- I have never been so frustrated and infuriated with a presidential administration like I have with our current one.
How can Rove and other Bush administrators refuse to show up when they are subpoenaed. If my understanding of the word "subpoena" is correct, anyone who fails to appear in punishable by law. Where is the punishment? If anything, a public official should be automatically suspended from office and forced to serve jail time until that official appears in court.
Bush and is entire administration (past and present) should be placed under investigation and should be charged for any wrong doings and/or illegal acts. - Reply to this comment
- This is the best work 60 Minutes has done in a long time. Please continue to follow this story in depth. To include extremely probable election fraud by the GOP with the purpose of stealing the election from Don Siegelman. FREE DON SIEGELMAN!

- CBS- if you read these comments- PLEASE dig deeper and show Rove for the lying cheater criminal that he is. WHY does he refuse to testify before a court?
And WHY is every member of the Bush administration shielded from answering any question under oath before the American people? Last I checked WE, the American people pay their salaries. Last I checked, it is OUR White House and they are mere employees and civil SERVANTS. Last I checked, the laws of the nation apply to EVERYONE, including the lying traitors and war criminals that infest our White House. It is time for our national media to play hardball and DEMAND answers on behalf of the nation. - Reply to this comment

WE? I thought you said you were a registered Democrat? I believe the contention is that the state GOP altered the votes. - Reply to this comment
- CBS, please, continue airing the Don Siegelman story! NO AMERICAN SHOULD BE FALSELY IMPRISONED! Furthermore, Lewis Libby was found guilty on 4 of 5 counts of exposing an undercover CIA agent and has not spent a day in prison for that crime because his sentence was commuted. President Bush should commute Don Siegelman%u2019s sentence too.

Invited a friend huh? Why don''t you answer questions about why you claim Simpson lied, but your Rove doesnt testify, and your judge doesn''t release transcripts? You won''t answer because you are here to promote your lying agenda. - Reply to this comment
- "find it strange that this is just coming to light during a national election."
This has been covered by FoxNews and many other news organizations since the sentencing in June, 2007. I find it strange that Mr. Siegelman served the state of Alabama as Secretary of State, Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor beginning in 1979 but was not investigated for anything until he defeated the Republican Governor in 1999. - Reply to this comment
- JAMALA101:
Show me where anyone she accuses has denied Jill Simpson''s allegation under oath. None have. It is heresay on their part then. They are all way too afraid to testify under oath, hence Karl Rove will not even honor subpoenas or even be interviewed by CBS when asked. These are Republican crooks that make Nixon look like a saint. Get a clue. - Reply to this comment
- "Karl Rove and others at the White House were subpoenaed to testify before Congress but they refused to appear. And the Justice Department has refused to turn over hundreds of documents in the case."
Once again Bush & Friends are above the law. And as always nothing will be done about it. - Reply to this comment
- On the 60 minutes Siegleman report, I did find one reference in the Huffington Post website. Quote:
"Siegelman was later indicted on 32 counts of corruption, convicted on seven of them, and is currently serving an 88-month sentence in Federal prison."
"Time magazine reported:
If Simpson''s version of events is accurate, it would show direct political involvement by the White House in federal prosecutions -- a charge leveled by Administration critics in connection with the U.S. attorney scandal that led to the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. But her account is disputed; those who she alleges told her about Rove''s involvement during a G.O.P. campaign conference call claim that no such conversation took place." - Reply to this comment
- "You have to be the deluded one to connect Bush with a corrupt, Democrat ex-Governor who was tried and convicted for bribery and obstruction of justice."
They belonged to the same fraternity. That''s a connection. - Reply to this comment

Go back and watch your Fox News and follow your hick-town. The rest of us will push to restore a transparent government, including getting the Bush thugs, like Rove, to honor Congressional subpoenas for a change--if they have nothing to hide then why do they not testify under oath? Jill Simpson testified under oath. On this alone, it is very clear who has something to hide and who is in the wrong here, if you could only see past your nose. But then again, it is obvious you get your news from hick-town AL. - Reply to this comment
- Jamala101 Its good to see you here finally someone with a little understanding about this case instead of brainwashed outsiders that are taking what they hear and running with it. If Karl Rove had been trying to take down the next up and coming great democrat I think he would have been after Hillary and Obama. It would not have been hard to destroyed their Political carear, but he must have thought they would destroy it with out his help.

I am a real American who served my country 20 years in the Air Force. I WOULD like to see "real investigative journalism return to national networks" instead of the mindless drivel that 60 minutes put out on this story. If you have a small piece of your mind left (after the brainwashing you must have received), ask yourself a few questions. Like, if these Siegeman supporters have testified before a committee in the Democrat controlled congress, why have you not heard from them? Why have legitmate news organizations not picked up this story? Why would CBS pick an Arizona AG to speak on this Alabama story?
Why was it not mentioned that the other codefendent was Richard Schrushy, former CEO of HealthSouth Corp, who was previously tried for accounting scandals at HealthSouth.
On the other hand, a business man that I know very well was one of the first ones indicted and prosecuted in a trail of corruption prosecutions that led all the was to exGov Siegelman. He happened to be a Republican. He pleaded quilty to the fact that he made payoffs to one of Siegelman''s aides in order to get the State contracts and he was sentenced. The Siegleman corruption was exposed by a heralded investigative reporter from Mobile. Ask yourself why 60 Minutes left all of that out. - Reply to this comment
