I think the next time George W goes to Iraq, he should step out from behind the chow line in the safety of the Green Zone, don a uniform and body armor, grab an M-16, climb into a Hummvee and go out on patrol with the men he sent over there.
I think the recent story on Prince Harry shows the difference in leadership. NO commanding officer would send his troops into a situation into which HE himself is unwilling to go into.

what happens in a democracy when people are not loyal to their country... I don't mean that we should question our leaders...but what happens when we don't come to a concensus and we become paralyzed by by dissention? Also, all 1000 of those military personnel should have to pay back any money or tuition and pay for any training they have received.

60 minutes would only have 60 minutes left if they in Iraq under Saddam.

I really do not see this nation as being Paralyzed from dissention at all. I see a nation that has been mislead starting to catch up with the Southern Fascist who LIED to them and who mislead them but there seems to be a more united nation today than at any time since the Religious Reich came to power. IF you look at the issues used to divide this nation they all, every last one of them are taken from the agenda of the Religious Reich. When you remove those Extremist from the picture, there's a pretty united nation.

This war is not illegal, as so many like to claim -- congress approved the move. I'd like for someone to tell me what laws were broken to make it "illegal."
War is ugly, but so is terrorism. Nobody "likes" to go to war, but service members do it because they believe in serving the nation and protecting our way of life.

International Law provides that one nation shall not attack another nation without provacation. If you remember when Sir Lies-A-Lot ran the inspectors out of Iraq so he could attack that nation he used the UN Resolution on WMD's... the problem? The Resolution was the UN's AND there were no WMD's, thus Sir Lies-A-Lot is a War Criminal in the eyes of International Law, which he refuses to honor. Strange how criminal types are like that huh? LMAO

Military members are directed to obey all LAWFUL orders. A war based on lies and duplicity, where senior generals have given unheeded advice, being lead by someone who would rather not show up for drills in the 'champaign unit' would seem to be unlawful. Just because someone is in the military, it doesn't mean they're no longer held responsible to think.

I just hope they show both sides of the story. I have no problem with some being against the war - I agree that's a good thing to keep us from loving war too much. But I hope they show both sides so that it doesn't come across that 'the majority' of active duty are against the war. Why aren't the positive things ever reported??????

I didn't realize military members were able to choose which wars they wanted to fight; I thought they swore an oath to defend the nation and its interests -- wherever they may be. They do have the right to have their own opinions and to voice them to their representatives, but these service members have gone far beyond that and are using a public forum to rebel against their commander in chief. I also didn't know these members had all the facts of the entire war and could appropriately determine the legality and morality of the war.

%u201CThe spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then.%u201D
-- Thomas Jefferson

Punishing dissenters for exercising their First Amendment rights makes the very document upon which our country is founded nothing but a meaningless piece of paper. Such an action is more akin to a fascist state and not a republic as we have, or are supposed to have.

Wonderfull to see our troops expressing their rights as citizens to stop the MANIAC NeoCons who are sending them to Iraq to fight and die for the NeoCon regional dominance, War Profiteering and access and control over the vast Iraqi Oil Fields.

Way to Go Troops!

Stay home, refuse to fight illegal Wars. Join West Point Graduate Lt. Watada and say NO to the Cheney/Bush fascist regime.

This is an incredibly courageous stance. I'm sure that they will be smeared and face reprisals by the GOP attack machine and the Pentagon.

"GIs Petition Congress Over Iraq War"

Now, those are heroes worthy of the title.

The American people wisely do not want this war fought in their name!
Military men who don't support this worthless war ARE the real heroes!
