- 8 And they brought their wives and children together, and whosoever believed or had been taught to believe in the word of God they caused that they should be cast into the fire; and they also brought forth their records which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might be burned and destroyed by fire.
9 And it came to pass that they took Alma and Amulek, and carried them forth to the place of martyrdom, that they might witness the destruction of those who were consumed by fire.
10 And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.
11 But Alma said unto him: The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in glory; and he doth suffer that they may do this thing, or that the people may do this thing unto them, according to the hardness of their hearts, that the judgments which he shall exercise upon them in his wrath may be just; and the blood of the innocent shall stand as a witness against them, yea, and cry mightily against them at the last day.
This is from Alma 14 in the book of Mormon. I am not asking anyone to believe the book, just a thought about what is happening in Iraq to the Christians. - Reply to this comment
- Finally a lesson in History. The story left out that Iraq was the Assyrian Empire. A democratic and Christian based country/Empire. The 3 wise men, baring gifts to baby Jesus were Assyrian Kings/priests.
Assyria was renamed and Moslems invaded or relocated after the 1920''s ( last time outside influence tried to overrun the area -Great Britain) Outsiders have thought they knew best for beloved Assyria. Britain caused a lot of this, and killed many Kurds, Iraqis and no one said or did anything about it. If there was no Oil there, no outside country like the USA or Britain would give a *** about this area.
God Fearing Christian Leader of the USA has ruined it for the true and first Christians.
The Christians built Iraq, they were the educators, the first Oil Baron of Iraq or IPC was Calouste Gubenkian a Christian Armenian, soccer stadium in Baghdad was built with his donations and named after him. Because of western backers and greed for oil, he was pushed out of business by western backed moslem extremists. - Reply to this comment
- My, what a civil exchange of perspectives we''re seeing on today''s forum, history lessons an all! The main and irrefutable fact: life was far more "tolerant" under the so-called butcher of Baghdad than post-Bush, post-"liberation," and not just for Christians. Women, minorities, and even merchants all fared better.

- Do you actually think 60 Minutes truly cares about Christians and whether or not they are persecuted? No, they don''t.
This story is just another attempt that 60 Minutes is doing to stick it to Bush. They have hated him, along with every other Bush hating liberal who are still mad that their party and boy Gore didn''t get into office going back to 2000.
So they will play games and act like they care about Christians in Iraq and Christians in general. Please 60 Minutes/CBS. You''re a joke. - Reply to this comment
- Muslims and other uneducated non Muslim people say that in the old days Christians killed Muslims because they were Muslims. Absolutely NOT TRUE.
There were wars and people killed each other, the ONLY war in history was Arthur%u2019s invasion to Jerusalem to LIBRATE it from the Muslims hands but NOT a single person was killed or forced to convert, that%u2019s not the Christian way my friend. And although Christ would not want anyone to invade another country for his sake (Jerusalem in this case) but as human being we do that, and I personally I wish that the entire middle east is liberated from Islam, as it used to be the cradle of Christianity one day, and for the western world today to save itself from Islam as they are invading it day after day. And I hope not to wake up one day and see the Islamic shareaa declared in Europe and America one day as it found its way all over the middle east.
Wake up world and save you from all kind of wrong believes that you have and ask forgiveness from Christ and accept him. And wake up western world as the Muslims are on a mission to invade you, and this is so true that you%u2019ll laugh at what I%u2019m saying today but you%u2019ll cry tomorrow. - Reply to this comment
- mark19772, apparently you''re one of the Muslims that read and doesn''t ask, which makes you know nothing about your religion, Islam.
Muhammad was and will never be a profit, how can a profit kill, molest kids, marry 42, rob, and even have *** with a DEAD woman?? Please explain to the public.
You calling our Lord "Jesus" the devil, this shows nothing other than that you have the devil''s soul in you and in your kind that are trying to eliminate the Christian faith, because it%u2019s the truth about EVERYTHING in life.
Your kind my friend, fear the truth that''s why you always hide it.
But as a Christian I''ll say to you, may the Lord Jesus open your eyes so you can see the truth and regret your entire life of being a Muslim just like many like you have when they asked for the truth to be revealed for them.
All profits before Christ said what Christ did and accomplished anything after Christ is devil%u2019s work, please don%u2019t be offended but help you to survive the burning hell. - Reply to this comment

- drdaystrum:
If you''d actually read any of Flavius Josephus''s ORIGINAL work, you would know that he doesn''t mention anyone who even remotely resembles the Jesus described in the New Testament.
As you, however, correctly pointed out, Josephus''s historical accounts of the Jewish people were edited and re-worked by the founding charlatans of the Christian Church to provide spurious "evidence" for the existence of the Biblical Jesus. - Reply to this comment
- As I watched the story of the "christians" in Iraq and what a terrible time they are having. Well, as I listened to the reporter he began to tell us about the christians business being bombed, I noticed the reporter seemed to emphasize that "liquour" stores are invariably christian owned. And the inflection I got from his voice and words were as if it were such a terrible thing. Well, did anyone hear the same thing?? Isn''t that the way of the western religions? Instead of actually following their conviction they are just as greedy as the rest of us with their "give unto Ceasar" attitude. In other words they sell drugs whether legal or not alcohol is still an addictive poison according to the FDA and chemical scales. A poison, yet these christians choose it as their business. Yep, give to ceasar what is ceasar''s, if it''s legal it must be ok.....right?

- It is exactly the same to what happened to Muslims in America after 9/11, mosques destroyed and burned, people killed in streets and threatened in there homes, people can%u2019t practice there religion any more, kids can%u2019t go to schools and hundreds of thousands fled to Canada and other countries trying to save there kids lives. Wow I felt when I watched this program that I watch the streets of NJ and TX.

- This can only happen in a country dominated by Muslims Muslims do not tolerate any other religions. It will only be a matter of time until Muslims feel their oats here and start to threaten others to submit to their evil religion

- Human History clearly demonstrates that both Christianity and Islam have been nothing short of a virus, responsible for the most horrific barbarism and whole sale slaughter in recorded human history, and all in the name of somebody''s god! My God is better than your God and if you disagree they butcher you, burn you or disembowel you - very peaceful, very loving isn''t it? The pity of all of this is not only that it has been the domain of human pathology, specifically, ruthless delusionary tyrants or cynical sociopaths who totally exploit the use of "divine" cover and excuse to kill, but the fact that both religions are totally, fabricated human fairy tales based upon and ripped off from thousands of years of pagan, Greek and Egyptian mystery cults and mythologies. To this day, there is not ONE piece of validating, irrefutable physical, eyewitness or archaeological evidence, data or artifacts proving the existence of Jesus. Christianity bases its ENTIRE case for Jesus upon the sole, totally discredited and invalidated account of the so called Jewish scholar Flaveous Josephus who''s, at best, ambiguous account (this is 4-5 decades after the alleged crucifixion) was edited and totally re-invented around 400AD by the Christian zealot, Bishop Eusebius. regardless by desperate Christian zealots who have nothing else except their convenient "faith" - well I have faith in Santa Clause and the Lock Ness Monster but does that mean I can prove they exist?

- Why would anyone be surprised that Muslims are murdering Christians? After all, that "excellent example" for mankind Muhammad himself was a vicious warlord who murdered, robbed, and enslaved his enemies and married a nine year old girl. The beheading we see today, was his idea. Don''t take my word for it -- do your own research. That''s why when a Danish cartoonist seeks to point out the violent nature of Islam in a simple cartoon the entire Islamic world goes on a violent rampage, proving his point beyond any shadow of a doubt. There were never tow more different human beings than Christ and Muhammad. Query: When will the media , CBS News included fanally see fit to inform the public of the true nature of Islam?

- The 60 Minutes story shows the injustice one group can cause to another in the name of religion. Another aspect of this story has turned up and I have included the text from the Guardian (UK) -- A US Marine hands out coins to residents in Fallujah that ask in Arabic on one side: "Where will you spend eternity?" The other side is inscribed with a Biblical verse: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16." --I would like to view this as a bad choice. HOWEVER, didn''t President Bush refer to the Iraq War at the beginning as a "crusade". This word has such a deep negative connotation to any Muslim.
