Mr. Imus said juvenile, offensive comments but he did not deserve to be fired. These young women were not known, no-one cared about them being second, his comments were a general comment, not specific to any of these people. Now that he's been fired, not only are his fans very upset, but in 6 weeks no-one will care about these women or the comments, and Al and Jesse will have their gigs, while we, Mr. Imus's fans are without his unique show! Boycott CBS, MSNBC, Staples, Proctor and Gamble, GSK, etc...Bring back "The I-Man"!

I'm really sick and tired of shock jocks and others who say racist, sexist stuff and then say they were "just kidding" or whatever. We've got to get less mean in this country or we're not going to survive.

It is truly disppointing that "TODAY" the most important topic on the minds of many is a radio host and/or 2 less than credible preachers (Sharpton/Jackson).

At what point will we come together to fight actual hatred and evil? Will we as a nation, end up mutually destroying each other? Worldwide "War of the Roses"......

Sad Indeed.....

How interesting that CBS has an entire web page with paragraphs that start with the words free speech and yet Don Imus loses his job?

How is that possible? Don%u2019t we live in a country based on freedom, including freedom of speech? The man offended black people, black women in particular. If he had made a statement against white women, very few people would have taken notice at all. There are many other people in the media who have gotten quite rich by ridiculing, degrading and generally humiliating many different types of people, women in particular of all races. Howard Stern jumps to mind immediately. He has offended almost everyone at some point in his career and yet look where he is. But, because he was a white man, who made a derogatory comment about black women, he lost his job. Black men degrade black women all the time and yet they are walking around with huge gold medallions around their necks and living in mansions. J. Michaels

"Rap is a reflection of the black community, and the majority of the black community supports the mentality."

No, rap is aimed at a certain age group and gender in the black population. Where do you get this "majority" thing? Do middle-aged and older blacks support rap? Do black women of any age? Do all blacks like the racial slur in music or is it aimed at a certain slice of the population?

Anytime you aim something at the whole race, then you are being racist and read like something out of one of Hitler's speeches.

Every newspaper, every magazine, every news show, has rules and guidelines as to what it will and will not allow. Evidently Imus not only broke rules, but gave CBS good reasons to fire him.

CBS has a right to protect its image and to take action if an employee causes it harm in any way.

It has its rules for what I can print here, and it has its rules as to how far Imus can go. If Imus goes into hate speech when that is not allowed by CBS, then they can take action. CBS, like every company, has rights also. The employee has rights and the company has rights that are written or spoken. (That is why a lawsuit by Imus would fail).

If Imus continued on his way, calling citizens names, sooner or later, CBS and Imus would be faced with a big slander suit. CBS had many good reasons to take the action that it did.

Rappers use the racial slur, so why can't whites? So if someone beats his own wife, its okay for anyone else to do it ? If its wrong, its wrong. But this Imus thing is probabally making some in the rapper buisness sqirm in the hot seat a bit. A spotlight has been put on them.

Farrakhan can spew out hatred against every non-black; Jesse Jackson can get away scot free with his anti-Jewish sentiments and his conspiracy against Bill Cosby; Sharpton can get away with the Brawley debacle; Harry Belafonte can indulge in name calling with impunity;Bill Mahr can make explicitly filthy remarks about Mrs. Laura Bush on his show and not a whimper of protest from HBO or his audience.

All of you with your new found sense of self-rightenousness: "Doctor heal thyself"!

Get Imus back on the air. Look at all of the good he does for so many. The two week unpaid suspension was deserved. Then a few hours later he is fired. It would not surprise me if Hiliary Clinton put some pressure on CBS to fire him. This country is now getting into the presidential race, and who most of all would benifit from Imus off of the air. Hiliary Clinton that's who. Imus knows what he is talking about. For this Presidential race we need Imus & others back on the air. He is the best sorce of information about the canidates.

A comment on rap:
Rap is a reflection of the black community, and the majority of the black community supports the mentality. To think our country holds award ceremonies and awards rappers who are confessed drug dealers..its a joke. DOUBLE STANDARDS ARE EVERYWHERE. I do not ALLOW my children to listen to lyrics of nicca this nicca that. I have taught them to value who they are and that the mentality is DEMEANING....And yes we are black.
***People need to start focusing on their family units..(or lack there of) rather then the larger complex issues. Fixing the smaller issues will aid in the healing of our society and the correcting of the larger issues. Teach your child how to respect other people, and be an example. Teach your sons how to care for their wives and children. Teach your children responsibility. ****
NOTE: Black people are just as guilty in this country's racial issues as whites. Reverse discrimination is EVERYWHERE. Get over it. America does not owe you any handouts..no acres, no mules. America is a place of opportunity and freedom. Get an education, find a good job, and live your life with purpose and meaning.

It's a sad state of affairs when race-baiting huckster-thug extortionists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson dictate the tone and content of America's media. It's not surprising that CBS, the company that harbored the Dan Rather fraud for all those years, would bow to pressure from such lowlifes. The only surprise is that the CNS thought police allowed Imus on in the first place.

It is Christian to forgive. The Rutgers team has forgiven Imus, why not the "REVERENDS" JE$$IE & $HARPTON? CBS you should hang your head in shame for allowing these moneygrabbers to force Imus off the air.

Your self -righteous Mike Wallace should be asked how many times since his 60 Minute interview with Imus that he has appeared on the show. It was many, many times to promote himself I'm sure .What a joke to replay that without that comment . CNS radio will most likely bring back Imus sooner than later

I am a 55 year old, what I consider to be "hip" Caucasian woman. I am and have been offended by a multitude of (c)rap music in which women are called "ho's", "***", and men are "pimps", etc. No way should Mr. Imus have been fired from CBS - you caved under pressure. If people are going to associate with those who use such language and refer to THEMSELVES in such a way, they deserve what's said and need to grow up.
