"His 'evidence' would be inadmissible as hearsay in any court; or at best ambiguous."
Yes. Kind of like the "evidence" that Bush used to drag us into Iraq. - Reply to this comment
- B628537,
I don't know... the generals have spent their lives in the military, which is all about following orders without question. Without that, the military would be useless. Speaking out the way they are goes against everything they've been taught and everything they believe in, I would think. Seems to me they are sticking their necks out quite a bit here. - Reply to this comment
- You should be ashamed of yourselves, shilling for Woodward and his book (published by a sister-company, right?).
His "evidence" would be inadmissible as hearsay in any court; or at best ambiguous.
This has confirmed for me that Andy Rooney is still the most trusted and informative segment of the show. - Reply to this comment
- FARTKNOCKER2,
Disinformation... you mean like, "Saddam has weapons of mass destruction" and "the Iraqi people will greet us as liberators."
That kind of disinformation? - Reply to this comment
- What is really bothering is the generals in our own military establishment whimp out at openly objecting and telling Rumsfeld he is wrong. And I thought they were known for their courage! Seems like all we have leading our military forces are a bunch of mindless paper pushing yes-men who will let their own troops get injured and killed simply to keep this old clown happy. The ones who retired and have complained have proven very ineffectual at stopping the situation. Guess that reitement pay check means more to them than our soldiers in Iraq. Shame on all of you Generals!!!

"They are trying to take everything they can and use it for political gain regardless of its validity or its pertinence to any issue."
That is an excellent description of the Bush administration! - Reply to this comment
- The 43rd Chief Executive should have invaded Iran & perhaps Pakistan. Put Saddam back in charge & the war would be over.

They want people to think that wars are like TV shows, they last for a short time than they are over and if it doesnt work that way than we have failed. They are trying to take everything they can and use it for political gain regardless of its validity or its pertinence to any issue. They are simply fighting on the basis of emotional feelings (ie showing pictures of dead children in the war zone w/out showing the beheadings of Americans and the terrorists launching rockets at our men and women, or the WTC attack) I heard one democratic supporter and analyst say %u201Cpolitics is emotional, not logical%u201D Is that who we want running this country???? - Reply to this comment
- Michael Moore has single handedly started a new industry in America "President Bashing". Ever since Fahrenheit 911 the liberal media discovered a new market to make some cash further the liberal cause. From a logical standpoint all these people are doing is taking things out of context, making things sound like issues that are not really issues (ex. Bush saying that we would still win this war on terror even if it were just his wife and his dog Barney that supported it), and reiterating things that have been said thousands of times (The war in Iraq is difficult). They are using cheap tricks to make a quick buck and boost the morale of the suffering democratic party. After failed attempts or non-attempts to logically convince the American people of their agenda (that has yet to be articulated in a clear and concise way) and subsequently loosing the government to republicans the liberal writers have gone to work to discredit any and all conservatives by making up stories, conspiracy theories, and taking things that have a hint of truth to it and blowing a gasket it over it (i.e. showing the difficulties in Iraq and calling it failure because it is difficult), Cant you see they are trying to appeal to the 2 second generation?

- Cathaleen, don't be shocked by Woodward being promoting his book over TV channels. The republicans have all the channels of the world. At least those of the USA. If there is some truth to be told to the Americans into that book, well let it be. You should rather be shocked by the tons of misleading statements told to the Americans on a daily basis by the actual administration that adopted 'BY WAY OF DECEPTION' as logo.
Woodward is showing just a part of the truth that every patriot American fully expects from the President. - Reply to this comment
- Donald Rumsfeld and *** Cheney go all the way back to the Nixon Administration. They are Washington insiders who have been working with the Executive branch for years, and feel this is essentially their turf to control. It does not surprise me why they want much of what is going on kept secret, for they have alot to loose. George Bush is a convenient figure head with no measurable intelligence, so it gives Cheney and Rumsfeld alot of latitude to take this country in any direction which will serve their interests. Rumsfeld will never resign and neither will Cheney, because they feel they are not accountable to the idiot who is sitting in the presidential seat since they are the ones pulling that dummy's strings.

- I cannot believe that President Bush has NOT been impeached. This administration is a complete disgrace to the American people. I ahave seriously been contemplating a move to another country. This is just another example of this incompetent and morally corrupt administration.
I pray to God every day, asking Him to help us stop all of this Corruption, Greed, and Terrorism.
I would hate to be George Bush , Donald Rumsfeld, or *** Cheney on JUDGMENT DAY!!! - Reply to this comment
- Catherine,
I totally disagree! We Americans ARE stupid! We are only as smart as the news that we are GIVEN, and how it is spun. The corporations that own the media make sure that we are kept "fat, dumb, scared and happy" and that's NOT easy for them. They have to gloss over the ugly parts, dilute and hide the pitiful, while keeping us constantly on guard of Hollywood's latest gossip, Paris fashions and delicious recipes.
Yes, trivial *** keeps us entertained, filtered news keeps us scared(but not too scared for us to react), and plunging gas prices (just in time for elections) keeps us happy! NOW THAT'S "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"!! - Reply to this comment
- One person, Andy Card former deputy chief of Staff, announced today on Bill Bennet's Morning in America radio program that Bob Woodward took his words out of context and misrepresented what he said. He said that he thought Woodward quote "wrote the title of the book before even starting his research." I wonder how many others will come out and say the same....

- I think that it's a travesty that America can spend 2 Billion Dollars a week in a country that we shouldn't be at war with in the first place. Innocent men, woman , and children are being killed everyday because Bush wanted their natural resources so that he and his "FRIENDS" could reap the benifits. That was the reason that Bush decided to start something that he knew wasn't going to be won in his or any future President's term. The American people are going to be paying for this failure in not only money but blood because if another country tried to take over the United States we would fight just as hard as these people are to get them out of our country. The United States needs to understand that you can't fight the battles of the world. People have to stand up and fight and if necessary die for their own freedom. The policy that has gotten the United States into so much trouble has been taking sides in conflicts when we don't know who all the players are. It's like trying to break up a playground fight. If someone hits you with a stray punch you can't get mad because you put yourself in the middle of a fight. As long as the people that make policy for the United States continue to make these foolish mistakes we, The American Public are going to suffer the consequences.

- Introducing major change in a business is complex and challenging. Now think about how difficult it is to change a country. Naturally there have been lots of problems, setbacks, and resistance in Iraq. Leaders can't be all doom and gloom. They must keep hope alive and accentuate the positive. Bottom line--George Bush is leading a major, major change. He has demonstrated great courage and conviction to fight for the principles of freedom, equality and rule of law in Iraq. Henry Kissinger is right--our only exit startegy is Victory.
