McCain hung his fate with the Iraq Occupation. We already know what to expect when middle east countries are occupied. What is the big surprise here?

The big surprise is for the right wing who apparently have little or no contact with reality.

vet71 - sorry, but that kind of talk, in my view puts one on a similar level with al Qaeda - planning to assassinate the Dalai Lama.
Let's decide what we stand for - and stand up for that - not the gutter talk. If you believe that it is fine for the big boss (R or D) to be fooling around with the unpaid volunteer young interns, then say so. I thought we had told the big wigs to respect their position (private bus, corporate or public). If lying about genocide in Kossovo to go to war with out UN resolutions is not OK then say so. If ignoring Rwanda and the Congo on our watch, while millions are killed, then fine. If having crooks in the WH is fine, then say so. Or, take a stand. Personally - I hold those closer to me to a higher standard than others. I expect more of theem, not less. And I ask nothing less than that of the media.

I agree that McCain embarsses himself just fine. And Bill Clinton does stand a chance of being back in the WH (with HRC). My wish is for the media to ask them the questions as well - without the fear of Bill Clinton haveing a childish temper tantrum again, as he is want to do (Jennings and Wallace come to mind). One can argue that the current bunch is more corrupt than the Clinton's, but it's really a push. The progressive media was on to Bill and Hillary - their greed, their lies, their corrpuption - the mainstream media gives them a pass - wants to protect thier own, and the Clinton's legacy. The Clinton WH was a disgrace (yea the *** too); Raidy, Trie, Huang, Lu's, Brown, and on and on - so many convictions - so little media. http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/2001/January/017crm.htm
Want it cleaned up - both sides.

Neither party has come forth with an electable candidate for the presidency. McCain is a bush clone, guilianni favors abortion, romney is a mormon ,the so called "christian" right won't go for these guys.
Hillary and obama will cancel each other out, which leaves edwards as the only viable candidate.
Slim Pickings!

I'd be so happy if Hillary Clinton became president. She is so very intelligent and would do a great job. And, I don't believe for one second she is a big liar. But I do know for sure our current shameful bush is sure a big one. Of course they plan their lies so they can't get nailed. I hope I'm wrong on that one and they do get nailed though. I'd love to see the entire bush team in jail - where they belong.

Pelley's question of McCain on his son's military service was asked for one purpose - to embarrass McCain.

A few for Sen.Clinton:

"Sen Clinton. Talk on the street, for years have been that you and Bill Clinton are liars. How do you respond to David Geffen's recent charge, "that it's not just that you lie, but it's the ease with you do it that he finds so troubling?" Will you and Bill promise to the American voter, that if elected, you will both be more honest with them?"

"Sen Clinton. Thinking of how your husband handled the young women in his office (the people's office), if Chelsea were to go to work for a big shot, just what kind of personal advice would you give her?"

"Sen Clinton. If you were to become pres, would you allow all of those convicted characters (James Riady, etc), those associates of Bill Clinton and you that spent so much time at the WH; would you invite them and other scum like them back into the WH, just like the good ole days?"

"Sen Clinton. In Clinton's last year, starting with that historic bubble stock market crash, we experienced an economic reversal which resulted in millions of hard working citizens loosing their jobs, their health ins, their life savings and their children's college ed funds, as well as the disappearance of $100 of billions in promised tax revenue that dried up faster than a little dry creek because of intense global warming. If you become pres, what steps will you take to make sure that such turmoil does not repeat?"

Why does pulling the troops out mean failure? These guyes have confused the issue so much they don't even remember their original soundbites. It is not a fact, just a guess, that if we withdraw, there WILL be chaos. First of all, we've had "mission accomplished" for years now. We won! We even won again when we found Saddam. How has the definition of "winning" changed so much? Wasn't the original problem that the WTC was blown up? If we stay, WE kill more people and the natives WILL get more hostile towards us, if we get out, they have only themselves to blame for further killing. Let diplomacy work first. Calls for "give our plan a chance" are a cynical version of something they haven't even tried... give diplomacy a chance.

Get those troops home and let the UN and mercenaries clean up the Bu$h mess...

"The Pentagon has released its first ever census of government contractors working in Iraq. The tally, which matches an estimate floating around for some time, is 100,000 Americans, Iraqis and third-party nationals hired by companies with U.S. Government contracts. That number does not include subcontractors, which would likely swell the numbers significantly.

The number of government contractors is roughly 2/3 the number of U.S. military personnel in the country. According to the Labor Department 650 contractors have died in Iraq since 2003."

When you get paid 7 times as much as our troops, sometimes the responsibility is more costly...

McCain's campaign has become nothing more than a headline grabbing, propaganda mouthpiece for the Bu$h administration.

I wouldn't vote for McCain if he was the only one running, so what ever he says has no bearing on how I think, and will vote.

nuff said.

"Well, again, I disagree with what the majority of the American people want. Failure will lead to chaos, withdrawal will lead to chaos," McCain replies.

Yeah! Sounds a whole lot like another ***hole I know. Don't you think?

"Well, again, I disagree with what the majority of the American people want."

If this is just an opinion, it's ok, you are allowed to have any silly opinion you want, but if you translate it into decisions, it is called "dictature".

I was there in 03/04.
I actually did walk around some neighborhoods in Baghdad essentially unarmed and unarmored. I wouldn't have tried that while I was in Fallujah or Ramadi, but in Baghdad it seemed okay.
OBVIOUSLY anyone attempting to do so now would be insane or suicidal.

So I ask, where is the improvement? How are we deescalating the violence?

Hey McCain:

Just like Rick Santorum and Joe Lieberman you stuck your head up Dubya's behind so far that you can't get it out.

Forget about pandering to the Jerry Falwells -- your a political has-been. If your really want to serve your country, then do us all a big, big favor...Shut the f*** up!

What's the difference between this and video footage of Sadam Hussein and his military escorts visiting with Iraqis? These people grew up fearful of their own dictator and being used for propaganda and now they're being used for the US's propaganda that the Iraq War is "necessary" and "going well." Give me a break.

They, the wingnuts, keep insisting that "we are making progress", or "nothing short of victory will do".

The problem is, however, that there is no definition of "victory".

What are we making progress toward? Every time I hear one of these idiots, Bush, Cheney, Rice, McCain et. al. make one of those comments, I want to puke.

Bring the troops home, and let the Iraqis figure out what victory is on their own.
