what a lot of dimwitted people. I help animals because they can''t talk and have no choice, whereas we, have loud mouth and always have a choice.
thank you 60 MIn. for bringing this story.

I want to chime in on all the praise to Dame Daphne Shelkrick. I''ve been moved by other stories on 60 minutes, but after seeing it 21Dec08, I was far more than moved, I was motivated by the keepers. I''m 48 years old and until now, I didn''t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I think I finally grew up Sunday night and I don''t know how this 48 year old woman from Kansas is going to get to Nairobi, Kenya.
My spirit is much like that of an elephant and I''m certain this is where I need to be.
Now.....how?

While the zoo industry is spending hundreds of millions to house a handful of elephants for display (and doing a terrible job of that) - these elephants, who desperately need our help - our virtually ignored. Thank God for heroes like Daphne Sheldrick, who put the elephants'' interests first. Shame on the zoo industry, with their fat CEO salaries and pseudo-"conservation" goals.

Why are we going back in time? What happened to conservation and efforts to save wildlife from disappearing. The problem when you give a green light to murder elephants, all hell breaks loose because people are unscrupulous and there are no regulations to mind the store - so to speak.
How amazing is this woman and the keepers of the elephants. They deserve more than acolades, they deserve to see the law reversed.

This was an excellent story that points out the need to stop the sales of ivory NOW. I wish 60 Minutes would follow up with information on how we can do this by putting pressure on the CITIES organization in Africa, which lifted the ban on ivory sales. We are all one family, one spiritually-based creation, and need to love and cherish all creatures. Elephants are very special and don''t eat other animals. They need our love and support.
