I will have to agree with what you saying. Gates needs to keep his mouth shut.. If he wants to talk to his people about this, then that is fine. If there is a problem he need to work on it, but don''t shout it to the world in general.. Again all this kind of thing does is give the enemy more Resolve.

On the bush thing.. Patience people, he will be gone in 9 months. That may be to long but we really don''t have a choice here. But I have a really bad feeling that his replacement. I don''t like any one of the three that are running.

These men and all who support them are heros. Many nameless to us but stand head and shoulders over us because we all sent them (voters, non-voters). They fight for our ideals and causes and for each other. It was awe inspiring to read this story. I am always aware of military personnel in my area. I speak with them and help when and where I can with humility and great respect. A recent Seal Mission survivor said simply pick up a gun and give us a hand. They should put 62 year old men like me in the field to fight. Maybe then we would be as careful as we possibly can be before we start an armed conflict. Were the Taliban trained in Pakistan? Or where they trained by UN troups under false pretenses? Where did the weapons and arms come from (Taliban). Aren''t supplies easy to track?

After having retired from the Army and now living near Ft. Bragg, NC, we see the pride of American service members and their families every day. The people in your 60 Minutes piece are indicitive of the best the Army has. "No man left behind" is the combat credo the military members believe in and make every effort to carry out. "Major" Ford - who (by the way 60 Minutes) was wearing Captains bars - was put in a very difficult situation by your reporter who probably thinks each soldier (although they have personal oppinions) is in a position to criticize or comment on each order that they are given by those several pay-grades higher. Those highlighted in your piece are people who did heroic things that few Americans would comprehend or selflessly perform. The Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star (one and two steps respectively below the Medal of Honor) are carefully researched and substanciated before being given. Too few Americans are willing to waive the immediate gratification of high salaries and job opportunities that these soliers do for little wages; separation from loved ones and pride in ones''s country. One can dispute the worth of the war and this counties role in the world but I thank our military members for the service they provide to keep our country and it''s interests secure.

Apoint some of you might not know about special forces. Their missions are usually classified and cannot be talked about until declassified. I was on classified missions in Vietnam which are still classified. At any rate any story at any time about our soldiers is always good to hear. Everyone can sleep better at night because they are there protecting America.

Thank you for finally putting an honest, real story on the air about American heroes that deserve your respect, honor and gratitude. I, for one was weeping at their courage, humility, bravery and honor. This is not about politics---these men could care less if it was George, Obama or Hillary and so could I ---this is about protecting our way of life and the freedoms we enjoy including the freedom of speech--thank these patriots because you owe them a debt of gratitude that you could not repay---they pay every day with their lives and their families as well.

I am very proud of the Green Berets that fought with Vaylor and all solders they risk there lives plus some died for the American people but what is so terrible they risked there lives for people Like (JOYOUS 88) Coward like him would go Awol before they would even think about fighting . He is sick I was in Vietnam and there were lot of people that though like him. The SECDEF stated the Air Force was not doing enough in the war effort. He happens to be right, his statement is not a hit on our troops, and the war in Afghanistan is not "illegal" nor "unjust" and never was.
