As the next President takes office on January 20, 2009, the nation looks to him to come up with a plan that will put an end to the crippling high energy costs. The plan must be thoroughly thought out and based in reality. Yet it must be executed quickly, forcefully, and successfully. The total cost of this country''s oil addiction is well over one trillion dollars a year. We are sending hundreds of billions of dollars overseas. We are driving off a cliff; something must be done and done fast. Our situation is far more serious than anyone seems to realize, but second, that there is a way out. "The Manhattan Project of 2009 examines our situation in detail, studies our options, and crafts a detailed plan to get us off of oil.
Are we depleting our oil reserves, and if so, at what rate? Who is competing with us for the world''s oil supply, and just how serious is this competition? What is the total cost of oil to our society? What does the oil situation mean for our nation security? What are the different uses for oil, and how much does oil does each one
need? What is the realistic potential for the different sources of alternative energy?

JOHN McCAIN: "I believe the fundamentals of the economy are strong."

THEN THE NEXT DAY:

"Well... I... err... ummm, what I meant was the fundamentals of the economy are the working men and women, and anyone who disagrees with me is against the American worker."

The question is:

ARE YOU STUPID ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR McCAIN/PALIN???

"Obama is a senator, not congress nor is he president, yet. So, let the people who are currently assigned to make these decision do what they are elected to do. Obama and McCain can give their opinions, but bottom line, the final decision belongs to the currently elected congressmen, congresswomen and with the current president."

You really have no idea what you are talking about. First, learn how the three branches of government work, then see if you can understand that ''congress'' is comprised of both the ''house of representatives and the senate.

Back on May 25, 2006 John McCain spoke %u201CI join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole. I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation%u2026%u2026%u2026Barack Obama and other Democrats OPPOSED and did nothing. http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/17/mccains-attempt-to-fix-fannie-mae-freddie-mac-in-2005/

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, just perpetrated an unbelievable deception on the American people. On Monday, she submitted H.R. Bill 6899 to Congress and demanded a vote take place within 24 hours. On Tuesday evening, 221 Democrats and 15 Republicans passed this bill %u201Cthe Comprehensive American Energy Security and Consumer Protection Act%u201D. This allows drilling in those areas where there is no oil and extends the moratorium on domestic drilling where there is oil.

I don%u2019t know about you but I%u2019ve had it with Democratic Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. They are trying to perpetuate %u201Cchanges%u201D that will hurt Americans without the approval of the people of this country. Obama took huge amounts of money from Fannie Mae, Obama%u2019s close friend Jim Johnson, CEO, of Fannie May was selected as his advisor to determine the next Vice President of the US. Obama has received 9.9 million from securities and investment firms. Obama has looked the other way at the entire sub-prime mortgage lending problems all the while taking money, and just took more money, money and money. Now Obama expresses grief to home owners---maybe he just didn%u2019t know what was going on. Maybe his judgment is blind when it comes to truthfulness.

The whole mess is that there are too many small fishes ( Democrats who do NOTHING in Congres for the last 2 years) in the pond and not enough smart people who can make the right change. ...

Please explain how any party is in charge of Congress when any 40 Senators can stop any legislation and Congress is divided 50 - 49 - 1.

How can McCain agree we are in a recession if "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" What? Does he parrot whatever Obama says now? he should stick to his guns and tell us not to pay attention to that man behind the curtains.

Republican John McCain''s new line --- the fundamentals of the economy are strongly in recession.
