- I used to count on 60 minutes to provide decent objective jounalism. When in the first segment of this inteview this disgusting arrogant man states in the case of the 2000 elections, I decided who was going to be president, without account to how the American people voted, "get over it", and Ms. Stahl gushingly opens the next segment with how this man is unpretentious and down to earth, I wanted to throw up. I guess I was wrong about your program.

- I just watched the piece on TV (I know, so old fashioned). While I do not agree with Justice Scalia''s rulings in many cases, I was surprised to find that he was not only a genuine person, but also very likable. I would love to argue those opinions with him, and would hope he might learn as much from me as I would learn from him.
It is too bad that we have found it very easy to demonize those with whom we have a different opinion. This lack of what one could call "common decency" is one of the most troubling for the continued success of our nation.
Just look at our current presidential election. We have four decent well-meaning people running for President and Vice-President, despite their political views. How many, like me, have been completely turned off by the incessant negativity of all sides, spurred on by our friends in the media (who will resort to anything in pursuit of ratings)? - Reply to this comment
- I''m glad someone immediately jumped on the idea we need a constitution to be living to adjust to the times. we have amendments for changing times like ending slavery and letting women vote. Ginsberg should know that so why does she ''play dumb'' on that issue.
Why did we pass and subsequently repeal an amendment to outlaw alcohol but not to outlaw drugs? Prohibition didn''t work, and we, the people, learned quickly that it was causing more crimes including murder-- not to mention deaths by bathtub gin deaths(similar to meth). The fed didn''t want us to be able to repeal drug prohibition.
A living constitution is like playing poker as the rules continue to change... Not good policy. - Reply to this comment
- Why don''t you just begin your program admitting that you''re a left-wing, liberal organization hell-bent on rewriting history so that Al Gore, poor Al Gore, the most important Nobel prize winner in history, won the election. Then you won''t have to worry about discussing any of the facts concerning the election (i.e., little things like Bush winning it after several recounts continued to show he won) and can just proclaim that Al Gore won and go on talking about all of the great things he did during his presidency. I''m sure that''s what most of your left-wing support group would be in favor of and you can just stop wasting your time on other irrelevant matters.
I won''t watch again, that''s for sure. - Reply to this comment

- 60 minutes continues it''s ''Dan Rather'' style of liberal-bias news reporting and story interviewing...liberal-bias socialists who will stop at nothing to elect their looney left wing candidates and promote socialism...hey, CBS - have you ever considered truth and facts...try it sometime...free speech and religous freedom is what American is all about

- Ms Stahl needs to consult the Webster Dictionary. There is a difference between "punishment" and "interigation". She needs to forget her biased thoughts and stick to the facts. This program should be factual not editorial diatribe.

- Well, that was very painful. I am so disappointed, but not surprised, to see Leslie once again, fawn, giggle, in general act inappropriately on what could have been an unbiased interview. The good news is I see other posts and can only hope that other viewers will see Scalia just as he is...someone I would not wanting deciding my fate in the courts. Although, that''s the point - he is deciding my fate.

- Justice Ginzberg in supporting her position regarding a "living Constitution" stated that "We the people.." did not include, her or Leslie Stahl or the black community. She is 100% right. The XV and XIX Amendments were required to corrected those injustices. The Constitution, as Originalists state can only be changed by Legislators, NOT activist judges.

- Obnoxious eurocentric-racist and certainly non-democratic. I am glad this show aired to exhibit this. This man apparently does not respect that the world does not revolve around him.

- Never in all the years that I have watched 60 minutes have I become so enraged that I have turned it off. Scalia did it. As the protester''s sign claimed, Scalia is a fascist. He is brilliantly disengenuous and fraudulent. Read Justice Steven''s opinion in the 2000 presidential election decision. That says it all. Gore brought it to the Court to get every vote counted under credible court supervision. Scalia led the charge to keep this from happening. He is a fascist. He would never dare submit to an interview with a capable constitutional scholar on the 2000 election. He did to the American electoral process what Pres. Jackson did to the Cherokee, which, by the way, he did in direct violation of a Supreme Court opinion to the contrary.

- Leslie should interview him with respect and not question based on her own views...she uses the term "I believe" at 3 times during the interview. Then when he responds with what he believes, everyone takes his response as challenging and abrasive. She questioned him remember........

- Major flaw in Leslie''s interview: Scalai claimed that it was Gore who brought the courts into the 2000 Election battle. Wasn''t it Bush, ie., Bush v. Gore???
She should have realized this & challenged him on it, instead of gladhandling and doing curtsies & genuflections.
Also, he doesn''t strike me as remotely intelligent, down-to-earth (very faux down-to-earth, in fact), or -- and imagine this -- a statesman. He''ll never be remembered as one of the great Justices. He''s just a shill. Bad job, 60 Minutes. usually you''re alot better than this! - Reply to this comment
- How can Leslie Stahl say Justice Scalia is charming in person -- in contrast to his writings -- based solely on her interview with him? He is incredibly nasty in person, not only to those people who appear before him at the Supreme Court, but also -- based on my personal experience, to those law students who have the temerity to ask him questions at the many forums he appears at off the record.
