Cut the bull scheisse. People don't want our influence, culture, or presence for the same reason you don't want theirs --- they are not us; we are not them. What kind of arrogant prick thinks the influence, culture, and religion he just happened to be born into should be imposed on others born elsewhere? I don't much care for anyone imposing their culture and influence on me at the barrell of a gun --- f*** all of them whatever their religion. I'm sure they feel the same way about us. - Reply to this comment
- It's amazing how the liberal press has shaped American opinion in the last few years. Here we have a few losers who represent the EXTREME minority in the military, and they're feature story material on 60 minutes. And they don't even tell you how many people have signed the petition during the story because they want to make it seem like it's more than it really is. Great reporting as always, CBS--

- And by the way, mark91968, may this country spend the next generation trying to make it up to you, your brothers, and your sisters for all of us who allowed this to happen. Look at the Bush budget cuts in VA funding. Look at what returning and wounded outpatients are experiencing while seeking care at Walter Reed and elsewhere. Look at who is making record profits while you and I and our communities who don't often go to college fall further and further behind. Did you benefit from Bush's tax cuts? Well, if you are a soldier, you *** WELL should have, but it's Exxon-Mobile, Halliburton, and other Fortune 500 corporations that have received record windfalls from the tax cuts that can't pay for your body armor or adequate mental health services for your brothers in arms.
Don't be a tool!! Resist this madness. - Reply to this comment
- lucasnico...consider this.
"ray111965...you are truly a brainwashed idiot.
Read the statement, jackass. 9/11 has NOTHING to do with Iraq......now please, post another"
Knowing that Iraq/ Hussein has used WMD agianst the Kurds and Iran in the past. And he was deprived of the nuclear capability by Isreal, is there a small chance that given President Bush's 6 month push for action granted by the UN resolutions, maybe they did move or dispose of them as some of his general's stated. Just maybe??? I don't like the Iraq war situation, but we are where we are, and if we loose here what becomes of our country in the future. Some do not want our influence, investment, culture, or presence because we are infidels. - Reply to this comment
- What does Hutto know about Iraq? He was on an aircraft carrier with more people than alot of towns that I know of. He was safe with his hot water,TV, and ice cream. As for those cowards that are in uniform and signed the appeal for redress they are being played as suckers by the Fourth Freedom Forum,Military Families Speak Out,MoveOn.org and other high dollar groups.

But it isn't your fault. You have been lied to as have the rest of us. You trusted, you volunteered, you served and you have been exploited for your extraordinary service. That is WRONG!! I don't believe in capital punishment, but I'd not shed one tear if everyone in this administration is hanged for what they've done.
It isn't your fault, but I do you no favors telling you that it's all been worth it and that everything will turn out OK. It hasn't and it won't. It's been lies from the start. It's still lies. They are lying to YOU as well as me. This isn't about you. It's about THEM and what they've done to you. - Reply to this comment
- "Wake up you bunch of sheep, for your information we are not at war,......"
I guess your right! We should have become isolationist and let communism take over whatever country or land they wanted by force and impose those in power with the power of all the people as they saw fit. I am sure they would have left us alone to prosper in our own capatalist society.
Half of our GNP (Gross National Product) comes from our capitalistic overseas investment and business. Lets just get out and see what happens to the US of A. Open your eyes sheep hurder! - Reply to this comment
- We are still at war with North Korea, why is Bush following Clinton%u2019s plan of giving to an enemy. North Korea should be carpet bombed starting at the DMZ and going north tell Kim surrenders. You%u2019re saying China won%u2019t like that, will I think China could care less and most likely welcome it.

The truth hurts. If you are a soldier, certainly you can handle the truth. What your Commander in Cheif is ordering you and your brothers and sisters to do is WRONG!! He is using you and abusing you and I hate him for it and I'm trying to help you. - Reply to this comment
- You all just want to throw in the towel and bury your heads in the sand and hope that because a full 45 sec. blurred body scan impeaches your right to do harm against the US.
Scan me all you want scan every passenger please stop letting the Anti American Civil Liberty Union from disrupting America, for instance a few years ago in California Prop. 187 was passed by over two thirds of the Voters of the State, the ACLU steps in and sues over turning that vote circumventing Democracy. What happen to Democracy when the ACLU can sue just to do away with your voice and Vote? - Reply to this comment

"Don't give me your *** about what Clinton didn't do, unless you can confront what the Bushies didn't and did do."
Ray where do you get your facts? Lets keep the comments on facts and not conspiracy theories, blogger reports, personal dilusions, etc. The truth shall set you free! I can't belive you would even post this kind of fiction. - Reply to this comment
- Wake up you bunch of sheep, for your information we are not at war, we were not at war in Korea, We were not at war in Nam, war has to be declared by congress, and everything made for the war effort has to be made at non profit. You think this pin head we have for a president would take that kind of action against his buddys.
Absolutly thr worst president we have ever had he will have us in a world war before he is done. - Reply to this comment
- First of all it really makes me sick to see how the media, (including 60 Minutes) would try and turn american patriots against the military. That is exactly what you are doing with broadcasts such as this one. The war is hard enough without knowing that the person I may be sitting in a foxhole with is willing to go on national television and downgrade what we are doing in the Middle East. Agree with the war or not, please do not make me and my brothers and sisters feel like what we are doing is not the right thing. That is the last thing we need. Remember, you enjoy your freedom and the right to voice your opinion because of what we do. So please do not give the enemy fuel to their fire.

- 2. You say this is a war against Islam? Well, then, the Bushies better start owning up to that so they will lose even MORE support for this madness. We don't want a religious war and this war was sold to us as being about WMDs. You are now admitting it was lies and lies that we don't want. If this is a religious war, we need to get the **** out!!

- Where Would We Be Now?
As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from the Southeast Pacific. Staying in Iwo Jima and continuing this war will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home.
We as miltary volunteers do not have the luxury to pick which orders or causes we choose to obey and agree with. I freely joined and even if my personal feelings urge me to disagree, I realize that for the benefit of all who serve as well as all those we protect, I cannot cause "dissention among the ranks". Opening the military to interpretation of orders and goals leads to chaos, dissention, low morale, and ultimate death.
If you disagree with your commander in chief, then please fullfill your commitment honorably and then get out of the military. Perhaps to join the political system and change/prevent what you protest now. Together we are stronegr as one than a splintered group appealing to the mass. - Reply to this comment

ray,
1. Bush had chances to have that POS deported to Bush friendly S.Arabia. Bush had more than six months more chances to respond to the USS Cole bombing than did lame duck Clinton.
BUSH however, was too busy hosting the Taliban who PROTECTED that POS. There were on American soil in this nation's capital at Bush's invitation. Later, they were funded $43 million of US taxpayer dollars even while they harbored Osama bin Laden. Say what you want about Clinton, but Bush is the one funding their protectors. The entire world officially considered that barbaric regime an illegitimate and illegal authority of Afghanistan. Even by US law, they were under sanctions. When BUSH broke those sanctions against the rest of the world, he put this company in the fine company of Pakistan, S.Arabia, and Yemen as being the only countries in the world with diplomatic relations with the Taliban --- while they openly protected Osama bin Ladin.
Don't give me your *** about what Clinton didn't do, unless you can confront what the Bushies didn't and did do. - Reply to this comment
- There has been a massive deception of the American public about our goals and objectives in maintaining an occupation force in Iraq. In the Iraq "war" there has never been a defined enemy, never a declaration of war, and no clear cut objectives for "winning". Sound familiar? It is exactly the same type of situation we had in Vietnam for 15 years! Consider the fact that our troops are an occupation force on the defensive without a clearly defined enemy and neighboring states Iran and Syria are infiltrating and supporting the resistance. At 400 Billion dollars and climbing, the cost of the Iraq occupation is staggering. Sadly, there are many vested interests in this country that profit from military activity like this. War is big business in America and the only people that have truly benefited are the defense contractors. What is it we are hoping to accomplish in Iraq? A self supporting government? This is not going to happen because of external and internal pressures. Without our presence, the country will quickly return to the same type of strongman government it had before. We are trying to foist our democratic systems and thinking on people that have hated and fought each other for thousands of years. It's not likely that they will change anytime soon. So, what will it take to leave Iraq? From past experience, we know that our government does what it wants without consideration for public opinion.
