- Are you kidding me? 60 Minutes thinks this guy is news worthy? He claims the he sells more "music than Bruce? If he is right, he sell more bad music, hands down, the kind he claims to put down. Please, 60 Minutes, get back to some real news!

- Notice that CBSNews did not make provisions for reader comments regarding 6o minutre's Scott Pelley interview with Sgt Frank Wuterich.
Sgt Frank Wuterich gave a pretty good accounting of his actions. Scott Pelley kept emphasising the death of innocent women and children. Apparently Mr Pelley wan't aware that women and children fire weapons and detonate explosives. ANd of course we'll never know if the women and children were innocent.
Apparently CBSNews is on an assigned mission and does not wish to be interrupted by viewer comments. - Reply to this comment
- Simon Cowell = TOTAL JERK!! Who cares how much money he makes? Because of him, I don't watch that stupid show anymore! Sometimes the way you treat people will come back to bite you, (you know where.)

- Dear 60 Minutes, I could go on ad infinitum on this story's lack of substance, but at issue here is the editiorial decision to commit a serious news show to tabloid blather? The dumbing down of America continues. Thank you so much 60 Mintutes for contributing.

- I don't and won't watch American Idol simply because of Simon's hateful remarks. There is a such thing as destroying one's self-esteem---I mean they are kids yet and havn't been into our hardened world of rude people such as Simon....give them a bit of a break. Cherrio

- Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Van Morrison and Neil Diamond come to my mind of other brilliant artists who never would have made the first cut on Idol. I'll bet this Idol craze closes doors for a lot more talented people than who the choose to be their cookie-cutter celebrity. The idol folks are stuck on just one genre and it's that annoying Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston style. I don't watch Idol either because it all sounds the same to me. It's who can scream the loudest and do those long, drawn out vocal exercises from a low to a high note.

- Cowell%u2019s %u201Ctalent,%u201D if you can call it that, is his ability to manipulate and convince impressionable, weak-minded people to watch %u201CAmerican Idol.%u201D He may %u201Csell more records" (do they still sell records?) than Springsteen, but to whom; silly little teenage girls and old ladies? Come on, most of that trash he calls talent are nothing more than glorified %u201CMuzak%u201D singers.

- I don%u2019t watch %u201CAmerican Idol,%u201D because I find it rather boring. Would someone explain to me why people are attracted to %u201CSimon Says?%u201D How can someone who neither dances or sings pass judgment on those talents. At least on %u201CDancing with the Stars%u201D they have actual dancers judging the couples. I dance and sing, so I can appreciate the importance of being criticized by people who have the expertise to do so.
Maybe he appeals to the lowest common denominator in many people: cruelty. Cowell must have some childhood issues that causes him to insult others in order to feel superior. At least %u201CSilly Simon%u201D is doing this for money; what about the ignorant fools who enjoy watching him? This %u201Ccrude clown%u201D is nothing more than a %u201Cwalking talking gimmick.%u201D He better hang onto his big bank account because that is the only thing attractive about him.
I respect Anderson Cooper because he does good work, but I can%u2019t understand why he would waste time on this piece of garbage except to draw high ratings. I hope he selects someone of substance for his next %u201C60 Minutes%u201D interview and leave people like %u201CMr. Mean%u201D to Barbara Walters or Geraldo.
I guess %u201Cthose who can%u2019t " judge everyone else. I forgot, what is Cowell%u2019s talent again? - Reply to this comment
- To bsrasmus:
I agree with what you are saying, but that is not the subject we are discussiong here. We are discussing Simon's comment that he is bigger than Springsteen. Besides, there are ways to be honest to a person without being blatantly critical of them. What he does today on American Idol is purely for entertainment value, and that alone.
One more thing....I wonder how many of today's big music stars would have made it on American Idol? I wonder how many would have been ridiculed by Simon Crowell? There are a lot of successful artists out there who would never make it on American Idol, proving the idea that he knows how to discover talent off a bit. Heck, Bruce Springsteen may not have made it on American Idol, or Bob Dylan, or countless others. - Reply to this comment
- This guy is amazing. Zero talent himself, and yet he sits in judgement of countless others and takes great pleasure in walking on other people's hopes and dreams.
He's not a has-been - - he's a NEVER WAS.
Please get rid of this story - it has been running for about four days now and we are all sick of looking at this dweeb's face and sick of reading this stupid headline that was written by one of your ignorant Indian exchange student-newsroom aides. - Reply to this comment

- I can't understand why this man Cowell is so arrogan and Proud with so little to be proud of. People tune in to see his heartless rants and insults. He is Comic relief at best. Does he write anthems of s generation? Does he write anything? NO. He is a Brit with a gift of mild wit and thinks he is the launching pad for Millions of records sold. I for one wish that Bruce would address this, but as POWERFUL and well followed a man as the BOSS is, he is mellowed and humbled by his fan base, appreciating us as the reason for his continued success.
I would like to crack Cowell right in the Mouth - Reply to this comment
- Let me add to my previous comments. Bruce Springsteen has spent decades writing songs, mostly story songs about the lives of other people. In his own words, he has "slipped into their skin." It's called empathy, and Bruce himself considers it one of his strongest assets to writing songs. He's not putting people down, criticizing them or publicly humiliating them in front of the entire world....he's simply sharing their stories of hopes and dreams and often times broken breams.
Simon Cowell on the other hand has made millions of dollars and worldwide popularity for himself at other people's expense. He is rude, critical and humiliating towards others. There is nothing to compare between the two people. Bruce Springsteen has acheived through empathy, and undrerstanding what others are going through, while Simon Cowell has acheived through putting people down and publicly criticizing them. - Reply to this comment
- Simon Cowell, or should I say simon COWARD!!!! Because it takes a real F*ckn baby,to make your pitiful living off of insulting others.including, Your own audience who pays your way thru life. To insult our intelligence by engaging in childish arguments,to fund your sorry *** short lived career. You actually had the small balls to even consider yourself a contestant on the show of real life.In a last attempt to further your sorry career.I hope for your sake you can take it like you dish it out.You had a coushy little job, where you got to decide what bands were good and bad.1st off who the hell are you to tell america what we like. If you havent noticed by now we dont like you.Ive never been a major Bruce Springsteen fan,But I do like the guy!He may have be born in N.J. but he is AMERICA!!!! He is everything you wish you were,You are a very sad little man. Repent and make good with the world while you can.Because unlike you we (AMERICANS)are forgiving.Stop all the bragging already and lets hear you sing for a change,Cause if you ever recorded anything I,and everyone I know have never got the chance to hear this breathtaking experiance of awe. Careful what you do in this life cause in the end your not the judge anymore.and maybe your judge wont be as kind as you!

- First off, This twit has sold zero "records". He may have promoted unknowns with varied degrees of vocal ability that have sold cd's or music downloads or whatever media is available today, but Bruce has sold millions of records, albumns, tapes, etc. It is unlikely Bruce will even comment on this clip, he wouldn't lower himself to this POS. How many songs has Cowell wrote that countless kids and adults alike have played while cruising down the strip? Zero. And who would listen to them anyway. I've been a Bruce fan for almost 30 of his 38 years in the music biz(can't you tell), and I will be a long time after this self-proclaimed jerk withers away.
