egypt was nothing before the pharoahs and nothing again after until moses, and rome nothing before the senate, and nothing again after before jesus and the huns (yet govs still spy on king jrs. for fear they mite be bin ladens in disguise??), and england nothing and something and nothing and something and u.s. nothing and something and nothing and something ... and how something is an army of men that can't bake because there's no housewives allowed and how nothing is a community of housewives because there's no soldiers allowed?

lars008 - the war is legal? Now that is debatable - it is legal for president to lie, steal and cheat and force the nation into a war that said president was completely incompetent to handle - as we well can see.

One thing is for sure - the war is immoral - brought to us by a lying thieving thug who possesses no morals, values or ethics.

bb19631 - personally I thought there were several reasons for following Iowa rather than someone like ours here in NY -- fact is that in the beginning of the call-up much of the national guard and their families were idealogically aligned with president Bush and the neocons - falling in line with the lie that Iraq was then major source of terror against the US -- and now - through all their trials andtribulations more them are no longer aligned with Mr. Bush.

There was also the added factor of so many family members serving together - further straining families - and even oneof the father/son teams have come to different conclusions as to why we're in Iraq - well , the father didn't but the son matured his outlook on US involvemnet in Iraq while the father prefers to believe that God (I guess through Bush) ordained the US involvement in Iraq.

Quote from article:
"Right now we%u2019re escorting KBR trucks," Adam explains.

KBR is an American contractor paid billions of dollars to deliver supplies. The convoy missions can last up to three days, some of them hauling supplies hundreds of miles from the Jordanian border. It's all hostile territory.%u201D
-------------------

I don%u2019t understand why national guardsmen, or any other part of the military, are riding shotgun for a private contractor that is being paid billions of dollars to do the job themselves.

I thought these private contractors hired private firms (blackwater etc,) with the billions of dollars they are being paid.
Why should the pentagon pay private contractors for work the armed services are doing?

Isn%u2019t that like driving yourself to the airport and then sending a check to a taxi company?

Yes this show did feature one unit from Iowa's National Guard, but I think it was a way of showing the nation what all soldiers and families go through. My husband is a member of the MN National guard who is serving along side this unit and gone through all of the same things. By the time they are home this summer they will be the battalion that has served in Iraq the longest out of any branch of service. Like all units there are some new soldiers, but many in these unit have served many deployments away from their families. One wife here has had her husband deployed most of the last 6 years as a National Guardsman not active duty. I think this was just a good story to show the nation the real sacrifices of this war that most americans want to forget.

That poem is very appropriate and timely for this day. We may not all agree on the politics of this war or how Bush got us in this mess, but ultimately our soldiers and their families are sacrificing for the American way of Life, your right to say what you want, your right to use the foreign oil all you want. Be thankful these soldiers and families are still willing to sacrifice for our way of life and remember them today and always. Freedom isn't free and any of us could just have easily been born an Iraqi under Saddam's reign rather than a free American. What have you done to defend your way of life????? I for one will always support our soldiers and families because I know how hard it is, Do you?

US8th_Hit,

Your poem does not seem to have anything to do with the criminal and disgraceful U.S.-led war of aggression against Iraq.

This is one of the most shameful and self-defeating episodes of our Nation's history, and certainly nothing to be proud of.

We Shall Remember
28 May 2007

Heroes of might and honor
Protecting both young and old
Selfless courage for all to see
Knights both brave and bold

Of power and strength they be
To fight for the weak and affirmed
Defending this land for all of us
With valor forever confirmed

Yes one day we shall follow
You that have gone away
Always we shall remember
The Lord has given this day

Till heaven and earth do meet
Rejoice that we are still free
Constantly you are in our hearts
Never forgotten are thee

One more time:
Iraq was not involved with 9/11. The men actually on the plane were our "friends" the Saudis. We missed Osama by taking our eyes off Afghanistan and taking Bush's detour into a country which was no threat to us. Granted Saddam was an appalling man, but there were (are) worse and more dangerous national leaders out there. The brave men and women being sent into Iraq are being sacrificed in the Bush administration's bloody and hair-raisingly expensive bid for historical significance. (BTW: How many of their own family members has the administration put in harm's way? The rich and powerful seldom sacrifice their children to war.)

We need to secure Afghanistan before we do anything else and we need to get the military OUT of Iraq. Yes, when we pull out all hell will break lose. It doesn't matter whether it's in 4 months or 4 years. What matters at this point is how many more lives will be lost. Who will be the last American casualty in Iraq?

As for them "following us home"? Good grief! Do you really think we have ALL the terrorists busy in Iraq? When they want to hit us again they will. And we'll hit back hard - but apparently the tricky part is hitting the people really responsible.

Iran's secret plan for summer offensive to force US out of Iraq

Iran is secretly forging ties with al-Qaida elements and Sunni Arab militias in Iraq in preparation for a summer showdown with coalition forces intended to tip a wavering US Congress into voting for full military withdrawal, US officials say.

"Iran is fighting a proxy war in Iraq and it's a very dangerous course for them to be following. They are already committing daily acts of war against US and British forces," a senior US official in Baghdad warned. "They [Iran] are behind a lot of high-profile attacks meant to undermine US will and British will, such as the rocket attacks on Basra palace and the Green Zone [in Baghdad]. The attacks are directed by the Revolutionary Guard who are connected right to the top [of the Iranian government]."

MUSLIMS ARE TOLD TO KILL NON MUSLIMS CIVILIANS EVERYWHERE!!!

if it is ok for muslims to kill all non muslims everywhere.... is it ok for the non muslims to kill all muslims???

Switching Sides: Inside The Enemy Camp

But then in 2000, well before his arrest, something happened which would make Abas question everything he believed in: a fatwa, a religious edict, was issued by Osama bin Laden.

"It should be understood that killing Americans and Jews anywhere found are the highest act of worship and the highest form of good deeds in the eyes of Allah," Simon quotes bin Laden.

Abas and his fellow commanders were ordered to read the fatwa to their men and make sure they carried it out. The others obeyed, but Abas refused. It was his moment of truth. He firmly believed that jihad was to be fought only on the battlefield in defense of Islam; he had always been taught that the killing of civilians had nothing to do with holy war and that it was forbidden.

The fatwa justified killing non-Muslim civilians everywhere.

As the wife of a National guardsmen in Iraq that has been through this, I am disappointed by all the people who are choosing to believe our soldiers are all naive, ignorant followers of Bush. Yes, some of them are justifying going with 9/11 because you can not even imagine how hard it is to get on a plane and say goodbye to your family not knowing if you will ever see them or the homeland you love so much ever again. A lot of the soldiers do realize they are there because of the oil and did want to help free the people from Saddam and make this world a better place for our children. My husband and I for one plan on doing our share to try to get off our dependence on foreign oil when he gets home this summer. What are you doing? No it won't be easy and it certainly isn't the norm for our citizens to think about our part in this war because of our own use of that oil. If you don't believe we should be there because of the oil then you better be doing something to stop your own dependency on that oil instead of just saying you don't support the war while you drive your SUV to the mall. Our family will not stand by idly complaining while doing nothing about it.

We got some payback at the Little Big Horn.

Good morning Tool, Little Big Horn was actually prior to Wounded Knee. Point taken though.Extremism is not exclusive and unfortunately it is shaping this world. From the Muslim extremist to the groups that follow Obadiah Shoher, David Duke, August Kreis, Earl Krugel etc.

IT IS TIME TO DEFEAT FASCIST NAZI ISLAM ONCE AND FOR ALL%u2026

In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, then U.S. ambassador to France, and John Adams, then American Ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Dey%u2019s ambassador to Britain, in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress%u2019 vote of funding. To Congress, these two future presidents later reported the reasons for the Muslims%u2019 hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

%u2026that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.

Sound familiar?

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison defeated the fascist nazi muslims 200 years ago
And again 100 years ago with Theodore Roosevelt
Tunisia in 1881 by France and Libya in 1911 by Italy. By then most of the Islamic world was under Christian domination. With the Ottoman Empire defeated in WW1, secularist Turkish rebels in 1923 overthrew the last Islamic Caliphate,

When the Ottoman Empire fell, it took the Kaliphate with it. No longer were Muslims united against the world. For the most of this century, we have forgotten the woes of our fathers, who rejected Islam, to the point of ostricizing all of its influence in our home nations.

Today, we are facing the resurgence of the greatest evil on this planet. Our once arch enemy, nestled within its own borders now, Russia, is funding the Isalmists to fight us. They did it in Iraq, and are doing so in Syria, and Iran. China also gives aid to our enemies.

The friend of your enemy is also your enemy. Yet, the fools that capitolist push for us to chose as leaders, the corrupted politicians who do nothing for the people, but instead, do everything for the business that financed thier election campains, are destroying the United States.
