"Immelt: I think this notion that it's the population of the U.S. against the big companies is just wrong. It's just wrong-minded and when I walk through a factory with you or anybody, you know, our employees basically like us.

Stahl: They do. I saw it.

Immelt: They root for us, they want us to win. I don't know why you don't."

What do you do when the CEO visits where you work and you are expecting the visit? Do you not like him/her?

Are you serious? Crap interview(er). Also the way the interview ends seems pretty BS and biased.

GE paid no federal income taxes in 2010.

Mr. Immelt is the right man for the US jobs czar!

Profit is the name of the game for American companies and the investors want their stocks to go up!!

The key is TRAINING the work force for the global economy. I think America got side tracked with 2 wars in the past 10 years and got behind in building a high tech work force with a good set of job skills that are focused on the competitive global economy!!!

Remember the only way to keep up with the rest of the world is through training our work force and not constantly downsizing!

Regards,
Anthony (toto) Lucchese

Jeff Immelt says: "I want you to root for me. You know, everybody in Germany roots for Siemens. Everybody in Japan roots for Toshiba. Everybody in China roots for China South Rail. I want you to say, "Win, G.E."

Why do citizens of the other countries root for their country companies? Because those companies have civic pride, they take their civic responsibilities seriously and put the country's interest as high as their company interests.

Immelt is making a start by putting job creation ahead of partisan politics. Let's hope he continues to seriously consider moving jobs back to the USA.

Jeffrey Immelt's appointment as Obama's "Job Czar" would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Immelt has a demonstrated track record as a destroyer of American jobs. Immelt and GE aren't about building the jobs Americans need. He continues to benefit China not America and outsourcing thousands of American jobs.

And that's what Obama picked today to lead his election-season effort to appear serious about job creation?

Thank you 60 minutes and Leslie Stahl for asking the tough questions. Continue to probe big business and government's statistics on job creation in America.

While jobs may be created, all too often they are staffed with the same foreign "guest" workers Jeff Immelt advocates more of. Take a good look around. American workers continue to be displaced.

Notice how quickly we are sold the new world-order of business. Leslie is disarmed when told "you are afraid of the Chinese..." (p4). Immelt implies be a good patriot and be nice to the Chinese, that's where the money is, what's good for GE is good for America. 'It's a global economy' which means GE will outsource labor, materials, production and soon intellectual capital if there is a cost advantage over domestic production. All the multi-national corporations do it.

So Mr. CEO I have a question, what happens when a foreign county trespasses on GE's 'interests' overseas? Here's a likely scenario, first we re-label the trespass as a threat to U.S. interests, then the Executive sends in the covert operations followed by the Marines to protect "USA Inc". We use our kids to fight the wars, pay with our blood, and taxpayers fund the military and hospitalize the disabled. What a deal for GE.

And Obama just made this guy our stimulus Czar for the next $450 Billion.

The next time you get a haircut, ask the barber who cuts his hair, because you might need the job.

This was a very disturbing interview. When he's running GE, he can state the specifics as appropriate to a CEO: A project with China will create 400 jobs. OK. But when it comes to the American taxpayer, he suggests we need to provide corporate tax cuts with NO guarantees or accountability: "So there's plenty of evidence that says that I'm not right about that. In other words, do I know how many jobs it's going to create? I don't." When he does his CEO job, he understands accountability but as a job czar he doesn't get it. Why wouldn't the American tax payer demand the same accountability: A tax cut to a corporation must result in a specific number of jobs. This self-serving lack of public accountability is unacceptable.

Honestly? We should be more like the rest of the world when it comes to corporate tax codes? Lets talk about that after we talk about their universal health coverage.

Mr. Immelt emphasized that he is not going to apologize for building GE manufacturer at other countries such as Brazil or China because he and his corporate board have to chase their customers in those countries. Why don't we as American consumers should let companies such as GE chasing us here in America by buying only things made in America. By their own logic, they should build their manufacturers and research centers right here on American soil, shouldn't they? Protestors of "Occupy Wall Street" should have this message loud and clear so that CEO such as Mr. Immelt has to create some jobs in America in order to sell their products here. And we should register to vote and we should vote out all politicians who only care about their own jobs as well as those who are bought by corporations such as GE.

Ms Stahl let Mr. Immelt push her around for the entire interview. There were no tough follow-up questions to his Corporate spew. Where is Mike Wallace when we need him? Is CBS 'News' afraid of Corporate America? This 'interview' was a joke.

And the corporate cronies over at the Supreme Court tell us that a corporation is a 'person'? With that decision the floodgates of corporate influence and corruption of our so-called democracy will be open completely.

Out of control corporate lobbying and outrageous election campaign contributions will obliterate any chance of real regulation and supervision of corporate greed and control of our government. The fox is watching the hen house. We have reached a point where the corporation is the government, and the government is the corporation.

There needs to be justice. Greed has to be controlled, not de-regulated. The attitude of major corporations is, "If you ain't cheating, you're not trying hard enough..." The mantra in business now is not to do the 'right thing', but to do whatever you can get away with. And major corporations are getting away with murder. The middle class has been devastated.

See you at the barricades on Wall Street. And BTW, I'm a sixty-two year old guy who has worked for IBM, Federated Department Stores, and other major corporations for over 39 years.
