Obviously Croft did not like the comment Obama made about New Yorkers visiting Arkansas or North Dakota to gain perspective of how much money is reasonable. After visiting NY a few times, I think New Yorkers are in another world. Perhaps CBS should move to Arkansas to gain perspective. Regarding Obama smiling when discussing the big 3 and other times when he smiles. Watching him from the time of the debates, I have gotten used to "his personality" which invokes a smile when he is "thinking" about a response. I am used to it and welcome it. At least he is thinking and not squinting, smirking, and staring at the stars like the previous White House occupant.
I sure am glad we have a person representing the American People for a change and not just Wall Street, the Bankers, and Corporations. I pray this path we are on is successful and I think 60 minutes should do everything it can to promote confidence in this President. The media needs to bring back the same fundamentals it exercised during the FDR years, where they NEVER took a picture of FDR in leg braces or showed how handicapped he was. Seems the media was more in line with the well being of our country rather than ratings, Corporate Sponsors, and the Rich elite who have squandered the basic principles of our country for the sake of profit for themselves at the expense of the Average American. It is OK to criticize performance but not personal attacks like "Are you Punch Drunk"? Fortunately, this President came through a tough campaign and ignored the comment. However, Political Pundits like Rush Limbaugh will be playing it over and over and over with negative connotation. Hopefully, we will bring back the Fairness Doctrine that Reagan revoked. - Reply to this comment
- My husband and I were both puzzled at Steve Kroft's mannerisms and stuttering, and we wondered if he was not feeling well during the Oval Office portion of his interview. If he wasn't sick, then he was annoyed. Anyone know the back story? While walking around the grounds, he seemed his normal self.

- I have watched 60 Minutes for over 30 years. The programs and reporting have been
well researched and professional, most of the time. However, last Sunday, while watching the interview with President Obama I have to say that I was appalled at the tenor and demeanor of Steve Croft. In particular, during President Obama?s comments of drawing a comparison between the AIG debacle we are in and the challenges he is facing with the auto industry Croft?s reference to the President as appearing "punch drunk" was not only out of line but disrespectful and racist. I doubt that any serious journalist would consider this appropriate technique; moreover I don't recall that any of you at 60 Minutes ever spoke to the former President Bush in this manner.
The President?s demeanor, under the circumstances, may have appeared to some as light hearted but his statements regarding the severity of these circumstances were nonetheless spot on. I applaud the President for speaking through Crofts attempts to discredit him and instead directing his comments to the public.
For crying out loud, under Bush we had 8 years of "punch drunk" and "slap happy" while Bush looked the other way as the country began its decline to where we are now. Where were you then 60 minutes and Steve Croft with the kind of rigorous journalism we, loyal viewers, expect? - Reply to this comment
- I would like to express my distain at Steve Kroft's attitude toward President Obama. It was very obvious he is not an Obama fan. 60 minutes is one of my favorite shows and I would appreciate it if you would coach your reporters to do an unbiased interview. He attacked the President about his smiling and laugher when asked tough questions, the President was probably thinking to himself what a stupid question. If everyone had ALL of the answers what a great world it would be. We finally have a president who is willing to appear on your show and to answer your questions in length. Give the man a chance, he has only been president for 2 months. I would hate for you to force me to start watching Date Line.

- Steve Kroft's asking Presidcent Obama if he was "punch drunk" gives me the creeps. It's a question so inappropriate to the setting and the office that I fear for the future of serious news and inquiry. "Hard-hitting" questions do not have to be disrespectful to the leader of the free world.

- What an intelligent and articulate man. People who attack Obama for finding humor in the wretched meltdown he has inherited, are mean spirited Limbots. Cheaney should crawl under a rock and stay there.

- These actions, as well as his making our economy worse, making people more dependent on the government, his keeping his Blackberry for private communications, his desire for a civilian security force, etc. could very well be preludes to an upcoming Obama dictatorship. I am very concerned. Obama is clearly a narcissist as was Hitler.
You have truly lost it as most of you have on here. You are so used to being bullies and doing things the "white" way that you cannot fathom anything any different. Fear will drive you to all sorts of distorted thinking, as I read this post by this person it clearly suggest that some of you are just loosing it. Please seek help for your delusional beliefs before they lead you down the wrong path. You clearly have a misconception of was it real and what is not. - Reply to this comment
- Privately buying out on the credit default swap plan is still owing more than the sub prime loans. Paying up is to borrow more from selling their bonds to buy these toxic asset and we all will come out in the black instead of the red. There are still plenty of room at the old wooden cross for the AIG people. Forgive them. They know not what they are doing or even done.
Selling your goods is to let the customers buy into their money worth and you have have sold quality. Earned money now become capital money and the wealth of the dollar is both in its private enterprise and property. - Reply to this comment
- I said obama has a very nice smile and he knows how to use it. BUT does he have more in his head than those purly whites. I know we will have to wait and see as time goes by. I feel though that he is a puppet on a string, because he really is in over his head. Stop smiling MAN it makes me feel really scared and that you think with that smile we wont see that you are scared too.

- He has one foot in each camp. Typical politics. He's wishy washy, two faced, muslim or socialist, kenyan or American, black or white.the good son or the enemy. Are we sleeping with the enemy? Is he an intruder in our house?Time will tell. But when it does it'll probably be to late.I guess Monica is lucky she's not in the White House now.Bend over America, you won't even see it coming. Thanks to our politically correctness, don't ask don't tell policy, Our country is pregnant with 25 terrorist training camps. Thirty or forty thousand allah fanatics living and learning the art of killing infidels right inside our own borders. Do you have a terrorist living next door to you?I do ,there is a Hamas flag hanging in the window of the house 5 doors down from me. They believe Americans are stupid. Most wouldn't recognise the banner if they saw it. I know our government won't do anything about it, because America is in the hands of a bunch of pacifist weaklings.I'm just gonna sit on my defense until I need it,Then I'll go out like a real American who knows liberty isn't free. No polititian ever will or can save this country. Only people who have enough balls to stand up for what they believe in.It's coming to that. There are over 30 million of us who are armed and ready to take our country back from the liars and thieves who have infiltrated our political system, with the help of the wooses who are as un-American as any socialist or nazi or suicide bomber.Who would have ever thought that 44 would be the one to bring this fledgling country down. Didn't learn a thing from history. But then how many Americans even know anything about history.
Oh Well Rambling. Like my liberal Brother-inlaw says 'Why don't you give the man a chance'. And like I say I don't have a choice. So I'll just wait with the rest of America and see what damage this I D I O T will do.
Wow... man I think you have been watching too much battlestar galactica which by the way is a great TV show. Just wanted to let you know that you will never take the country down according to to you is only 30 millions with guns just dont forget that there 170 miilion left who probably are better shots than you so it would take them less bullets to ilimate you, plus as everyone knows always good always win vs evil. I just want to assure you you will never have to use you guns. - Reply to this comment
- Obama is a Great President. America is truly fortunate to have such a brilliant person in the Oval Office, especially considering the brain-dead dunce who occupied that office over the past eight years, practically destroying our country, economically and overseas.

- Steve Kroft has guts. I think it is great that he called BHO out about his girly giggling.

- Obama's giggle may seem a little strange to some and i can see how. I mean this whole economic crisis is bigger than most think. People are losing their jobs, their homes, life is becoming more difficult, it's predicted by the end of 2009 2 million jobs are expected to be lost. Obama has invested 6 million in riot equip., this clearly sets in mind that people are expected to rebel and desperate times call for disparate actions. This mess was brought onto us from a tyrant who ruled for eight years, and I hear most ppl say how much they hated the Bush Admin. yet most of Americans voted for him and kept him in power. Obama is going to do the best he can, but he needs to focus on one job at a time, the economy is most important right now, this mess took years to establish, its going to take years to get out of it. Its going to be painful. If you do research you can find the amount of jobs lost per city in the U.S.. Its easy to say everything's going to be okay, but if you were to lose your job and your troubles were to increase, what would you believe?

- Being a 57 year old long time viewer of 60 Minutes, I can honestly say, that after that horrendous interview by Mr. Kroft last night... I'm done with 60 minutes.
Steve had a look of extreme constipation and, almost like a look of hatred on his face throughout the interview.
He obviously was trying to play "the tough guy", but came off as an two-bit low-life ******* reporter, who lost several 60 minute fans last night.
60 minutes has other reporters who would have done a much, much more respectful, and professional job.
Obviously Steve seems like just another pissed-off Rethuglican.
THAT interview, and Steve's demeanor - Sucked.
It appeared to me that Obama finally lost it, after being brow beaten by that little sawed off **************, and how ridiculous his "attack" interview was - which of course back-fired on him.
SHIP MR. KROFT OVER TO FOX!!!!!! - Reply to this comment
- You must reat this and think of the implications.

This worried me as soon as our local news reported people going door to door here. I wondered to myself if these people were taking names and addresses of people who wouldn?t sign the pledge so they could be rounded up at a later date. Furthermore, most people wouldn?t think of the potential danger such efforts may present.
The forms have Obama?s signature logo . . . not a DNC logo, not the Presidential Seal.
These actions, as well as his making our economy worse, making people more dependent on the government, his keeping his Blackberry for private communications, his desire for a civilian security force, etc. could very well be preludes to an upcoming Obama dictatorship. - I enjoyed the 60 Minutes interview Steve Kroft did with President Obama.
Kroft is an even tempered man who doesn't attempt to "lead" an interview subject, he always seems neutral as far as projecting an opinion or expectation of an answer.
There are so many TV "celebrities" who have specific agenda's -- more to boost their personal ratings, than to ask simple questions and let the interview subject have the "spotlight".
Kudos to Kroft, 60 Minutes and CBS

I agree.
He asked the tough questions, but did it in a respectful and non-belligerent manner.
Very nicely done. - Reply to this comment
- Steve Croft.
Good grief. I hope you're happy about your little stab last night regarding our President's laugh. Really. I know you really weren't thinking that he was doing anything sinister. Wow did you show how much you were just waiting for an opportunity to take a jab and throw dirt on the President. You are the one who is punch drunk, obviously with the power you think you have to sit and disrespect the President and give any of his enemies (obviously you're one such) any fodder. People need to be able to focus, and you, unfortunately are one of those of the press who just want ratings, controversy and nastiness.
I think you should be ashamed. You are what is bad about 60 minutes, you and Leslie Stall. Really, you take yourself too seriously. Stick to asking serious questions that bring about real answers. - Reply to this comment
