1.) We need this in every state.

2.) I sent an e-mail to our CEO and asked if he saw it and if he thinks we have employees in line begging for free health care because our deductibles are so high.

I hope all you Rush Limbaugh republicans are proud of what your party has done to the American people.
You killed health care reform in 1994.You want to deny basic health care needs to the poorest of your fellow citizens because your afraid of paying more taxes to help them. You have this ignorant and selfish attutide of:
"Me,myself, and I to hell with everyone else."

Health care, thanks to your party is a complete national disgrace. The US sadly remains the only western industrialzied nation to deny universial healthcare to all her citizens. You republicans are, and only God knows why,are dealthy afraid of ANY FORM of socalized medicine, when you know *** WELL it
DOES WORK,not perfectly of course,BUT IT DOES WORK
in other western nations. In other countries YOU ARE NOT HIT WITH A $10,000 HOSPITAL BILL!!!!Only in Amarica does this happen.

Your just don''t want to pay more taxes to help your fellow citizens. This has always been the problem with Rush Limbaugh republicans, your greedy and selfish.

But once again again your Me,myself and I and to hell with everyone else attitude will rule the day and until the day we finally have a liberal congress and a liberal president who will finally give America universial healthcare coverage, that can never be taken away.Until then day comes, the USA will remain the laughing stock of the world when it comes to health care.

I hope you are proud of what you have accomplished.

Seektruth, the heartless ones are those like you, who think that Americans should go without everything but food and some kind of roof over their heads in order to get treatment when they''re sick or injured. If you have proof that every uninsured/underinsured person has three newer TV''s, cable, a few cell phones, etc., let us know. Tell me how I was supposed to get by earning barely over 1000 bucks a month and paying $500 rent and $450 insurance premiums? Doesn''t leave much for all those TV''s and cell phones.
By the way, how much did you donate to RAM, or did you? I did, even though I don''t have much to give them.

bellavida369, what you missed in reading the article was that the man with the tooth extraction that drove 200 miles at $3 a gallon of gas ALSO had his family with him that needed check ups too. So by the time all was said and done his family probably had more than $1,000 worth of medical care. Where was he going to get that kind of money. The woman needing the eyeglasses was living on social security and depending on how many years you actually worked determines the amount you get from SS, so if she took time off for a family, etc. she is getting much less money than you think because that effects the amount. It''s very sad to see that so many people in our country need medical care and don''t get it. This country needs to stop sending its money to other nations and start spending it in its own backyard.

jujukitty...where do you think the money comes from to support RAM...those heartless Americans. Truth is that Americans have difficulty prioritizing their spending. How about these priorities 1. Food 2. Shelter 3. Healthcare . Any chance we could put the three TV sets, the cable TV, and cell phones a little further down on the list? Look at US Census data to see what the "less fortunate" American owns, and you will see they are doing pretty well compared to the rest of the world, despite the poor choices they have made in their lives.

At a time when Presidential candidates are spending perhaps one hundred million each to get elected with the intent of then spending billions to provide health care to all Americans, perhaps we should consider what was proposed by Congressman Dennis Kucinich. Make health care a non-profit industry. Radical? Yes. But RAM demonstrates how money can be applied to actually achieve the objective of providing medical care to people who currently do not have access to it. Is there any doubt that these Presidential candidates will spend 100 times more to achieve 100 time less? When a candidate contributes 10% of his/her campaign funds to RAM, they might get my vote.

Wow, according to some commenters here, Americans should give up absolutely everything in order to have medical treatment. Do you have a car? Sell that first (and walk to the job you do have). You''re wearing clothes? Sell those and wear rags, by god! You don''t live where there''s a free clinic? Quit your job, uproot your life and move to somewhere that does.
Are Americans really that heartless and uncaring about those less fortunate? Thankfully the RAM volunteers don''t feel that way.

Funny, isn''t it?

RAM does the majority of its in-country trips in Tennessee - home of Bill Frist, former Republican Senator and Senate Majority Leader, who along with his Republican pals did so much to ensure that so many Americans now need RAM''s services.

Oh, did I mention that Frist is also a physician?

Although your same post appears repeatedly, plenitude does not equal clarity. "It''s about the election." Really? As if the candidates have a cost effective plan. It''s nothing but a pay off to the for profit insurance companies. A la GW and the pharmaceutical industry.

Hey, they do this in third-world countries too. Good to see America''s getting there.

I admire this man''s desire and mission to help those in need, like in areas of the world where health care is truly difficult to obtain, but the conditions for some featured in this story seemed odd to be portrayed as out of reach to solve. One person drove 200 miles for a tooth extraction, with a mention by the narrator of gas ''costing $3.00 a gallon''- a tooth extraction might likely run from $75-$300 or so, depending on the type of the extraction, and where it was performed. Another woman is in need of a new eyeglass prescription, I was able to have an exam and eyeglasses done for $75.00- I was unemployed for almost 2 years, and I bought into this mindset, but what really changed for me was my attitude toward priorities in life. It really didn''t take that long to save enough money to take care of things like this. My wife is from South America, where people are walking sometimes great distances for this kind of help, and a little perspective may change how we view when someone is truly in need, and our sense of what crisis is.

First and foremost, I want to thank the many RAM volunteers for taking care of our citizens. The segment was riveting, and I also want to thank CBS for airing it.

I knew the state of our country''s medical care was dismal, but watching and listening to the interviews brought me to tears. I don''t understand how we can be the richest country in the world, and yet have men, women and children go without medical or dental care. The significance of having RAM provide these services is another symptom of this deep rooted and serious political issue.

This segment has appalled me as a nurse, former Army captain, and responsible citizen. I am brought to tears by the plight of our working poor. I see all kinds of abuses by illegals with new autos and cell phones and multiple babies, and because they have no documents are provided "free" healthcare at taxpayer''s expense. I also know first hand the cost of healthcare, with insurance, when my husband had two years of treatment for cancer, and then open heart surgery, all the while unable to work because of illness while I struggled to keep all afloat. I have sent a donation and will also donate my time during the next weekend they are in TN. Please, tell me why we give billions to Africa and the corrupt government in Mexico while our own go without.

I applaud the medical people who are donating their time and effort and doing this for free, but this is a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
Until this country starts looking at the health of it''s citizens as a national asset instead of a simple commodity for those who can afford it, we''ll continue to lag behind other nations who do it differently.

Your post reminded me when Clinton first tried to get health care reform going. A bunch of opposition leaders responded: We want to welcome Clinton to our struggle on this important subject.

Then they just offered up pure criticim, but never once made suggestions or offered ideas or anything. And I kept wondering: Really? You''ve been concerned about this? Since when?

There are a lot of people who will flock to anything free.
I''ll bet there are free health services where they live. There is in my town. The local Community Action organization has free clinics, two dentists, home health, care for the elderly, etc.
If these services don''t exist where these people live they ought to move. The Community Action people do a good job.
