- SCOTT PELLEY, You''re very correct.
Your ARE a SIMPLE, AVERAGE, American "journalist".
Your interviews always show your attempt to be the "next" Mike Wallace...the biggest fool to ever pollute the field of journalism.
You are an utter disgrace to anything remotely called journalism.
Your biased, Administration boot-licking, attack...not "interview" with President Ahmadinejad was the most repulsive display I''ve seen since Mike Wallace got his clocked cleaned during his pathetic attack "interview" with the very competent President of Iran.
You only prove just how ignorant and xenophobic and venomously hateful Americans have become.
This country deserves to be destroyed.
It has become an abomination to the world.
Most unfortunately, our very own Supreme Terrorist and War Criminal, George Bush, has already destroyed us economically.
It but a few more months before the dollar collapse, oil is either too expensive to afford, or not available due to Bush''s Middle East/Turrurism policies, and the whole frigging economy comes to a complete STOP.
And YOU have only contributed to the problem by further promoting the abominable propaganda constantly expounded by this CRIMINAL Administration.
May you all rot in hell.

- Scott Pelley - it''s time for you to go back to journalism school or to your parents house for a good swift kick in the ***. Your interview with the President of Iran was arrogant, condescending, rude, and embarrassing! I''d like to see you speak that way to bush, Blair, or Putin. Shame on you and on 60 minutes for kowtowing to the washington war for profit idiots who mascarade as our governement. Shame, Shame, Shame on you ! Oh, and that ridiculous quote your read to him from our president - the worst president in US history ? That quote could be turned around and applied directly to bush. He has made the US a pariah in the international community and worse. Scott Pelley, you are not Mike Wallace, you are not Morely Safer, you are not Ed Bradley, you are not Harry Reasnor and you never will be. Your a two bit hack who treated a head of state like a middle-school child. Take your incompetence and be gone !

- The interview was extremely pathetic. I cannot believe how dumb we americans really are. The interviewer seems to be a Bush believer, and is attacking this man like a school girl upset because someone said her momma is so fat.....! Why can''t Iran have nuclear power? We have nuclear power plants all all over our country. Why do we think we are supposed to have it all and other countries should have nothing? He asked the Iran president what he likes about Bush. What does anyone like about Bush? I''ll tell you what I like. He''s a dumbaass that became president! Which goes to show ya, anyone can achieve the impossible! He''s a real ******* with followers who are dumber.

- Ron Paul has it all.
He has NEVER voted:
* to raise taxes
* for an unbalanced budget
* to raise congressional pay
* for a federal restriction on gun ownership
* to increase the power of the executive branch
He HAS voted:
* against the Iraq war
* against the inappropriately named USA PATRIOT act
* against regulating the internet
* against the Military Commissions Act
He will eliminate the IRS, Wasteful Government Spending & Stop The Iraq War Immediately!
Most importantly, he voted NO on anything in Congress that is not allowed by the Constitution.
He is the only candidate not a member of the CFR!
Shouldn''''t ALL members of Congress uphold the Constitution? Aren''''t they SWORN to uphold it? You can bet Paul won''''t call the Constitution "just a G**D***ed piece of paper" like George Bush is reported to have.
If you want a candidate you can TRUST due to a proven track record, visit ronpaul2008.com and get busy spreading the word. The Mainstream Media is a lagging indicator!!

- We stopped watching 60 minutes years ago, as we found that it was generally pathetic and so very very biased, thus I did not see this interview and am only going by what I read here, and of what I know of the Quran..
If we all read the Quran especially the last three quarters of it, we would be under no illusions as to what the aim of these people is... Allah ordered that the whole world be taken for him and slaughter all who will not submit, other than the ones that are to be used as slaves to work for the Muslims..and as their men are very weak sexually and find it hard to control themselves and have no respect for women, non Muslim women slaves are to be used for *** etc..they are to live in peace int he countries that they immigrate to until their numbers grow sufficiently to be able to slowly take over..bit by bit.. not by force in the beginning...
They are to beat their wives, and even though a cleric tries to tell the non Muslim world that the quran doesn''t mean hitting a woman badly, and that the Quran means that beating is to brush their wives across the face with a hanky or peice of material, the original quran says to beat and beat means something horrific.. If the Quran meant to brush the face with a hanky, I am sure that it would have been written as such..
Remember that they are allowed to lie for the cause of Allah, as long as they don''t mean it in their hearts, so in other words they can lie whenever it suits them.. - Reply to this comment
- Wow, go Lantos! : ) One of the top dogs in YOUR democratic party. Four more years of war no matter who we get in the next election. : ) Poor Libs
WASHINGTON (AP) - Congress signaled its disapproval of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a vote Tuesday to tighten sanctions against his government and a call to designate his army a terrorist group.
The swift rebuke was a rare display of bipartisan cooperation in a Congress bitterly divided on the Iraq war. It reflected lawmakers'' long-standing nervousness about Tehran''s intentions in the region, particularly toward Israel%u2014a sentiment fueled by the pro-Israeli lobby whose influence reaches across party lines in Congress.
"Iran faces a choice between a very big carrot and a very sharp stick," said Rep. Tom Lantos, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "It is my hope that they will take the carrot. But today, we are putting the stick in place." - Reply to this comment
- Ahmadinajad said, "We obviously are very much against any terrorist action and any killing.
We know that the Quran says that they can lie to the infidel, or they can lie for that cause of Allah, in times of war, etc, as long as they don''t mean it in their hearts..
However, he is not lying when he says that they are against terrorism as they do NOT count killing infidels as terrorism, but us being in Iraq and other Muslim countries trying to bring democracy they count as terrorism..
What they are doing to us is ordered by Allah thus it is not counted as terrorism by their standards..what we call terrorists, Muslims see them as the most precious of Muslims and are guaranteed a place in paradise because of their great sacrifice to Allah..
Surely non Muslim countries must some day wake up to the fact that all the hatred that is taught in their Mosques, books and schools is not stopped. No one is ever charged for teaching what we call hate.. - Reply to this comment

Islamic Republic of Iran
Head of state: Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran: Ayatollah Sayed ''Ali Khamenei
Head of government: President: Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Death penalty: retentionist
International Criminal Court: signed
The human rights situation deteriorated, with civil society facing increasing restrictions on fundamental freedoms of expression and association. Scores of political prisoners, including prisoners of conscience, continued to serve prison sentences imposed following unfair trials in previous years. Thousands more arrests were made in 2006, mostly during or following demonstrations. Human rights defenders, including journalists, students and lawyers, were among those detained arbitrarily without access to family or legal representation. Torture, especially during periods of pre-trial detention, remained commonplace. At least 177 people were executed, at least four of whom were under 18 at the time of the alleged offence, including one who was under 18 at the time of execution. Two people were reportedly stoned to death. Sentences of flogging, amputation and eye-gouging continued to be passed. The true numbers of those executed or subjected to corporal punishment were probably considerably higher than those reported.
This from a liberal human rights orginization and still you dumb liberals are mad at a journalist asking the right questions. Amazing! - Reply to this comment
- Scott - did you pump your fist and yell "NAILED IT", looking around for high-fives from your colleagues who were strangely absent...

- 60 minutes have always been my favorite program, but this interview by Scott Pelley was really disrepectful and an disgrace for journalism. Is he reporting when he say "You can not mean that?". Of course the president mean it, he wouldn''t say it otherwise. Sounds like educational to me, and I am not interested in Mr. Pelleys opinions, only the interview objects opinions. Thats opinions I was tuning in to listen to.
"Simple reporter from America", Mr. Pelley titles himself. He looked a little arrogant where he was sitting in front of a state leader of a free country. I should like to see Mr. Pelley do a interview like this of Mr. Bush, saying to him "You can''t mean that?" No, no - than he lick his hand, like a dog, like any reporter would do in the US.
Seems like the new hands in 60 minutes is not able to match the integrity of the good-old-guys in 60minutes.
Unfortunately.

- Let me join the chorus of raspberries for Scott Pelley''s interivew on last week''s show.
My main objection is that Mr. Pelley showed no basic understanding of how Iranian politics works, or how very limited are the powers of its president. CBC News had an opportunity to actually conduct a meaningful interview with someone the US is trying to demonize yet it turned it trying to pick a fight. To what end? Wouldn''t viewers be better served by asking direct but useful questions about Iranian politics, why it and the US have become such hated nations around the world, its role in Iran and so forth?
My second objection has already been expressed by others: It sounded as if Mr. Pelley''s questions had been written by The White House. Surely, CBS News must still remember the black eye it gave itself during the trumped-up march to war choreographed by the Bush Administration. Why are you doing so again, and why use 60 Minutes -- generally, the last vestage of what CBS News used to be -- as the vehicle?
Edward R. Murrow must be weeping. - Reply to this comment
- I have watched 60 Minutes for years now and I have never been so disappointed in and interview as I was in the one President Ahmadinejad by Scott Pelley. I found it very embarassing and rude. This is the head of a foreign country who was treated with disrespect. What disturbs me even further is that the producers and directors of the Emmy Awarding program allowed such a farce to appear on their program. Not all of the blame for this "interview" can be put on the mishandling by Scott Pelley but the ultimately blame must be placed at the door of his superiors.

- Shame on Scott Pelley and CBS. His interview was outrageous--one of the worst I have ever seen by a mainstream journalist. I welcome journalists who confront world leaders with difficult questions, but Pelley''s confrontation was rude and clearly a set-up to embarrass and antagonize the President of Iran and incite anti-Iranian feelings in viewers.
The surprise message from President Bush carried by Mr. Pelley to President Ahmadinejad calls Mr. Pelley''s independence into question.
Why hasn''t Mr. Pelley confronted the hypocrisy of American politicians? For example, Mr. Bush''s record on human rights makes Ahmadinejad look like an amateur. Bush''s war crimes in Iraq should be ample evidence of which countries and which leaders are the true threats to world peace.
What we need is truth-seeking journalism, not war-mongering. Mr. Pelley and CBS should publicly apologize to Iran and to the American viewers. - Reply to this comment
- I waited anxiously to watch this interview only to be very disappointed. I feel sufficiently capable of being able to listen to a dictator and be able to make my own assessment. However, Pelley ruined it with his argumentative questions and over the top ego. I really felt Pelley was "Out to get him" more than trying to get a straightforward interview. I can imagine the honchos at 60 minutes saying, "Make sure you get him Pelley!" and Scott Pelley replying "Oh don%u2019t worry I will!%u201D I honestly didn%u2019t get anything out of this interview%u2026.truly a wasted opportunity

- As an academic and journalist, I was appalled at the manner in which Scott Pelley interviewed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for 60 Minutes. His journalistic bravado (repeating the same questions ad naseum, insisting that Ahmadinejad answer questions as ''yes'' or ''no'', challenging Ahmadinejad to give an oath about future foreign policies) failed to unearth any new information, and in fact made Pelly look foolish and biased in front of a saavy and articulate Ahmadinejad. More disturbing, however, is that-- as Ahmadinejad himself pointed out numerous times-- Pelley repeatedly referred to statements and claims made by the current US administration as ''facts'' or even as the public ''opinion of the American people'', when they are neither. It is shameful that it takes someone like Ahmadinejad to remind America''s top jounalists that their role is to question facts and search for the truth, rather than play the role of mouthpeices for the current regime. Pelley''s interview lacked any jounalistic accumen or rigour, and was instead nothing more than a ''publicity stunt'' or sensationalism in which Pelley tried to ''get a rise'' out of the Iranian President using any means necessary. I am a long-time watcher of 60 Minutes and often praise its journalism, but this was extremely disappointing and causes me to question 60 Minutes'' current direction and credentials. In any case, the behavior of Pelley must be reviewed, as many viewers feel insulted by his estimate of their intelligence.

- Re: Pelley''s interview with President Ahmadinejad
I find it disturbing that Pelley''s approach to the interview was in step with the aggressive rhetoric and position of our government.
Hasn''t CBS learned from the unfortunate collusion between the gov''t and the media post 9/11 - pre Iraq?
Isn''t it your job to be asking intelligent questions? "What attributes of President Bush do you admire?" I was embarrassed to hear President Ahmadinejad speak insightfully only to get a response from Scott that sounded to me like begging for approval and submission.
When Scott didn''t get the answer he was looking for, he took satisfaction in relaying a childish message from our childish President.
I am in no way in support of the Iranian government or it''s policies. I am just frightened our government and media have either lost their ability to reason and speak productively or have ulterior motives than the good will of people everywhere.

- CBS quote:
"Ahmadinejad denies Iran is building towards war"
.
Interesting
That''''''''s similar to what Hitler said to the great liberal appeaser, Neville Chamberlain.
We all know how that turned out.
I guess liberals are just as stupid today as they were almost 70 years ago.

- Yea for Scott, calling a spade a spade! It''s also gratifying that while pleasing me he is infuriating the 60 Minutes audience which circumstance also pleases me. Scott is grandstanding, but, my kudos for his dual success.

- That was the worst interview I have ever seen on sixty minutes... even worse than Lara Logan''s tight fitting bullet-proof vest Moonveesian propaganda pieces. Please tell Scott Pelley he is no Mike Wallace. That Was horrible. Simply utterly horrible. But of coursse, you, at CBS already know that. I hope you feel REALLY good about what you have to do to keep your jobs.
