I'm not sure how CBS defines an interview, but referring to this albeit great interview as Markopolos' "only television interview" is untrue. Rachel Maddow interviewed him nearly a month ago on February 4th on her program on MSNBC. Yes, it's pedantic to bring this up, but journalism is usually rife with pedants.

In the dubious act of Ponzi schemes, the last person loses. Three key characteristics would convince most investors into entrusting their savings to people like Madoff. These are trust, experience, and positive abnormal results. Madoff was able to demonstrate all three fraudulently well. This swindle could have been foiled a long time ago, but investors and regulators simply failed to ask simple, but relevant questions. C. Malgwi (PhD, CFE).

ANYONE with a triple digit IQ knows Madoff will never ever come clean. It is not within his capacity. He has plenty of stolen money socked away for his family.

He lied to his clients for decades. Do you honestly believe he would confess to a G-man?? He will never be outwitted....Only a stint at Abu Grab Prison (Rendition) would even make a dent in the fable he is weaving and rehearsing.

He is "Professor Marvel", the Great and Powerful "Wizard of Wall Street", a wimpy little Jewish Embarassment behind a curtain, exhibiting a stutter and a twitch when caught in his own prevarications,: A case only Sigmund Freud would be able to diagnose.

He had a very expensive addiction.... admiration, validation from others which he could never provide for himself....

What a song and dance production, this will be; starring... Jason Alexander!
To compensate them, the Victims as a group, should purchase the rights!

It is more than outrageous that Madoff is not behind bars where all his communications are fully controlled.

Secondly the SEC didn't fail to investigate the Markopolos analysis on their own as some in Congress and the media would like us to believe. The SEC was almost assuredly pressured to suppress the investigation by members on the Congressional Finance Committees who were the big time recipients of Madoff's contributions.
You can bet your now hugely depleted IRA or nest egg on it. When you hear the feigned outrage from Congress, you need to think about that.

EVEN BEHIND BARS MR MADOFF IS CONTROLLING ALL OF THOSE LOVELY DOLLARS YOU GREEDY, SECRETIVE FOLK WERE SQUANDERING AWAY. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO BEEN A PART OF THE TRAIL ON THE WAY UP. MADOFF WAS JUST ONE MAN, STEALING MONEY. THE GOVERNMENT DOES IT EVERY DAY. IT'S CALLED TAXES, PENSION FUNDS, INVESTMENTS, SOME NON TAX DEDUCTIBLE CHARITIES, ET.

I am a Madoff victim.

We have an established pro-active group of other former Madoff investors. We come together in an effort to find recovery and restitution. We offer support and share knowledge as we work toward a solution to this debacle.

If you are also a Madoff victim, please contact us at

Together, we will prevail?

Those fraudsters are clever, all right. And surely Madoff will contribute more mass to an economy plummeting in sickening freefall. But he's small potatoes, isn't he, compared to the collusion of some others that just blew the world to hell. Anywhere you go these days you hear anger boiling up. People are seething, saying these rats should be in jail.

Frank Rich (NY Times), once again, asks THE question: "Americans are right to wonder why there has been scant punishment for the management and boards of bailed-out banks that recklessly sliced and diced all this debt into worthless gambling chips."

Who's going to start going after the big bad guys? They've really, really hurt a lot of people. And they're responsible for the oceans of human misery roiling and deepening everywhere around us.

And when is the press going to add a voice to the chorus demanding bigger investigations and bigger prosecutions of that conniving scum?

The SEC has been captured for decades, the general public will never have representation as long as government employees and congress is allowed to do a bad job, cash their checks and walk away to work for their captors in the public sector. A most recent case is Tom Daskle when he lost his reelection bid and who he went to work for makeing 2 million last year, not hard to connect those dots. People are getting fed up with MEDIA not exposing the whole truth. Want your ratings to go up, bone up on market manipulation, take a long look at Morgan Stanley 150bbl oil and unregulated derivative trades thru ICE and CBOE. How about when Goldman Sacs started shorting CDS's, not hard to connect those dots either. Who would a person (or organization) be confronting if you did connect the dots. AIG's losses have been paid to BLANK, and actually came out of taxpayers pockets. Do a FOIA for that little nugget, if you can get it, it will start to connect some serious dots. The average american is so dummed down that they do not realize what a crummy job our media is doing. It is times like these that great men go to work, I would like to see one from the media ashes.

It concerns me that national news organizations are peddling Barack Obama videos. Never have I witnessed the "watchdogs" of American democracy being so smittened with a politician. While I agree his election was a milestone in the nation's history, I really have an issue with those who we expect to give us the facts resorting to hocking a politician's videos.

In some ways it appears that blinders have been installed, and objectivity has given way to celebrity idolization. I no longer expect unbiased and critical review of our president and his cabinet by any of the major news organizations. That is sad.
