To SandyCane1 regarding your comment - Why change the name it was named appropriately. Easter was not named after Jesus; it was a preexisting Pagan Holiday...

Easter originated from the festival in honor of Eostre, a Teutonic-Germanic dawn, spring, and fertility goddess. Her Germanic name was %u201COstara%u201D or %u201CAostre,%u201D which means %u201Cmovement toward the rising sun.%u201D Her Anglo-Saxon name became %u201CEstre%u201D or %u201CEastre.%u201D She was honored among the Germanic people with painted eggs and her sacred beast was the Hare. The name %u201CEaster%u201D is merely a slight variation of the English spelling (Eastre), a name associated with that of the ancient Assyrian goddess Ishtar.

In Arabic and Hebrew the AH suffix, has the feminine gender So, Allah (Allllah) could be a girl... Hail Ishtar!

Re: "And this ossuary was said hold the bones of Jesus'' brother, James."

His brother?

You mean that Gawd raped Mary, twice?

2000 years ago Jesus paid my sin debt once and for all. It was Gods justice poured out on sin at the cross. The cross is the finished work of Jesus! All I have to do is claim it by calling on Jesus to save you. Now you can have eternal life! This is what Easter is all about for Christians. Its allowing us to share Gods Justice, His Wisdom, His Love and His Power to save you and keep you! You can come to know him. Its that simple once you realize that all your sin debt was paid in full at the cross! Call to Jesus to save you!

I wasn''t misled by those statements. I thought the article was well written.

The illegal trade of artifacts is a serious problem for many archaeologists. This story demonstrates just what kind of destruction can occur to the history we all share.

Archaeologists agree that the box is genuine and that it dates from the time of James and Jesus. Statisticians say the odds against it being anyone other than THE James and Jesus are enormous.
-------------

These sentences are ENORMOUSLY misleading.

Take the first one. Archaeologists agree that it is a genuine FIRST CENTURY OSSURARY. NOT that it has any connection to Jesus.

As to the statistical "evidence": SUCH EVIDENCE as EXISTS for name frequency in 1st century palestine SUGGESTS that individuals named James (Jacob) with a father named Joseph (Yosef) and a brother Jesus (Yeshua) would be rare. But evidence of names frequencies is not particularly complete for that time period and is subject to large data error.

Similarly, as the article mentions, the statistical analysis is based on the assumption that the inscription itself is VALID. That is not merely contentious but unlikely.

This article is NOT NEWS but a soft public interest puff piece designed to attract attention to the CBS news website.

Edward R. Murrow would weep.

"The Truth" and "The Bible" are mutually exclusive.

When are people going to stop blindly believing in the pure fiction which is the Bible (and every other religious doctrine) and learn the method by which this book came into existince?

Learn who wrote it, how it was written, how it was translated to Greek, how it was translated to English and how its interpretation seems to constantly contradict itself based on what''s popular for the times.

This was written by mysogenists in a time of very specific social and economic circumstances.

It amazes me that anyone, ANYONE wastes an ounce of their time with this rubbish.

Not to mention that about 90% of all world conflicts can be sourced to organized religion. It is the scourge of the earth.

Dear jtyner,
It is very sad and heavy. The world is full of fakes. Especially anything that has to do with religion. The higher the stakes, the higher the fakes.

A rational person doesn''t believe in myths and fables without hard cold empirical evidence.Included in that is religious myths like the Islamic moon god and his delusional prophet Mohammad.

Allah or Jesus? Jesus or Allah? Whose daddy is who? Let''s vote! No, that''s very western. Let''s submit to Sharia Law! No, that''s very eastern. Hmmm, what''s a rational person to do?

I never do this... I never post my opinion. But as a history lover and a history major... for some reason this story touched me to my core. It wasn''t just the story itself, but what the story encompassed... it distraughts me to my soul to think of fakes, not only in househould collections, but also in world famous museums... I still can not put into words what this story meant to me--a history love--the meaning that goes beyond all hobbies... The weight that this story put on my shoulders... I can''t explain... I just wish I could stop it. I still do not know how to put in to words the sad, dreadful feeling this story gave me... I could only bow my shoulders and sigh for what it means...

And what is meant by this, ''Jesus'' brother?'' Oh, I get it, same mom, different dad. Yeah, we get that a lot in urban America.

More time, money and effort being spent on religious fantasy. Just what the world needs.
