If the desired "effect" is the destruction of a country, the surrender of our dignity and honor, the recovery of the world opium supply, and the mass-murder of civilians for not good reason, then mission accomplished!

Do you know how many innocent Germans died in WW2? Or Russians? Or Brits? Hey, there is a war going on here, and in wars civilians die. It is a tragedy, every time. But it is an unfortunate consequence of warfare, always has been, always will. Perhaps Mr. Karzai would prefer we use spears and rocks to free his country from the grasp of the Taliban. He had better hope we are effective, because if we aren''t, he would be toast.

Clearly they did. They reconoitered the homes the day before, then some cowardly mass-murdering moron decided that it would be a good idea to drop (2)-2,000 lb bombs on it.

Some U.S. goose-stepper makes some empty, nonsensical, and unsupported claim that there are terrorists in a house, the U.S. military bombs it, then the Afghans go to collect the body parts of the women and children who were slaughtered by U.S. bombs.

The debacle in Afghanistan is no more honorable or necessary than the current illegal and self-defeating U.S. mass-murdering program in Iraq.

I shudder to speculate how many American bombs have rained down on entire families of defenseless men women & children in Afghanistan & Iraq, since these occurrences are virtually never reported. Thankyou CBS for journalism like this, that is rare in the mainstream media, which do such a great job, keeping the sheeple of America distracted by nonsense. For instance, even though tens of thousands nationwide demonstrated against the war saturday, there was nary a peep about it in the national media. Instead we get ridiculous garbage like the blaring headline on the AOL Welcome Screen this morning, about a corpse (Gerald Ford) calling Clintton a "*** addict".

I support Ron Paul and his non-interventionist foreign policy. Hitlery wants to continue our illegal police action in Iraq until at least 2013, and she does not rule out a preemptive (nuclear) first strike against Iran. Ron Paul voted against the the (undeclared) war in Iraq, which was sold to us with lies. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies--the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. This war has cost more than 3,000 American lives and almost a trillion dollars. We must have new leadership in the White House to ensure this never happens again. Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have 750 foreign bases and troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women. We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing our borders against illegal immigrants and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution. Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations. Too often, we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised.

We are not watching 60 minutes any more. We''ve watched for 30+ years but Scott Pelley''s Afgan story was the last straw. This is war!! Does Scott think the US planned to kill that innocent family??? Would it have been ok if a few American Soldiers had been killed first? What are the exact criteria for bombing a place believed to house terrorists? I''m very disappoointed in the patriotism of this program.

Scott Pelley is the most one sided anti government reporter on your staff. All of his articles portray our government in a negative way. His article on bombing in Afghanistan did not mention any of the abuses of the Taliban or why the airstrikes are needed. How about some fair and unbiased reporting for once Scott!

You have got to be kidding me!!!! You obviously missed his "interview" with Bush last January where Bush was provided the list of questions before hand. Everything about that alleged "interview" was scripted including the photo op with the families of some soldiers killed in Iraq.

You must have missed his "interview" with Ahmadinejad this summer too. He grilled and pressed him like he was a cop conducting an interrogation. The only thing he didn''t do was slap or spit at him in the face and cuss him out.

He should have pressed both of them on the tough questions that we all want answered, or he should have knelt and kissed the ring on both of their hands the way he did to Bush. But he most certainly IS NOT against our government.

It is deplorable that ANY government or agency is responsible for killing children, no matter who they are.
Just because one group is killing children, does not mean that another group now has the right to do the same.
If these deplorable terrorists are hiding behind children and old people and ANY innocents, for God''s sake LET THEM. Then tell the world about what they are doing. Maybe a news article like that could replace some of the silly Hollywood *** you media types are so fond of...

where in the article did CBS call the military murderers? they pointed out that a search had been done the day before and found nothing but women and children. They pointed out that the Air Force admits that it was a bad target and should not have been hit.

Perhaps if you''d bother to read the article before jumping onto your "American First at all costs!" band wagon you might realize that your Government and your leaders authorized this strike...you authorized this strike with your vote in 2000, you voted to let George kill whomever he wanted in a blind attempt to kill bad guys.

But you won''t see that, you and your kind wrap the flag around your faces so tightly you can''t see the things in front of your face.

My frustration with the news and the reporting continues. CBS chose to portray our soldiers as murderers when in fact they are working 15-20 hours A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK to try to save as many civilians lives as possible. When a father decides to be part of the Taliban, HE is the murderer of his family. Conveniently he is not at the house when it is bombed. The sad part is the only child remaining is already being trained to be part of the Taliban, OF COURSE he hates Americans.Too bad much of American public is SO short sighted on this issue. It will once again take another September 11 to wake everyone up and that will happen if we do not allow the military to do their job.

Jowand always supports the extreme right agenda no matter what it is. If the extreme right said we need to fire bomb every school and hospital in Iraq and Afghanistan, Jowand would support the issue 100% and would call everyone that doesn''t support it a terrorist sympathizer.

One more thing, jowand. When you said, "You drop a bomb on the Taliban ..." you are ASSUMING that the troops in Afghanistan HAVE A CLUE as to who are the Taliban and who are the innocent farmers, their mothers and wives and children, etc. Guess what? THEY HAVE NO CLUE! Their "intelligence" isn''t worth a plugged nickel. They hit the wrong people all the time, and even if they hit the correct "target", they also kill lots of surrounding people who weren''t the target. Karzai said "Enough!" That should seem reasonable to any sane person. But it''s never enough for you bloodthirsty, murdering, slimy, evil, sick, twisted MFs, is it?
