This investigation is not complete until the Bush administration''s interference, funded by drug industry political contributions, is fully exposed and prosecuted.

Thanks for reporting on this, CBS. Please keep us updated on the law suits. This company doesn''t deserve to be in business any longer.

I can''t believe what I just read....Now I know why my mother never recovered from her valve replacement in 2000. It''s like an instant replay of her 9 months in the hospital. Having to go on Dialisis, losing parts of both her feet. My God, what kind of people would let this go on for so long....She suffered so much...They all need to be in jail....

It is truly UNBELIEVABLE that this kind of DECEIT goes on and that the FDA does not hold the drug companies ACCOUNTABLE. Thank you CBS for allowing this program the ability to report the TRUTH to the AMERICAN PEOPLE.

We have known about the Trasylol debacle for about two years and have been collected about 1,200 cases against the manufacturer who recklessly endangered people%u2019s lives. We%u2019d like to help you and your family too. For more information, please call 800-555-8123.

The Trasylol story is tragic, however what is most tragic is the FDA%u2019s inability to protect consumers from unsafe drugs and products. We need MORE regulation and accountability against the FDA and drug companies, not less.

All the claims that pot is medicinal come from self diagnosed stoners and drug dealers that love getting high and making tons of money off of selling pot to kids.

Think about it people.
There%u2019s a lot more in pot smoke than just THC. Do your own research and I suggest you check other sources than just High Time Mag. As a matter of fact the process of combustion (smoking) burns up most of the THC. THC has come in pure pill form for over thirty years. The pill form is powerful, the only problem is that the druggies can%u2019t get it as easily or make any money off of it.

USAyesterday

"Marijuana is a drug that provide more medicinal benefits for patients with minimal side effects"

WRONG!!!!!!! The MED POT LIE continues

The lies that smoking pot is medicinal are put forth by drug dealers who love the billions, yes I said billions of dollars they collect each year from illegal pot sales. Maor than half of this money comes from school children.

When you promote misinformation about pot it makes you just as destructive as Bayer when they misrepresented Trasylol.

The Truth
The AMA says that the poisons taken in when smoking pot is in no way the same as taking medication.

The FDA says that there are more carcinogenic and poisonous carbon compounds in pot than in cigarettes.

People have died from smoking pot. Pot runs your blood sugar super low, (hence the munchies), so smoking pot is Russian roulette for diabetics.

The Med Pot Lie is told by druggies who don%u2019t care who gets hurt as long as they get their money.

1.2 million Iraqi lives could have been saved if someone would have pulled Bush. Hopefully someday all of this government will be held accountable for war crimes.

The right wing''s complete capitulation to the business community in in the non-regulation of food and drugs has killed thousands of our fellow Americans. Over 125,000 were killed by vioxx alone. How many were killed by Avandia and other drugs. Have the right wing changed after all these deaths? No, is the answer! The Republican''s are deadly to us and should be dumped into the dust bin of history forever. They are the real version of America''s Al Qaeda.

This story is not up to date. In this month''s Anesthesiology, NO INCREASE in renal insufficiency was shown in with Trasylol with varying doses of the drug during 5600 cardiac cases.

It hasn''t been shut down in San Francisco or Arizona.
The problem was where to allow the stores to be. People didn''t want weed stores in their neighborhood.
It is still being prescribed and grown and sold.

The pharmaceuticals need to be taken over. They need to be taken away from who owns them and who is cashing in on their great new drug deals which kill thousands. An example such as what is the another headline for today. They are a money business, not a health and medicines for health business.

Why is marijuana still kept illegal?

Simple:

Marijuana is a drug that provide more medicinal benefits for patients with minimal side effects. Marijuana seeds can be obtained at a very low cost for the patients and grown/cultivated at an even lower cost.

And the ultimate reason why marijuana is still illegal:

Marijuana is a far superior drug than what the big pharma companies shovel down our throat. However, marijuana provides NO profits for the pharmaceutical companies, of whom have a stranglehold on our politicians/law makers.

And that is why marijuana is still illegal in the U.S.

MY GOD USAYESTERDAY -- As a staunch Republican, and someone who often disagrees with you, I actually agree with you on this one.

However, if legalized, it needs to be kept in check. THey already tried it in San Francisco, a major disaster as the kids were obtaining perscriptions from shady doctors and buying dope on the street corners. Had to be shut down immediately.

Is there going to be a class action suit against Bayer? My Dad had kidney failure, after heart surgery last April and then died.

Nanapat: There probably will be, but you might want to investigate pursuing a claim on your own. Class-action suits are great for the LAWYERS, who make a fortune. They are great for punishing companies who have cheated lots of customers in a small way (if you cheat a million people out of $10 each, that''s too little for them to recover individually but makes a multi-million dollar class-action). On a case where even a single claim is expensive, see a lawyer. And do it soon. If your Dad died last April, there may be a time limit on when you have to file, and sometimes the limit is as short as a year after the incident. By the way, please accept my condolences about your father. I wouldn''t want to forget to mention that.

The Bayer profit structure is that described by Peter Lynch in "One Up on Wall Street." A pharmaceutical company introducing a new drug that is approved by the FDA has a 17-year lock on its merchandising with no limit on its price. Lynch''s description was of SmithKline Beckman''s Tagamet, which offered relief, but not a cure, to people who suffered ulcers. It came on the market in 1976, and SmithKline''s share price went from $7.50 in 1977 to $72.00 in 1987. The Bayer Trasylol issue is an ugly ethical and moral footnote to the free operation of the US economic system.

The story about Trasylol was no surprise to me. I worked for this company and saw a consistant pattern of unethical behavior at the highest levels of management. Bayer is driven by profit at any cost. Their attitude is to do whatever they want and pay a fine if caught. CBS could present a very interesting story by exposing the business practices of a very evil corporation. For all who continue to work there, it is an embarrassment to work for a company continually caught selling tainted drugs, engaging in price fixing, or defrauding the federal government out of hundreds of millions of dollars in Medicare payments. Start doing a Google search and you will be amazed by the number of stories you can find detailing Bayers bad behavior.
