I for one am amazed how the Media is making it seem like African American's as a whole are against this man. That's the quickest way they thought they could bring him down. It's obvious negativity from other races is expected but to get him in the jugular they want to make it seem that the very people who he may consider his motivation aren%u2019t welcoming him. I am also disturbed that on the home page every bullet point about Obama and this interview points out negativity; -He inhaled, -Not black enough -Is he Qualified, -Funny Name. I mean come on is he Qualified? Why are we going to the extreme to question his qualifications? Is it because he's black? As if we put our last president under this same microscope. (It's obvious we would have sent the horns blazing with the word Ignorant light in bold letters if we had.) Then they run out of things to say, so to belittle him even more they bullet "Funny name". We are losing focus of the fact that this could be the leader of our country not just the first black man in power.

As a 44-year-old, white male who has had the good fortune to have worked with many great leaders, including in communications positions for a former president and the Governor of California, started and sold an internet business (working out of a garage in Los Angeles), been a single parent (now married and the parent of three), and, as an entrepreneur who spends a good deal of time in Mexico, has walked the daily tight-rope of 'success' and 'failure,' I've never considered supporting, much less voting for, anyone associated with the Democratic party.

Based on my own experience both in business and helping influence public perception, reading Senator Obama's 'The Audacity of Hope,' and learning more since his announcement, I feel passionate, again, about our future. It's clear to me that he's undeniably the real deal %u2013 and should be our next president.

I thought the opening bit about Senator Obama's name was unnecessary. 60 Minutes is one of the few remaining news shows that I feel I can trust. If 60 Minutes starts channeling Fox News, I'll soon add them to my listed of untrustworthy news shows. Senator Obama's name, like the color of his skin, has nothing to do with his qualifications (or lack thererof)to be President of the United States.

Obama has more experience than one of our greatest president Abe Lincoln. Lincoln never made it to the Senate and he presided over the most fractous time in our history. Plus we elected George Bush and where did his experience get us?

And I would ask that you extend to me the same courtesy you would ask for yourself: Don't assume you know more about me than you do, and please try not to tar and feather me with your racist brush simply because I may disagree with you. It's a well-worn and very tired tactic.

Daylily, how did I prove the point that Barack Obama could be killed at a gas station? I'm assuming that, by my bringing up some salient facts, you feel I've exposed myself as a murderous racist.

As a white American who was lectured by my father about the use of the N word and took it to heart, I find it sad that I must accept a blanket charge of being racist because I merely point out statistics that are indisputable.

Marinate in your victimhood all you want. But also remember Oprah, Colin, Condi, and yes Bill Cosby, as well as all the others who decided to take the opportunities offered up by the better part of this nation and better themselves through education and hard work.

Definitely Michelle Obama was speaking of a white killer at that gas station. Otherwise, she wouldn't have attached the disclaimer "as a Black man." She was also hinting at what is to come. If we Americans don't think this will bring peoples' sensitivity about race to the fore, we're mistaken. I could see the air go out of Barack when his wife made that remark. And it's interesting that CBS used it to highlight their interview. Many white Americans feel they are off the hook for their guilt over treatment of black people, and have felt that way for years. It was our generation of baby boomer whites and blacks who overturned the institutitional prejudice directed at black people in this country. Now we react to charges of racism differently. We want to know. Why are 70% of black families without a father in the house? Why are the crime figures for black perpetrators so disproportionate among all the other groups? There are serious questions African Americans need to ask themselves (or face stern lectures from Bill Cosby) before wild card charges of racism and hints of gas station murders, such as the one Michelle Obama refers to, are taken to heart. Without an admission of complicity in their own predicament, which no politician is brave enough to address, charges of racism will not be heard with the depth of gravity as they once were.

It should be interesting to see how the Clinton(s) politically destroy Barack Obama, while simultaneously proclaiming "to feel the pain" of black people.

Jonstar3,
You just proved that Mrs. Obama was being realistic when she made the statement that Senator Obama could be shot at a gas station. I watched the same interview and did not notice the air going out of the Senator when she made the remark. Society as a whole could stand some lectures on parenting and crime. As an African American I don't think Bll Cosby is the best person for this job due to the number of times he has been caught with his hands in the immoral cookie jar

Obama, not quite yet. Says he would talk to the enemys and open the door. Why? Iran says they want to kill all christians and blow Israel off the map. Looks like theres no talking with those types period.....They are not going to change their views. Is a religion thing. Christians brought us Americans to this point. And having dinner with the enemy is OUT!!!!!!!!!

Candidate Obama's sense of urgency?? What about common sense? While being interviewed, sitting in the back seat of his SUV, I was shocked to see that Mr. Obama does not even have the experience to know that he should wear a seatbelt!! His wife is a healthcare executive and he spoke about health care for everyone. People who are in accidents where they do not wear their seatbelts increase healthcare costs for everyone!! Where does not wearing a seat belt fit into his agenda? Never mind the poor example he was setting, wearing seatbelts is the law and he was breaking the law in his home state of Illinois by not wearing one. If he does not have the common sense to routinely wear a seatbelt, what does that say? And, where were his advisors when he needed them? What was he thinking???

Greetings, coleman5
I did not think Mr,Kroft question to Senator Obama about his race was insentive. As an African American I am sure Senator Obama was please to have the opportunity to educate people as to what society perceive to Black or African American. My grandson has a Polish father and a Black mother. He is Black by the rules of the american society. If he is profiled by the police, They don't care if his father is white. The question also provide an opportunity to enlighten those who say racism is not a problem. It should not be, but it will be a great part of this election. I just hope people will vote will vote their brains and not their prejudices.

Obama is going to have to face the fact that his skin color is a issue for "select" folks in this free and great nation. Many of those "Select" folks have a lot of pull and clout and will use some ugly tools in their aim to discredit him, because of his skin color.
The media bringing those kinds of race-related questions out in the open and discussing them with him in a public forum is the best thing for Obama to do. There is a stong if quiet thread of racism in this country, and he must be able to handle that element of negativity with grace and ease. Showing a calm temperment and a level head now gives clues to his capabilities under the more varied pressures of the White House.

I really like his message, it is exactly what this country needs, a president to pull the American people together again.

But, like Rush Limbaugh who has already made fun of Mr. Obama, there will always be those who want this country to remain divided to keep the power located only among those who think and look alike. We've got Limbaugh Loyalists who take his word without question and who already discount Obama without even listening to his message. We got Bush for 8 years because of people like Rush Limbaugh's constant brainwashing. Lets not make the same mistake again.

Please. Listen to the actual candidates and make up your own mind. Don't let media figures upset or influence your personal decision. They. Are. Paid. Do you tell your boss what you will or will not do? Neither do they.

Obama is not now a Muslim. However, Obama himself admits his father was Muslim. By Quran teachings, the faith of Obama's father makes him a "Muslim". Maybe not in our eyes as Americans, but in the eyes of Muslims throughout the world. I accept Obama exactly as he presents himself; but, how does Khomeini and Ahmadinejad perceive him?

http://www.islam-watch.org/ImranHossain/apostasy_in_islam.htm

What I most concerned about is by Koranic teachings, he is an apostate and it is the duty of Muslims to behead him. Would Obama become a target of assassination? Would foreign leaders seek to have him killed? Would domestic Muslim clerics in the US call for his death? Would he be condemned by the 1.6 billion Muslims in the world? Any person's religion is fine for Americans. But if one sect calls for the death of apostates, and we elect one as President, what effect will that have on foreign policy?

Ask a Muslim cleric to address the issue of whether Barack Obama is a Muslim. It seems almost undeniable. It does not matter what Obama himself believes; it is how he is perceived in the Muslim community, the Ummah.
