I feel Cheney is running the White House and not Bush. Cheney keeps a low profile, but appears to have control of apparently anything related to the Iraq War including, Cheney's picked man, Donald Rumsfeld. Colin Powell, a man I greatly respect, has since left the White House why? Was he seeing the same mistake we made in Viet Nam? They did not send enough troops to get Bin Ladin when he could have been caught in Afghanistan. They haven't got enough troops to do the job now. Other retired general's also voiced their opinion. But, general's currently serving will not say a word, fearing they will not move up in rank. They need to tell america the truth. Being a viet nam era veteran, I am extremely upset seeing the loss of america's greatest treasure (american youth) being killed, losing body parts , detroying their mental health, and the destruction of their families through financial and emotional hardship.

Thought I was watching the Colbert Report when I read the post "Bush Greatest President Ever." Chuckle, he's certainly the greatest president ever for the terrorists. He has spawned more terrorists than he will ever kill. Why do you think the terrorists always release their tapes right before our election cycle-- they want Bush to win. He's their terror recruiting poster child.

It's the same crop of repubs that gave Iranians missle technology for hostages while saying they would never deal with terrorists, who funded right wing terrorists in Central America, who played golf while Bin Laden was making his plans. www.loosechange911.com may be closer to the truth than anyone will dare admit.
As for the liberal media, what a myth. If there ever was one it's gone now, and 24-hour day hate spewing talk radio and 24-hour a day Republican News Network Fox (or RNN) more than make up for a few Hollywood actors and fence stradding CBS. Network news is mostly designed to scare people and then sell them drugs to reduce fear or enhance their internal plumbing - doesn't care much about politics except has to how it will affect ratings. Thank goodness for the web and Reuters News service.

I always admired Mr. Woodward. But now I think he is being an opportunist. Americans are not stupid. We are well aware that the White House has been glossing over the problems with Iraq.
We watch and read the news and know how bad it is.
He's not telling us something we don't know.

I think the idea of Mr. Woodward going on TV to sell his book and make money off this sad situation is hideous.

G and S: Does "completely lost touch" ring a bell? When our grandchildren and great-grandchildren are rocking in the old folks home, America will still be paying for this fiscally irresponsible president's debacle (called Iraq and Afghanistan). W hasn't taken on terrorism! He has made America weak, financially and militarily (stretched). What is your argument going to be when (not if) terrorists strike on American soil again? You've credited W with something that hasn't been proven (the 9/11 terrorists reportedly planned for five years, watching and waiting). The war on terror has already been lost from the point that no government can continue running on its sympathetic nervous system generation after generation. We're BROKE now! W has opened Pandora's Box. Why not acknowledge that? CBS is simply reporting the truth (you've lost perspective watching Fox News: how'd you like that B-slap administered by Clinton last week). Face it, Woodward has hardened facts. You've got jingoism. Let's do hope that the American public IS smarter than at least the twins here.

Gee, wasn't it the Republicans who chose Noriega as our buddy in Latin Amertica. And wasn't it the "Great Communicator" President Reagan who picked Bin Laden out as our best buddy to fight the Russians in Afganistan and then armed Saddam to fight Iran? Don't you think something is wrong with conservative American foreign policy?

And why is it the prople who were too busy to serve during the Vietnam war are so eager to send someone else's son and daughter to war and not theirs?

If you so strongly believe in Bush's current policies then put your money where your mouth is and join up and experience the thrill of war before it is too late. If you are too old too fight then you can still go and drive a truck for Haliburton. Eitehr way do something besides ******** about the liberals.

P.S. I am still waiting for the big parade in Iraq where all of the Iraqi people welcom the U.S. with open arms that Cheney and his crooked-iraqi buddy Chaballa promised us

In a recent GW Bush speech, he complained about "Cut and Run" Democrats. To the best of my knowledge, neither one of the Bush daughters nor any of the Bush nieces and nephews are serving in the military in Iraq. What is that all about?
Are they "Hide and Seek" Republicans.

Woodward's book deals with issues that every voting American should be watching and tracking. These issues are essential to understanding the thinking of this administration and the way we wnet to war with Iraq and the subseguent aftermath. It will take decades to resolve this debacle called the Iraq war on terror. Why would this administration let Kissinger have such influence on it's Iraq policy? One reason is Kissinger's whole premise is the U. S. lost it's will during Viet Nam. Well Mr. Kissinger, we also lost 58,000 service personnel. In addition we now know that LBJ used the Gulf of Tonkin incidence to escalate the Viet Nam war. This incidence was falsely reported, Ummm... can anyone draw parellels between the two?

Maybe the conspiracy with the Arabs on oil prices falling before the 2004 election did take place, like right now. The year was just wrong. Should have been the 2007 elections. Of course, this agreement could have been made when Cheney met behind closed doors with the Oil Company Execs and the press was not allowed in...but we will always have those around us who find it very comfortable to follow and not think for themselves. If you don't believe it, read some of the comments that follow.

An IQ test? Bush lost all three debates last election and STILL got elected! When will at more than 49 percent of the country wake up and get a grasp of what's so pitifully obvious? How much more lying, stealing and covering up will it take to get people motivated to stop this distruction of our national character? It's so SAD!!!

As I recall, it was Mr. Woodward who, in his last book, revealed a secret agreement between the President and Arab nations that gasoline prices would fall dramatically before the 2004 presidential election.

Mr. Woodward should go quietly. His day in the sunshine is over.

George Bush will go down in history as the greatest president we ever had. He took on terrorism in a way that no other president had to guts to do and we are killing them every day. Don't any of you liberals understand that the terrorists want to kill your babies? If Bush wasn%u2019t going after them then you would be complaining that he wasn't doing enough. You are simply a bunch of Bush hating partisans who actually would LOVE to see us lose this war on terror, you know, that%u2019s just SHAMEFUL!!!!! Well the American people are smarter than that, they understand that we face a long battle, and that is why we will retain power in Washington in November. Sorry Libs, its just the way it is!!!! I know that your liberal media (CBS News) and Hollywood freaks are trying hard to deceive the American people, but its just not working, Americans are just to smart for your mind games,Bush is rising again in the polls just, now that%u2019s frustrating isn%u2019t it

You have had this lame story up for days now....is it really that big of a deal? come on CBS, report real news. Why are you abusing your power and giving a stage for one of your reporters to promote another Bush Bashing conspiracy book....... You guys have been trying to be politically left for years and where has it got you? A government full of republicans, and a republican white house.... Obviously left ideas is not what the people want. Why not give up and just report the news, I'll bet if you did your ratings would skyrocket like Foxnews tries to do (#1 cable news station, double the ratings of CNN).

""Wellz because you southern jerks voted this "misleader" back in. Think it was forit for Jesus?""

Wait just a minute, zcat999! I am both southern and consider myself Christian. I voted for Duhbya neither time! My brother and I have had several loud acrimonious arguments about 'his highness' and I do believe said brother has finally seen the light. I firmly believe that Duhbya is not a Christian. No Christian would act as he has for the last 6 years.

We have a president whose reality is that he hears God giving him directions to invade Iraq and that he is the appointed messenger of God.

Bush said December 18, 2000 on his first trip to Washington after the Supreme Court election that, "If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier--just as long as I'm the dictator."

In Texas on May 21, 1999 he addressed the Texas State House and said, "There ought to be limits to freedom."

Guess what, Congress gave this "messenger" untold and unknown powers by passage of the Military Commissions Act of 2006.

While studying psychiatry, Bush's statements and actions would have been a signal of instability that required close monitoring. Yet our "Do Nothing, Know Nothing" Congress gives him more power.

What's next?

All Bush's bluster about democrats being on the side of the terrorists. Have you EVER heard a president insult his constituents in such a despicable way?

After reading this the only thing he deserves is spit in the face.

To lie to us for so long and all the time eroding our freedoms, insulting us, killing our soldiers, no-bid war profiteering, degrading our standing in the world, making us less safe, running huge deficits, increased government spending by 45% on his watch, ignoring Katrina and the aftermath.

HE IS TREASONOUS! HE IS A CRIMINAL!

HE IS OUR ENEMY!!!!

It is a sad day when memmbers of Bush's cabinet have to lie to cover up his failed policy. Let's use a little common sense here. The Koran will not allow for a Democratic way of life period. This is a religious war that has been fought from the beginning of mankind, we are not going to change it.Senior military commanders warned the administration about having a contingency plan yet they were brushed off. Retired Army General Eric Shinseki stated this. He was chastised and forced to retire. When he retired after 30 years of military service the Secretary of Defense did not nor did he send a represenatitive to the man's retirement ceremony, that is very disrespctful. Bob Woodward has no reason to lie, what could he possibly gain from it.It's time for voters to take a good hard look at what is going on with this senseless war. Most people tolerate it until it hits home. Let's not wait for the call in the night to inform you of the death of a loved one before you change your opinion on this administration and the misconception they have given the country.

With Woodwards book, the NIE report and all the retired generals who have come forth in the last week this smells of something more sinister than watergate. Now will the press or an independent counsel do a swift thorough investigation?

What a mess! Little by little the truth is being uncovered and I believe the people who allowed George W. Bush to be their front man are going to have to reconsider what they're going to do next. You don't stir up a bee hive and then tell everyone to come to the picnic and oh..."don't worry about those little bees. They're just our allies."

The masses may be ***** but really now...how big of a shovel is it going to take to make us all sing, "Don't worry...be happy"? I think *** Cheney needs to step up to the plate and admit that its been his party all along. I don't think anyone would be surprised, do you? Just dress Rumsfeld up like a "macaca" and get on with the show. Hopefully, the public will recognize it for the flop it is and close.

%u2026well, well, well. Thanks God, that we still have people like Bob Woodward, and the FREE PRESS. One thing however, that is missing in this blame game is the role of BIG OIL - America's heavy weights EXXON MOBIL, CHEVRON, SHELL, CONOCO and BP. Add VP Cheney's Halliburton, Kerr McGee, and the list goes on.
Democracy in America. There is no democracy. There is only world of EXXON, DUPONT, HALIBURTON, WALLMART, and on, and on. These are the nations of the new world order, and their ideologies are PROFITS ONLY. Did you know that 5 big oils profits for Y/2004 was $81 billion, and for Y/2005 - $113 billion? Is there anyone in America that cannot be bought with this money? Some of this money goes to Republicans, and some to Democrats for their elections. Unfortunately we only have this illusion about democracy, but the real power is in corporate America. They voted G.W.BUSH and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Democrats or Republicans agenda comes from corporate USA, and our sons and daughters are only fighting and dying to protect their corporate profits and markets. It is a very sad and scary world out there.

Bob Woodward's first two books about the war and occupation of Iraq failed to mention the juicy information contained in this new book. I do not believe that he did not have knowledge of these facts and simply find them, while reviewing the previous notes from 2002-2004.

This book along with Colin Powell's new book and the other events of the past week should be the tipping point for the American public in regard to this war, which has no end in sight and cannot be won without raising taxes and expanding the military by bringing back the draft.

It is immoral to go to war and put your soldiers life's at risk, when it is not necessary. Both North Korea And Iran have WMD and delivery systems. Iraq had neither. With only 7,000-10,000
infantry left in our strategic reserves, we can do nothing about the real threats to our nation.

Was Clinton's 10 minute interview with Fox news made with the knowledge of the info contained in Woodward's book about Dr Rice's meeting with the CIA in July of 2001? The Clinton interview, her response, and Woodward's book has undermined her creditability. Too good to have occured by accident.

I agree with the new book, however these points should have been made much earlier. He has done the American people an disservice by failing to do so. He is a rat leaving a sinking ship!
