- I do not live in Wilmington or Clinton County, but I do live in Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio. Which is a County right next to Clinton and are area is also affected by this company. I have many family and friends who traveled day in and day out to Wilmington to work. Are area is in such a bad state the Counties that were effected will probably not regain what they had. There is some many places in this area closing that people have lost alot of homes and have had to pack up and leave. DHL was wrong in what they done and they know it. People have talked about the Air Park, but the said truth is that there will probably be nothing put back in just like a lot of buildings and shop that have went out of business. My heart and prayers are with everyone.

- i sit here and read all the mean things that are being said and i cant help but feel sorry for those of you who would rather bicker about us in wilmington being over wieght or bush *** up or...blah blah blah. it boils down to 12,000 in wilmington and 1 out of 3 of those work for this company. you wonder and complain about 60 mins. doing a story. DO THE MATH!!
this is terrible. I own a once thriving resale/thrift store here and I can say that when the announcment was made I lost 80% of my business. i dont blame these people. I might not be in business long but I will still do whatever i can to help these awesome people so many of you would like to make fun of.
I had a meal at sugartree ministries tonight and its funny that i didnt hear one person complaining about losing there job or having to eat at a soup kitchen.
these workers are now my heroes and god bless them for the strength they posess.and to all you who want to make fun. ill say what sugartree says.....GOD BLESS YOU. of course they arent sarcastic like me!! - Reply to this comment
- Me and my father were deeply affested by the survivale of Mike O''Machearley. We would like to buy one of his knives not because we are collectors but because we both feel bad for him and would like to help him in his time of need

- Wilmington is a beautiful town with some great people and I think it is a model community to set an example of the revival of Main Street, USA. I have a few ideas about how we can turn Wilmington around. 1. The infrastructure is in place to service as a hub for merchandise delivery for eBay or Amazon shipping and consignment. 2. It is also has many vacant buildings that could be used for skills training, entertainment centers and food co-op''s. Think stone soup. 3. The blacksmith is one of many occupations that make a village and funding should be put forward on contract to assure the community has the fundamentals of a sound economy: Bakers, Butchers, Community Bank, Carpenters, Electricians... especially Factories that build solid sustainable products - things that last retain their value and provide for noteworthy export - solar wafer, wind turbine, and dirigible manufacturing. Make it all green powered. 4. Limit the work week to 35 hours. It may seem like shooting for the stars but you might make it to the moon. Blame won''t make it any better.
It would be on contract like a bond where the community would begin to pay the Fed back in 5 years.
Germany BTW has a far more robust economy because they couldn''t spend 50% of their tax dollars on the military. Something to think about next time a war rolls around again. Whatever the solution I pray that the citizens of Wilmington will remain strong and I hope you know that their are a lot of people pulling for your future success. - Reply to this comment
- I worked for Airborne Express for 24 years, starting when I was 18 years old. I worked at the headquarters in Seattle and travelled many times to Wilmington. When DHL bought Airborne, I too lost my job and many, many lifelong friendships. What DHL did was wrong. They took a U.S. company and drove it into the ground. Losing jobs for thousands of U.S. workers. It''s a shame that the good, kind people of Wilmington have to go through this.

- I have a family member that worked for DHL. We are in NC, and DHL not only laid him off. But did give him his last pay-check. I lost all respect for this Company. And to make matters worse, I am told that MCcain was part of this Company. After he lost the Election. I think there is some truth to this story.....

I would further like to let evryone know that we as a community are pulling together in the face of this crisis. More people are asking about volunteering (as I do) at sugertree ministries as well as donating. The Lord Provides, sometimes he uses companies as his tool. They all fail sometimes, only he endures. Please Pray for all our county as well as our town. If you feel called to help, please do. If you feel inclined to critisize and hate, ask yourself why. My family has been here for 170 years or more. We will continue to be here for many more generations, trusting that the lord will see us thru. I pray for you all, especially those who harbor such hateful and Ill feeings.- Reply to this comment
