- Did greed cause a person to become paralyzed? What a stupid thing to say. Yes some homeless are their because of their bad ways, debt, etc. but the real greedy people are rich, you'll find
their names in Forbes magazine. - Reply to this comment
- Listen all people! Life is just one long journey of survival. You must compete to obtain the means to survive in this world. Some win and some lose. It's usually based on attitude and not aptitude. How many of you whining in here about minimum-wage and inflation and indexes do anything about it? Do you give your hard-earned money to organixations that help educate the minimum-wage earner? Do you manage your financial lives or are you a credit-junkie on the verge of a Chapter 7? Talk is cheap.

- So greed put them there.Yes.

Babble on.......Maybe it was THEIR greed that put them there - did they abuse credit cards and bankrupt themselves? Did they greedily consume drugs or alcohol to the point of ruin? Ah, but of course it is the fault of self-disciplined, successful wealthy people who put them there - it just makes sense. NOT! Wealthy people provide employment but it is up to the employed to manage his or her affairs responsibly - OOPS! I mentioned self-responsibility - CBS will bleep that out for sure. - Reply to this comment

- Well there you have it, we have the best medical treatment in the world - if you have money.
What ever happened to the hippocratic oat?........by Long Rider
What? Is the BEST in life supposed to be FREE? Why should we work then? This is the typical liberal entitlement mentality in all it's vain-glory. The Hippocratic Oath doesn't apply here. Do you expect the physician to adopt these people as sons and daughters and take them home to raise? Of course you do - BUT YOU WOULDN'T DO IT! That's the problem with liberals - all talk and no action, they just postulate and pontificate and every other cate you can think of. - Reply to this comment
- The streets are where these folks came from in the first place. I wish no one lived on the streets but that is the eventual destination for many people and all the "shocking documentaries" in the world won't stop that. This is not "dumping" - at least they foot the bill to get them back to their "home"

I totally agree. Add to that the lack of a sense of community, and we are becoming increasingly isolated as human beings. Very sad. - Reply to this comment
- First, I am not at all shocked. I was in a major auto wreck, one that should have killed me. I dont have insurance, but I work full time, and I live in Houston- which is known for the medical center. I was taken to a hospital tht SAYS it does charity work, and boast it proudly. They took me through admissions, where I was identified as non insured, and I waited at least 4 hours before they pulled me back to be check. All the others that came in at the same time where long gone at this point. I was asked two questions, where do you hurt (hell I was swollen all over had many aches- I hit a jeep parked on the freeway and I was at about 50 when the inpact occured) and then do you have insurance. When I stated I didnt, they sent me back to admissions, and stated it would be at least 8 hours before I would be seen. THe accident happend at 6 that morning, at this point it was 130PM and they wanted me to wait. Loophole, not dening service if they send me back to wait, and I leave. SO to be homeless and have nothing....and they lose what little you have- no big deal. The only thing they are sorry about is that they got caught. Now they know there is videos and will dump around corners that dont have a camara.

- I am 52. I was told as a child by one of my foster Mums that America is the greatest nation in the world and It is only cos its broody wars.
I never saw homelessness until greed took over.
In the 60s to mid 70s,one could live, eat right, have the basics. Well hello America.Today nobody cares.
Seattle. Full of homeless people. Nobody cares. They are flat broke, disabled, war vets, women, men, all skin colours, the like. They have begged me for money. Some are there cos the drugs. Most due to being poor. Credit is used. The bloody dollar. Due to your credit....we can't rent to ya.due to your credit...we can't hire ya. and the like. Years ago it was different. So greed put them there.Yes. - Reply to this comment
