He did not deserve that. NO HUMAN BEING DESERVES that, well, then again, MAYBE a HEARTLESS IDIOT LIKE YOU DOES!

These detainees are treated like animals which is a blatant disregard and disrespect for US rules and regulations and did not ABIDE US laws.
So, lets incarcerate all legal Americans that support these Human Rights abuses.

democrat122, the man in this article WAS NOT A CRIMINAL, even though he was treated like one! He was applying for political asylum! He should have been given a hearing, and a decision! According to ICE, about 2% of detained undocumented aliens have criminals records. So go ahead deport them and leave the remaining 98% here.

- Wow, this article really sheds light on a tragic problem in America. It is now clear that these individuals should be deported IMMEDIATELY rather than detained. This would allow them to seek the medical care their legal home citizenship entitles them to. Thank you CBS for showing us how badly we need to be more engaged in immediate deportation for these criminals!

- There is a very simple solutin to the detainee problem. Close the stinking borders. It''s getting ridiculous that we don''t take care of half of our own population yet let more in. Then these people come in here expecting free rides. Funny, they don''t like their own homeland yet expect us to cater to them. I say stay home! And I say to our goverment - start requiring people to step up and tend to business. Get off the couch and get a job! Cut off welfare and close the borders!

- TO lovegetpeace - what a way to promote peace - It is exactly that blatant disregard and disrespect for US rules and regulations that all these people posting are complaining about. Being a US citizen is a privilege - not a gift. If immigrants want to come to the US, be a part of our country and reap is benefits, I think the least they can do is ABIDE the law. If they are willing to do that, then welcome - if not, they need to stay home or go somewhere else.

Eliminate the Quota or raise the quota limits and there is no need to wait 25 years for a conditional visa. I would take all the risks of crossing the border in a heartbeat rather than wait 25 plus years in line.
Our illigal ancestors made this country great. Why not today? Before the Anmesty law of 1988, there was no Quota limit per country. - Reply to this comment

- These people are here illegally. Many are fleeing from justice and looking to come here to further their criminal exploits. We are not obligated or should we tolerate this. We can only sustain so many ourselves. Just because you wish to be here doesn''t mean you should be here. There are legal ways of doing this and that is the route to go.

Please drive north to Canada, at the border, it will take about 1 hour per person to get a 90 days visa to stay there. Assuming you follow this process, it will take about 3 months to get a worker visa. 1 year after getting a worker visas, you can obtain a Canadain Citizenship. After about 1 year in Canada as a citizen, you can apply for a unconditional visa in the USA. After about 12 to 18 months in the USA, you can apply for a Permanent Resident in the USA. The Permanent Resident process should take from 6 to 18 months to receive for Canadian residents.
This whole Canada-USA process will take about 4 years which is much better than waiting 25.5 years for a conditional visa from the USA having Quotas for Latin American residents. - Reply to this comment

- Thank God someone is looking into the US govt treatment of prisoners. In Kansas City, the FBI raided a couple massage joints for prostitution and threw three Chinese operators in jail. They remain in US Marshall custody for over one year. No bond. No trial. They can get no phone calls, no vistors, nor mail. I dont know how they even get an attorney or if they have one. They cannot contact ACLU for Amnesty International for help because the have no appearent rights. They are being persecuted by the US govt. as if they are terrorists. We are talking about prostitution here. Many of our elected officials are guilty of this and they are not in prison. They still in office!!!!

I don''t care. I am the mother of three children and the spouse of a mentally/physically disabled man. I travel four hours a day to support my family. Half my paycheck is taken by the government in for socialist causes such as the care and process of people coming to our shores with their hands out. I can hardly afford gas to make it work. I am overdrawn on my account and I won''t get paid until Wednesday and that paycheck is gone already. I cut my own hair, I don''t have a cell phone, I don''t go shopping. I hand wash my dishes, line dry my clothing so that I every once in a while afford cable television. I just got robbed by known to be crooked contractor and my husband is in the hospital.
What obligation do I have to those who demand I put them in front of my own children -- my money I work for and I don''t even get to see them because I have to work a minimum of 3 hours OT -- and they come to our shores with their hands out, usurp my government''s focus and take my money and criticize us in the process. Current Legal Hispanic Americas have a high positive birth-rate. Hispanics are already the majority race in California, New Mexico, Florida. Soon, Hispanics will become the majority in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Illinois. In the distance future Texas.
According to the US Census Bureau and Center for Disease Control, Legal Hispanics will be the majority in America at about the year 2048.
