It is not a favor I''m granting you, by letting you roam free. Don''t think freedom an opportunity to do evil. Its not. I don''t care what you stand for. You could stand for the God Almighty, for all I care. But you have to understand something quite simple and fundamental. That people have a choice. That what you say is just what you say, and not no ... revelation.

All that an illegal is legally entitled to is SUMMARY JUSTICE. For the illegals are NOT the "We the People ..." intended by our Constitution.

They are entitled to "Due Process" under the 14th Amendment...

The Fourteenth Amendment (Amendment XIV) to the United States Constitution is one of the post-Civil War amendments (known as the Reconstruction Amendments), first intended to secure rights for former slaves. It includes the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses among others. It was proposed on June 13, 1866, and ratified on July 9, 1868. It is perhaps the most significant structural change to the Constitution since the passage of the United States Bill of Rights.

The amendment provides a broad definition of United States citizenship, superseding the U.S. Supreme Court''s decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford that had excluded African Americans. The amendment requires states to provide equal protection under the law to all persons [[(not only to citizens)]] within their jurisdictions and was used in the mid-20th century to dismantle legal segregation, as in Brown v. Board of Education. Its Due Process Clause has been the basis of much important and controversial case law regarding privacy rights, abortion (see Roe v. Wade), and other issues.

Healthcare? Terrorism? Justice? Freedom? Education? Religion? These are thing you shouldn''t concern yourself with, until you first understand that what people have is the choice to listen to you, or not to.

It is the heart of activism that we''re at war with. The hero, who takes away people freedoms. Until you understand that murder is not an option, I doubt we''ll have any further negotiation on who''s a prisoner.

So they are NOT entitled to Due Process.

Just round them up en masse, take them before a U.S. magistrate, whereupon a showing that they are in fact here illegally, then FINE them and FORCE-WORK them to pay off the fine

...THEN deport them.

We are overlooking a vast FREE LABOR resource.

And we should turn what appears to be a liability into an ASSET.

After we USE them, then send them back home with a "thank you" note saying, "Please come again." :)~

You can bet they won''t be back.

For low wages in Mexico is still a lot better than NO wages in "Gringoland."

A prisoner is someone behind bars, liberal. Not someone who has to listen to people who disagree with him.

These undocumented aliens are used a scapegoats. it all started the day after 9/11. Before 9/11, where were they hiding? They cherry pick about the cost but they ignore the benefits of the undocumented workers. All Americans are descendants of undocumented aliens.

There were no immigration laws in the 1800''s...Congress passed the Emergency Quota Act in 1921, followed by the Immigration Act of 1924.

The more contact a native-born American has with immigrants, typically the more positive view of immigrants one has. The less contact a native-born American has with immigrants, the more likely one would have a negative view of immigrants.

What is interesting - many of the people opposed to helping these people once they enter the US are in favor of invading Iraq based on lies and then on the premise of "spreading democracy".

An interesting story. And, yes, some of the people requesting asylum should have been treated better or the agencies given enough money to do it on their own, or outsource it to a contractor that will actually care.

As for those who come in illegally and snort white powder for a living, we can''t even treat our own, and yet others come here illegally and get upset and whine and find a lawyer when they don''t get better treatment by default. I must be missing out on some piece(s) of information, all that made no sense...

As for offshoring, it''s not quite the same issue and, again, we really should tend to our own while helping others. Besides, it''s easier to administer and keep an eye on our own than to play craps by offshoring everything and hope the short term savings means something in the long road. I have few qualms about offshoring under appropriate circumstances, and other countries are getting a boost in their standard of living. But it''s also inferred that offshoring''s price is the cost of our country''s future, even if such a belief is warranted. That''s what people are worried about, even if such fear is without merit. And all things considered, maybe there is no merit to the fear, but people will still feel fear anyway.

OOOHH where to start. How about the detainees respecting OUR LAWS regarding entering the country. That ought to do it!

Hey js11411 and lochlan,
I am just amazed at the following:

Americans scream when Undocumented workers take jobs they do not want. However, Americans are silent when American Corporations outsource and insource (H1B) high skill, high pay professional jobs that America needs and wants.

These undocumented aliens are used a scapegoats. it all started the day after 9/11. Before 9/11, where were they hiding? They cherry pick about the cost but they ignore the benefits of the undocumented workers. All Americans are descendants of undocumented aliens.

Thank you CBS for airing this story. I am sickened at the responses, most of which perpetuate the "blame the victim" mentality and which also show a galling lack of empathy and compassion. I agree completely with the points about help needed in our own country, but bigotry and hatred will not help us solve the issues.

The solution to immigration does not lie in building a bigger wall or treating people inhumanely. The assumption that immigrants come to this country on a whim to benefit from "free services and luxuries" is ridiculous. People who uproot themselves do so as a last, desperate resort. They fear for their lives and for the safety of their children.

Immigration is a symptom of a much deeper problem: global poverty exacerbated by unfair and inequitable economic policies that benefit companies rather than people and completely ignore the poor. Often, our own country (either blatantly or covertly, directly or indirectly through IMF, World Bank, etc) is involved in creating or maintaining the violent or inequitable situations found in many of the countries from which people emigrate. We all have a stake in this issue. I encourage all citizens to embrace their neighbors rather than reject them. Understanding the circumstances that force people to leave is the first step in creating a real solution. Educating ourselves about our own policies and interventions will enable us to change them.

It''s to bad that the people that take the jobs to arrest and detain these people are typical red neck, NASCAR, bullies. That said, I believe these people who come to this country illegally should have to pay for the ticket to be sent home. To me that means making them work (while in confinement) to pay for their ride home and costs to the American government. If they choose not to work, then we can hold them in solitary until they feel like paying the rising bill. Of course this means no cable, no medical, etc., and no communication with anyone except the walls of their cell.
Until we make it undesirable for them to com illegally, they''re going to come illegally. We just have to watch out for the exploiters that strive to use the system for their own selfish gain.

Pull NAFTA off the table, sanction Mexico and cut off all aid. Then maybe Mexico will get off their dead butts and help us secure the border. This is a second economy to them and they have no intention of ever helping with the border till we make it exspensive for them not too.
