So what should we call him? White? Black? Who cares? What does it matter?

Amazing to watch people here still arguing about the outcome of this election. Obama won fair and square and if certain people don''t like that because the outcome went against them, then they should move on.

It''s also patently obvious McCain lost because of a bunch of very bad decisions: Sarah Palin, Bill Ayers, "suspending" his campaign to sort out the financial crisis and most importantly not being the John McCain everyone remembered and respected before engaging in one of the worst run campaigns ever witnessed.

Game over.

President Elect Obama and his team did run an excellent campaign.

Two comments about the ''money'' issue.

This was the most publicly financed campaign perhaps ever as it was funded by small amounts from ordinary americans like me. I had never donated to a campaign before but I wrote to Senator Obama and asked him to run so I wanted to donate and volunteer. I am just an example of many, many people in our country.

The other point overlooked about the ''money'' that was raised is that many of us made a point of responding to the sleazy campaign that McCain ran by ''donating''.
In general we would say don''t get mad... donate. So the sleazer and lower the lies and rhetoric became coming out of the McCain/Palin campaign...the more we donated. I would certainly agree that it would be better if we could figure out how to fairly run a campaign using less time and money. But with all of the hurdles President Elect Obama knew he had to face I am glad he did not constrain himself by taking public financing. He knew that there was a LOT of money available to attack him with 527''s etc on the republican side and to accept public financing would be like committing to losing up front. I am very glad he had the wisdom to see this and allowed hiimself to be publicly supported by the american people.

If it is ok with you black people to call a 1/2 white man your first black president. It''''s ok with me. PLEASE DROP IT.

chitown4716, I asked PLEASE, lets drop this. Obama is 1/2 white. It''''s a FACT. Thats all I''''m going to say.

The color of Obama''s skin really should not be an issue. However, the truth of the matter is that when you look at him the First thing you see and acknowledge is that he is black. The second is that he is a man. Remember, our own history ("one drop rule"), states that even one drop of black blood makes you black.

Should we in the 21st century be able to get past the color issue? Yes. Can we get past it? No, not everybody will and that is their choice.

Which means he likes you Republicans too. But, seriously, instead of wasting time kvetching, why don''t you/we do something positive to help folks that are being hurt by this recession? Volunteer at a soup kitchen, or at the Salvation Army, or for Habitat...something that makes you appreciate that "there, but for the grace of God, go I."

Be part of Bush senior''s "thousand points of light." Volunteer at a school or a library so you can have a positive impact on the next generation of Americans. You/we might be surprised at how it would change our collective negativity.

Helping others is an American tradition. You might say it is the patriotic thing to do. Hope to see you among the ranks of volunteers.

Peace, brother.

The Obama campaign will be studied for decades as one of the best, if not THE BEST run campaigns in history. They did everything right, and they should all be patting themselves on the back.

Hmmm....that is how our kids argue - a lot of speculation on what the other person would do based on what they know they would do.

Do you need to sit in time out? That seemed to help their maturity.

Congratulations to the crookedest, nastiest campaign team in US history! You people lied, denied, evaded and crashed your way into American History! Congratulations on raising more Arabic/Muslim, and corporate American money than any other candidate in history, and by putting fake names to it. Posted by FromTexwLove

Are you referring to the McCain Campaign or the Bush Campaign??? Most people get them mixed up because they were so much alike....like twins!!!!

whatithink10 - you are right. I wonder what it would feel like to wear ignorance like a security blanket? I think some sort of national and international travel should be a mandatory part of our public school education. People have got to leave their little bubbles and see and hear the rest of the world.

The only candidate that tried to make a fool of us was McCain by putting a completely unqualified running mate on his ticket - and then putting together the most foolish and disjointed campaign in history. Obama won this election by those like me. White progressive Americans.

mrxxxx - I''m white - I don''t care if he is 1/2 white, 1/2 black or any mix of whatever race in between. IT DOES NOT MATTER. whatithink10 - you made a point I didn''t even consider - before the election "he was black" and now after the election - "he is 1/2 white". Whatever makes them feel better I guess...
