So, what you are saying is that you are a lying pig, who when cornered on a lie resort to krapp like this to avoid having to admit to lying. Thank You, now nobody will read or even care about your posts anymore. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe if all you bible huggers didn''t elect idiot for a president maybe US would be doing something in Darfur right now instead of jerking around in Iraq where most citizens think they were better under Sadam. Whatever happened to his "moral duty"?
As far as hunger and in africa... how about trying to reduce population growth maybe. In the west and europe most people try to have children when they can actually afford to raise them in a decent condition. I think a child growing up in a total ******** has something to do with him thinking it''s ok to shoot women in their womb. When you got more people then the land can support the population will diminish naturally. How''s bringing in food from external countries to save that one kid who in 10 years gonna bring another 5 kids into the region is a long term solution?
Hard truth but somebody gotta post other side of argument. - Reply to this comment

- Please tell us, the people who care, what and who to write or send e-mail with our concern. I agree that the nations and peoples of Africa need our immediate action. Who do we hold accountable? What can we do personally? I am a poor woman in a mid-west state; but I do have access to computers and e-mail, I will not buy products from irresponsible companies, and state to the companies themselves why I no longer spend my pittance on their products. I would like to help.

- Congolese people all over the DRC and in the Diaspora are resisting!!
Find those who are resisting, near where you live and campaign with them to end the war!!
The non-aligned media know how to end the war.........
The UN know
The US government knows
You want to help women find out how to end the war!!
We will not stop resisting!!!
Although we%u2019re poor and weak, our struggle for freedom continues as the DRC is still enslaved through neo-colonialism, we will keep seeking freedom for Congolese people. Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
As long as the mind is enslaved, the body can never be free. We will keep reminding Congolese women, children and men, that Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.
WE ARE RESISTING!! and we will continue to tirelessly denounce these terrible crimes and seek justice in the name of Congolese women (dead or still alive) as well as in the name of all the Congolese ancestors!! - Reply to this comment

You see, you see but you do not listen....
Write to your government, congressmen, senators ect..
Educate your students about history, ask them to read non aligned and independent media.
Ask CBS to tell the truth, ask you media to be independent and not aligned!
Ask the UN and US to respect the resolutions on arm trades and illegal mining. Ask them to end the injustice, the interference and to end the war in the DRC.
No amount of money will help these women, only PEACE and JUSTICE!!
But I guess%u2026.all this will not be listen at, as many feel more comfortable in their comfort zones%u2026.thinking about their invested pension in arms trade and illegal mining companies%u2026..and so they send money to show support%u2026%u2026
We die and suffer so that some of you could live a prosperous and luxurious life!!
Keep your money and campaign to end the BLOODY WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or don%u2019t ask how to help!! as this is hypocrisy%u2026..
And I am honest about this%u2026%u2026Keep you money,
To help women in the DRC, the war must end!!!

- ok, mamakongo, I see, I see. But is there anything that everyday Americans like me can do? I teach my students these things...what can they do? Can we at least write letters, cards, send money directly to Panzi hospital...send these women and girls words of encouragement and love, without the interference of NGOs ? Americans want to help, but so often it''s through international help agencies and so much of what is given is siphoned off for bigwig expenditures. Those who really have the power to help and end this war will take more than talk ...we all know that...but who???will do it???

- All the appeal from NGOS and agencies working in the DRC, will not help the DRC%u2026%u2026 they have been there for so many years%u2026..some even since 1965.
Only Congolese people will help themselves. Give them the opportunity to develop!
And I guess this is not what many NGO/foreign multinationals want, they want to keep Congolese dependent on aids and enslaved to those who are stealing and those who have been waging war on the Kongo since 1454!! Those who came with lies pretending to be friends!
Great women warriors and political strategists such as Kimpa Mvita and Nziga from the Kongo kingdom fought the Portuguese in the 16th century%u2026..
There are great women who are still resisting and fighting in 2008 !!
Just help us end the war%u2026%u2026by stopping the multinationals, the UN/IMF/World bank and all NGOs who are benefiting from this conflict in the Congo, the great lakes region and Horn of Africa.
Stop the war, Bring in investment and aids that promote community cohesion and development of the DRC, otherwise abstain and leave the DRC!!!!

- To help!! Listen to Congolese women for a change!!
We have also visited women from Panzi hospital, all are asking to stop the war!!
They want you to stop showing their pictures and video all over the world as you%u2019re not listening to them, they%u2019re human being who are suffering!! I am sure even the animal in your zoo receive better respect that what is demonstrated by your CBS news/sensation
END THE WAR!
DENOUNCE THOSE WHO ARE FUELLING THE WAR!!!!
HELP END the WAR!! This is the only direct way. - Reply to this comment
- Definitely, definitely follow up on this horrific situation in the Congo. Being a high school teacher, I shared this story with my students. We all need to be aware that the rest of the world does not operate on our paradigm. Also, it should make us realize how fortunate and blessed we are in a lot of ways in this country( although we have our own horrific situations...sexual predators, pornography, etc) and yet there is so much more the Christians of the world could do with our suffering brothers and sisters around the world. Dr. Mukwege is a Christian and it would have been illuminating to show more of that power behind the story. What people don''t realize from the gospel message is that we do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, the authorities and the darkness in high places. If people don''t believe in a devil and how the hearts of men are truly evil, this expose really proves it.This is a spiritual war, no doubt about it...and the fact that some of these women still have hope proves how the light of Jesus shines in a dark world and how we need Him more than anything. Soon all this will come under his authority and judgment when He returns...that is the blessed hope and why people endure the atrocities they do in this world...because MANKIND is unable to fix it!!!!!

- To end the violence against women in the DRC, the war must end!!! END the conflists. The UN must show transparency and accountability!!
As was posted Posted by congomani at 12:16 PM : Jan 14, 2008: who wrote: The greatest help these women can receive is to stop the conflicts in the region and punish men who commit these crimes%u201D
This is the only way.
From another Congolese woman, who refuse to remain a victim but is a survivor seeking Peace and human security as defined by women in the Southern hemisphere and in the DRC in particular!!

Your message shows pure ignorance of Africa and early civilisations. Have you study history?? I would advise you to read books that have references and real research pre- 1454 and understand!!! I feel sorry for you because ignorance of other%u2019s nations/races history ,culture, tradition and civilisation makes you believe that yours is the better or more advance. You will be so shocked by what you learn; you will be humbled!!! Africa is not as you have described it%u2026%u2026and your civilisation as you see is today is not as you think it has always been. There were greater civilisations in Africa, and things have not always been like what you are led to believe by your aligned media!! or for the last 24yrs you have been there!
I was told that American people and many Europeans know nothing about history of Africa, but we in Africa know about yours%u2026%u2026%u2026%u2026and show some respect.
Please show some respect for ours and acknowledge what you have learnt and taken from our civilisation since 1454 and before that%u2026..
Please know your history, you who think you%u2019re such a great civilisation in the USA/Europe, you will be humbled to discover real and great civilisations in Africa.

- Genocide, rape, famine and crooked politics have plegued the African continent from the time the Europeans arrived to current day. I was very dissapointed and saddened by the way those women were depicted in this "ratings" report. The women were not shown any respect and if any of them had an ounce of dignity left it was most likely stripped by the news cameras. They were exposed to the American public like cattle; not once did 60 minutes cover their faces. I am a member of the US military and I know that my chances for survival are higher with an elite team. 60 minutes is the mount Rushmore when it comes to journalism so I expect better tact and judgement next time a sensitive issue needs to be addressed.

- I contacted both of my Senators and sent questions for the debates. I also asked the other news outlets why they aren''t covering this story. Let''s do something to raise the American public''s awareness of this atrocity.

- It is worse than you have shown. After gang raping women, soldiers are pouring hot plastics into them and then piercing their labia and padlocking their vaginas shut. Six-month-old girls have been raped to death. Many women, unable to reach medical care, are dying of massive infections.
Nothing new in all this, though. %u201CSexual terrorism,%u201D the use of women%u2019s bodies as battlefields for male cruelty, for political ends%u2014we have seen it all before, in Bangladesh, Rwanda, Bosnia. What is sad is that the U.N. Peacekeepers there are also raping the women and buying girls forced into *** for food. This is what U.N. Peacekeepers do all over the world%u2014one of the %u2018perks%u2019 of the job. I would call them %u201CRapebringers.%u201D Please do a segment on them as well.
The women of the world need to wake up and refuse to allow themselves to be blamed for their own rapes. As long as we women buy into the idea that brutal male violation %u2018shames%u2019 us, we also promote a worldwide Culture of Rape.
Cooper asks why men do this? As a gentle woman, I have no answer. Do you men hate us women so much that you have to destroy our vaginas and our wombs, the very source of life itself? - Reply to this comment

- A very sad, sad, horrifying piece on the plight of the women of DRC. It would be nice if for the next installment, 60 minutes delved into the ROOT CAUSE of this conflict, e.g. what is the conflict about and who is funding it. It was hinted at with phrases such as "foreign interests" and "vast natural resources". What does that mean ? Who/ what is behind these atrocities ?

- Thank you CBS for this story. I am sure that many people like me did not know the atrocity that is happening in the Congo. There is no accountability for anyone%u2019s actions so these crimes go unchecked. When the UN has 17,000 troops in the Congo and we have hundreds of thousands in Iraq what gives; Oh I remember no oil%u2026 Please do a follow-up on this story and tell your viewers how we can help, you have started this story so please continue it.

So if this is so normal then maybe the women should be content and quit their "whining"? I have heard everything now. If it is so normal, why did the boy refuse to rape his sister at the risk of being killed for not obeying?
No, I hope these thugs meet justice in full. - Reply to this comment
