- Ridiculous. This guy is a low talent hack. I don't watch the POS show, but all you have to do is contemplate how many records Bruce would have sold if he'd have had seemingly endless blocks of prime time TV exposure in support of his products the way this joker has had. American Idol has been shoved down our collective throats for years now & of course they move a lot of product from marginally talented performers. Comparing that effort to the forging of one of the most critically important, artistically satisfying and best sellering careers in the music industry is just plain silly. Simon, you should have kept your silly comments to yourself.

- The Boss vs. The Grinch (AKA SIMON)
First of all there is no comparison what so ever. Bruce is an amazing artist who has been around for over 30 years. His career is still going strong. Will anyone remember Simon in 30+ years? My bet is no way! Bruce is worth 10 times more than Simon anyday! - Reply to this comment
- What a very weird comparison! I'm a lifelong Bruce Springsteen fan, and have seen him in concert fifteen times (a very low number for Boss fans.)How many concerts has Simon Cowell sold out? How many songs has he written? How many books have been written about him, or the influence of his music?
Bruce Springsteen had to be discovered by a "Simon Cowell" to make it in the big leagues, true. But he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame alone, without the members of his famous E Street Band, precisely because he made so many albums without them. In other words, Bruce Springsteen gets the credit for his worldwide fame by the sweat of his own brow! It is his songwriting, his music, and his concert performances that have made him the legend that he is.....and the millions of dollars that he has made.
Simon Cowell discovers other people's talents and makes millions of dollars off of it! No where near the same thing, and not worthy of any comparison! - Reply to this comment
- Im not really into American Idol, but if the viewers got to vote on Judges this guy would be toast.

- Hey, teeus, no one would even know who Springteen is if someone like Simon Cowell hadn't been around to record, market, and distribute his records. There's ALWAYS a Simon and there ALWAYS will be.

- If I was a recording company and wanted to hire someone with a good business head, a good ear and eye for talent...I'd hire Simon Cowell. Love him, hate him...doesn't matter, he's spot on with regard to who's good and who isn't, what works and what doesn't. And for those who he's been "mean" to...they should thank him. No more wasting their time.

- Cowell is a business man. An agent. He signs people.
Springsteen is an artist. Who writes and sings and plays.
In 10 years, no one will remember Cowell or care about any of the mediocre talents he signs to indentured servitude. - Reply to this comment
- "Fox is Tops!
And they do it with one less hour of prime time than the idiots at CBS, NBC and ABC :)
Fox appeals to middle America while CBS tries to insult middle America.

- Most people don't like him because most of the time he's right. And just in case anyone is wondering it's called "show business" for a reason: it's about MONEY. Whoever makes the most money for the company is the most valuable to the company; just like any other business in the world. The plain fact of the matter is that the people who perform don't get famous and have careers without people like Simon working for companies like BMG. My thought is, if you don't like him or the show, DON'T watch it.

- A lot of you are illustrating why Cowell is such a phenomenon - he speaks the simple truth and people are not used to that these days. He's simply making a dollar comparison to Springsteen and his numbers are mathematically correct. Simon refuses to buy into the politically correct self esteem garbage, and as angry as people may profess to be about it you can tell that his opinion is the only one people on the idol show care about.

- cowell needs songs written by old guys and musicians hiding in the wings to present his robot singers to a shrinking audience. flashy production and plenty of sexualy charged teenagers have sold lot of records over the years, but records like that rarely last long in our memory. the music performed on idol was written by people that would never be allowed on the show - if cowell wants talent there are plenty of quality unknowns who write their own material and play their own instruments on myspace.com

- Simon Cowell is a dumb Brit on a lame show. He couldn't be a good patch on Bruce's behind.

- Oh My Goodness...does "Born in the USA" mean anything? I'm just shaking my head here at the stupidty of Cowell's comments. I've been a Springsteen fan for 20+ years. I've been an Idol fan on and off. Cowell's comment is pretty much ludacris. Fan base will disappear for the pretty sarcastic one. He doesn't stand the test of time.
