- Ahh, I just love all these posts from the supposed "open-minded", "tolerant", and "all- inclusive" liberals--the folks who want to reach out and 'understand' & include groups like the Muslims who are trying to kill us, but yet are fearful and just outright hateful of the "cultist Mormons" who strive to promote (oh no!) wholesome & tight families, moral living, and faith in Christ. Sure, some things appear silly or outrageous, but is not the belief in God outrageous and 'supernatural' to start with? Mormons take no exclusive claim there. But once again, folks posting here show exactly just how tolerant liberals are ... tolerant just as long as you believe and think exactly as they do. If not, watch out!
Regarding the presidency... I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of the same old story in Washington with the same old life-long politicians. I'm sick of the Bushes' & the Clintons! (what, 20 years now, +4 if Hillary wins). I love what I see in Romney b/c he is not a career politician and b/c he has been unbelievable successful in the real world--he is a proven manager and leader who has gotten things done, but still has just enough political experience to handle it all. I want someone to go serve their country and then go back with their family and live their lives, not stick around the scene forever b/c their life is power and fame. Romney impressed me last night and with everything I've seen so far. If he keeps it up, he has my vote. - Reply to this comment
- "...a marriage is forever - eternity -- not just until "death do we part"..."
That's a very moral position.
But there's a lot of truth in Jay Leno's joke that "We should elect Presidents who have been divorced multiple times. They know how to negotiate with the enemy." - Reply to this comment
- All I could think of when I hear Romney's name is "Flip-flip...flip-flop....flip-flop" Why should I let a republican't get away with something they feel so strongly about with each election. It seems to me that the Republican'ts need a dose of their own hypocracy as their own candidates squirm for right-wing votes and become chameleons for all voters to see. It's not surprising to me that the party of the self-righteous has lost all moral direction and can't even get their message solidified. It must have something to do with the head republican't, King George Bush II.

- Romney struck me as willing to take on any position if it will get him elected, and he'll be just another mouthpiece for corporate America. More of the same pandering to moneyed interests.

- Mike Wallace -- you are a jerk for asking a possible (I hope) president of the United States a stupid question like "Did you have premarital ***?" Sheesh, that is so juvenile. We, as Mormons, believe in waiting for marraige to have *** and that a marriage is forever - eternity -- not just until "death do we part." Get real, Wallace, and it's time for you to fade off into the distance. We are tired of you and you were even slurring your words -- a few drinks before the interview???
I'm hoping you are smart enough to quit, rather than be pushed out by CBS, although that would be smart on their side!
Sincerely,

- When Mitt Romney's sons commented on how they felt "guilty" for not signing up for the military, I almost lost my dinner! There's no need for these young men to feel bad that they didn't volunteer...they can get their privileged behinds down to the Army recruiting station right now and sign on the dotted line. The Army takes recruits to age 42, and none of them is that old yet! That "guilty" excuse is the one so many hawks and kids of hawks use to try and make the public think that they actually considered joining, when in fact it's just weasel wording. And the one son who says that you can make sacrifices in other ways, I ask, "and exactly what way did YOU sacrifice?" Missionary work? How is that helping our young men and women in Iraq? The guard and regular military that's been over there for a year and continues to be redeployed? Those Romney kids are as mealy-mouthed as their father. No vote for "Mr. Flip-Flop", who says what he thinks his "base" wants to hear to get elected.

"And that's why Utah has one of the highest pre-marital pregnancy rates in the country!!"

That merely reflects opposition to abortion, not excessive horniness.
The rate among Evanlgelical Christians is also high because of their abhorrence of abortion. - Reply to this comment
- Mike Wallace absolutely HAMMERS Mitt Romney the Republican with ridiculously hardnosed questions. Some unfortunate Iraqui boy lost his family (and arms) due to a UNITED STATES ARMY bombing, so we get a glimpse into his unfortunate circumstances. At least 60 Minutes isn't biased(that was sarcasm for the mentally challenged). I will set the odds at 5,000,000 to 1 there will never be a segment where a DEMOCRATIC candidate for President is given the umpth degree AND a segment on how just ONE family here of a US soldier is coping with the death of their child in the Iraq War. The same child that died fighting for the freedoms we enjoy in America. You know those freedoms, Mike Wallace and CBS? The ones that allow you to make a fortune in this country. It is despicable.

- Ya want to re-tool Washington? Here's how it's done. Take a chainsaw cut around the entire beltway and let it drift out into the ocean with all of the Moron's aboard led by Capt. Big time Moron Bush!! After that it shouldn't take too long to straighten out our mess.

- "The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."
- Posted by mudrose at 09:55 AM : May 14, 2007
Jeepers, where did you read that ?
200 years isn't long enough to become one of the greatest civilizations.
Ancient Greece flourished for almost 1,000 years.
Ancient Egypt lasted (in Napoleon's stirring phrase) for "40 centuries."
The great civilizations of India and China boast comparable time spans.
Were you thinking of the mighty civilization of Oklahoma ? - Reply to this comment

We have added $4 trillion to our National Debt, with Japan, China, UK and S. Korea being our biggest bankers. G.W. Bush and a runaway republican Congress have increased the national debt in 6 years from $5 trillion to $9 trillion. We have accumulated more debt under "Dubya" than ALL 42 President preceding him combined!!! They have looted the Social Security Trust fund of $2 trillion dollars - $1 trillion in just the last 6 years. They then go around like Chicken Little yelling an alert "Social Security is broken!" No, it is not Social Security that is broken, but the Operating Budget that is broken. We cannot continue depleting our federal government coffers, or it will collapse like the Soviet Union did in 1990.
I believe in a far more progressive rate of taxation. We have all heard of the Kennedy tax cut, and a GDP growth rate of 5.0%. But few know Truman raised taxes - top marginal tax rate from 84% to 91% and the economy grew at the second highest rate to date since WWII at 4.5% GDP growth.
If you understood nothing of my commentary (3 parts), please understand this: Run very fast and hard away from any presidential candidate - Romney, McCain, Giuliani -who promises NOT to raise taxes. - Reply to this comment

- duchess14,
I just couldn't resist responding to your post. What did Joseph, (his given name that he was adressed by all his life), gain? What did his parents gain? He lost his life to a mob. He lost at least one child who was left in the cold when he was yanked from his home by a mob. He lost a hoem each time he was forced to leave. One step ahead of society norms is all the revelations are? That strikes me as odd since we have had the no drinking or smoking rule since not long after the church was established. This is still not a society norm so I'm confused as far as how this works into your society norm comment. Why are there no crosses at our temples or church buildings? That is because we see it as a symbol of the dying Christ and our declaration is of the living Christ. (Gordon B Hinckley) You stated we don't proselyte in poor countries, because people won't tithe there. Amazingly, we have missionaries in Africa and other places where some of the poorest live. Furthermore, the donations that we make to help those in dire situations are large and very helpful. The Moutain Meadow Massacre was a horrible event. I don't know anyone that can give us the facts on the events of that day and not slant it the way they want us to see it. I can say I have read books about this, but I don't think BYU would make this a matter of study for any of the majors there. - Reply to this comment
- Romney does have charisma, looks Presidential and has an excellent command of the English language. Style over substance? To determine a politician's substance and integrity, we must look at their record. Romney:-Good businessman when it comes to his personal wealth but cash poor at expanding that prosperity to others. This indicates that he will serve himself financially and politically, put corporate interests over the public welfare. Example..his NRA flip flop.-Has a long political career that indicates changes in positions when it suits his ambitions. He says that his positions on social issues have "evolved" over time. What would his positions evolve into if he is elected to the Oval Office? Bush has destroyed the majority of the American people's trust in our government. Is Romney trustworthy? Two examples. #1In front of a Mormon Congregation in 1993, he says that homosexual relationships are perverse. In 1994 he is running for the Senate and says that he doesn't consider it a perverse relationship at all. He continues to flip and flop on this issue when he elected governor of Massachusetts.#2pro-choice in 1994, to pro-life in 2000, to pro-choice in 2002 and now back to pro-life.A quote from a previous poster:"RIGHTEOUS LEADERS MAKE PEOPLE HAPPIER" Righteous meaning governing with religion? Been there, done that.(Bush) This indicates that a leader may not listen to the wishes of the American people, be arrogant and self serving.

- Go Mitt! Thanks for sticking up for what you believe. It's about time that someone stands for what they believe. Isnt that how America was founded?? For all you haters....why do you try to focus on the "so called" negative things? Look at all the positives and weigh those out to see which candidate has the most positives..... Thanks and oh by the way, the Mormon missionaires are in hundreds of countries. Alot of them are poor and yes, they do pay their tithes. Thanks again and go MITT!!
