22 years ago Thompson was sentenced to be executed, he was perfectly sane, now they have put it off and put it off and he has sat in there for 22 years and now he is crazy, he shows no remorse for what he has done and he actually seems to have a pretty good life he seems to be fed well and he even gets all his medicine for free. He has the life. so is this how we punish our murderers?
And justice is some kind of closure for the victims family, I to am a christian and I am not for the death penalty in every case but in this one I am for it fully.
And personally I do not think that anyone can say that someone is a "so called christian" with out knowing them or anything about them or what all they have been through.

Those who are gunning for the death sentence and still claim to be Christian, look back at the bible...when Jesus wrote down some notes in the sand and challenged the jews to throw the first stone on Magdalene. None did! And yet, was Christ then violating the OT, as some of you here insist on the doctrine of eye for an eye?

Now we come to those who argue about justice? but what is justice in the first place? retribution? If Thompson is executed, would that make our society more just? hardly, I suppose. I am against the death penalty because I am a Christian...and I learned this in Jesus...maybe those who claim to follow Christ ought to reconsider and heed his voice for did''nt he said: many call out my name saying Lord, Lord, but i dont know them?

What are we then to do with Thompson a killer? Oh, would paying for his free medicines and board and lodging for another 20 years be unjust? But then, we as humans have committed the gravest, foulest, most rephensible sins that the heavens have forbidden yet, day in and day out, we get the same sunshine, the same wind and the same love from a generous, loving Father. Would it be too much to be like Him? Wasnt'' it the point of Jesus, and our stake to be rightly called: Christians?

He''s already done his time. 20+ years for one murder is far more than most get. He should become a ward of the state and be hospitalized permanently.

Thompson may not be crazy at all he could be just acting crazy to save his on skin. If any one could act crazy & not be put to death they would do it. He really should be stabbed in the back four times with a long butcherknife. He made the choice to kill her when he could have just taken her car.
They have no problem killing some else, but when it comes to them it is a different story.
Either way he should have been put to death a long time ago. The jury gave him the death penalty. It looks like The prison is just keeping him high on drugs. He gets scared when he don''t have his drugs.
Poor Boy
Brenda''s sister can certainly be a christian & I know she is & still wish to see him executed. I am a christian & I would like to give him the shot or pull the lever.
The Bible says an eye for an eye. He would have been long gone in Bible days.

If Ed Bradley were still alive and doing the interview, he would have surely recognized the lyrics Gregory Thompson cited were from the Manhattans song "I Kind of Miss You".

caevsm: WEll the point in executing him is justice. HE is sitting on death row because he killed. It is ridiculous that he has eatin up our money for 22 years to keep him alive. He commited the crime and now its time to pay for it, that is the point.

This case doesnt just involve just this inmate and the family he destroyed.Other inmateson death row in Tenn, as well as other states who could be considered insane I know first hand since my family is awaiting the execution of Paul Dennis Reid who is on death row for the murder of a family member and others in Tenn. Doesnt the fact that Reid is a serial killer make him insane also?
My point is this will open the flood gates for a whole group of people who could fall under that catagory.. and wouldnt that be a shame and a waste?

It should take no more than 1 year to get rid of vermin like this. What a waste of taxpayer money. This scum can recall how he brutally stabbed his victim but is now insane? How remarkable. I wuold have the lawyers who are so anxious to free him to live with him and lets see what happens.Lets get real in the usa.

as well, having compassion is seeing the wrong and the good a person has done and identifying with that. yes, the man is afraid to die. a lot of people are. imagine every day knowing that you''re going to day. every breath you take is one that is allowed to you. you can''t fight death when it comes for you on death row. you just have to sit back and take it. he murdered a woman, left her for dead. every day he has to think that his life is going to be taken for hers. twenty some odd years, sitting and thinking about your own death. I''d go crazy too. think about this, as it was mentioned in the piece: no doctor would administer the kind of anti-psychotics he is on without a REAL reason. don''t you think prison docs, better than others, would be able to tell who is faking and who is not? if he was faking it, he''s been faking it and taking those pills for an awfully long time.

I support the death penalty when it is necessary. he''s been sitting there for twenty years, he''s getting old. he''s not well. what''s the point in killing him? where''s the justice?

this reporter was extremely rude and unprofessional. as for the sister of the victim, it''s nice to hear someone say, "I''m a Christian and we believe in forgiveness so I guess I should forgive him; but I want to see him executed."

Well all the crazy people are not in prison.
If any of you had a loved one killed you would want to see justice for them. He should have been executed long ago. He did not show Brenda any mercy.
Why are some people for the Murderer instead of the victim. He was not insane when he killed her he was running from the police. He is either acting or Tennessee is doing a good job making him crazy so he want get executed. It needs to be done soon, it has been long enough. Sure is costing the taxpayers alot of money for all his drugs & food.

oops, I am sorry, my cat walked across my keyboard. I meant to say, "He is a danger to society and not worth saving"...
Thanks.

Who cares if he was sane, insane, mentally ill, neglected as a child, has a low IQ...he tortured and murdered an innocent person for no reason. He is a dangers to society and now worth saving. Please, omit him from living.

Kasmith;
You don''t get it. He''s playing the insanity card AFTER the fact. My god, don''t you understand? He committed MURDER! He''s guilty, and he KNOWS it. He''s gone insane (if he''s not lying about it) over his own guilt. And he''s running from it.
