- I take offense to Byron Pitts interview of Joel Osteen. I found Byron to be unprofessional and downright unkind. His facial expressions and his dumb questions were not appreciated. Joel Osteen is a HERO!! Joel is positive and uses the word of God in a way that is uplifting and brings people together. The last time I checked, making people feel good about themselves is a GOOD thing. Joel has a special gift from God and we should all appreciate his gift and talent. God bless Joel Osteen.
PS: 60 Minutes, obviously I am very dissapointed with Byron Pitts interview of Joel Osteen - I will not be watching 60 Minutes again. - Reply to this comment
- First of all, Mr. Pitts, do you think you are ABOVE God? Your comments DISGUST me!!! As Paster Osteen tells you, WE all know what we have done wrong before we ever step foot into a church, whether it be Paster Osteen''s or any other church in our GOD LOVING nation. YOU, however, Mr. Pitts need to be on your knees begging our LOVING God to forgive you for your sins. Pastor Osteen reaches out via his television progam to those who are unable physically or whatever reason, to attend and hear the Word of God. There are thousands that do attend services, and how many more are there that watch on TV? I agree that I would rather my children grow up watching this on TV than MANY of the shows that are on prime time television. I have never been so disappointed in any television reporter in any betrayal of a story before. You appeared to do all in your power to twist what Paster Osteen is doing into some type of conspiracy to equal some of the evangilists of the past. Mr. Pitts, Paster Osteen is no Jim Baker, and please do not portray him as such. Mr. Pitts, have you taken the time to sit, open minded, and listen to even one of the Pastor''s sermons? If so, what you did you take from that sermon? I, as I''m sure Pastor Osteen, and many many more of our Christian nation, will be praying for you, Mr. Pitts. As for you, Pastor Osteen, God Bless and Keep You and Your Works.

I am certainly not an "expert theologian", but in my limited experience:
Jesus'' message was one of love and acceptance, which was a threat to the "status quo" of his time. - Reply to this comment
- In a nation where we are bombarded by dirty tv,
you cant sit down with your family and watch a decent
tv (no cable) show without seeing ***,language trash,
even in commercials. You turn on your radio, and what do you hear, nasty rap, dirty rock. You send your kids to school, it seems like you send them to hell. They learn more dirty language, words,***,because that is what this nation is all about, FREEDOM right. So, whats wrong with a preacher trying to change things positively. After all, aren''t we in a world where its either good or bad. He is inspiring, lifting, and motivating. Something that nasty rap, rock and media is not.
I would much rather see Joel Olsteen in the evening
prime time, that *** in the city. Common, Let him do what he does best, and maybe he will inspire your son or daughter someday. Just a quick note: Rap is devouring our youth faster that you can say rap. I dont see anybody complaining about the millions they make from our children everyday, and the lifestyles they live promoting dirty nasty ***,drugs, money and alcohol. Joel is living what he deserves, and well deserves, try looking at how rap artist live and what they preach, it will give you somebody to pick on rather than Joel. I am glad he is taking advantage of the tax free business, and doing a dam good job at it. I cant wait to see his reality shows, Watch the reviews skyrocket for a change. - Reply to this comment

- POSITIVE SEGMENT -- I am puzzled by the comments of those who felt that this segment was critical of Joel Osteen:
I just caught the end of the 60 Minutes segment on Joel Osteen, and I ALMOST turned the channel, because I am certainly not a fan of TV Evangelists -- or any evangelicals, for that matter. And, I find the idea of mega-churches appalling. So, imagine my surprise at being unable to change the channel :)
Joel Osteen certainly doesn''t need my encouragement, but I wanted to share these thoughts:
The "respected theologians & scholars" critical of Joel provided great examples of why I don''t attend church and am extremely skeptical of and generally opposed to organized religions of all types. I am still shaking my head at the premise that Joel''s message of love & acceptance of self and others is such a "threat" to Christianity that he is labeled a heretic. Joel, please take these "expert" critics as proof that you are definitely on the right track. Our world desperately needs more "heretics" like you to encourage people to reach their highest potential and share their gifts with the world.
I suspect that this segment will speak to many who, like me, would never have tuned into Joel''s TV show.

- I think that prosperity gospel is a by-product of an affluent up-bringing. It sounds good from the pulpit but rarely works in real life. As one who believes in God and is trying to overcome multiple traumas, I often find myself wondering what is "wrong" with my thoughts. As a human being, I often do the wrong thing. I find it much more comforting to believe in the God who suffered the pain of rejection of death but rose again to overcome circumstance and stands ready and able to help us do the same.

- Why dont you investigate the Black Church in Chicago where the Rev (used loosly) Wright teaches about GD America and to Hate...rasism? At least Olson teaches soem good unlike Wright? Come On, Be Brave and teach the Bad teaching of Wright and the Black Church in Chicago...if you dont just shows your bias and scared to bring out truth. By the way, what is the black Churc? is it a movement or belief? I have always know religion as a place where ALL are welcome and doesnt see color

- Perhaps with your eye on the pulse of America you could attempt to make use of your position in the media in a positive way rather than attempt to discourage a man whom God has chosen to uplift so many, If you have the nads which I doubt,Why don''t you investigate the corrrupt child support system from which hundreds of deaths are attributed anually, If you really want to do some good, look where theres really something wrong. God gives alot of us hope through Joel Olsteen. May god bless you and yours.
