In the section in this segment about debutantes, I saw men in hoods behind the girls in those pictures! It looked like the KKK! Did anyone else see this? In the web version of this segment, this section is missing. I would like to see those pictures again. I'm certain it wasn't my imagination.

Duncan1979,

news flash we have an idiot as PRESIDENT that can't remember what he is saying while he is saying it, let alone from one moment to the next. It would be just a little far fetched for anyone to remember everything they ever say. Also, let also make note that Louisiana is not the only place for corrupt politicians. An "honest politician" sounds just a bit like an oxymoron to me.

Nagin's a jackass. The WTC site has nothing to do with Katrina in New Orleans, so why bring it up? After he made the comment, he said he didn't remember saying it, that all he remembered telling Byron Pitts was, "Let's be fair." He doesn't remember what he said, but he's leading a rebuilding effort. What city needs a jackass to lead rebuilding if he cannot remember what he says from one moment to the next. Would any city in the U.S. want him as mayor? I think not, but we have that idiot here. Oh, it was said that Nagin said to just give him money to rebuild, but everybody needs to remember the reputation New Orleans and Louisiana has for corruption and graft. After all, we do have a former governor in federal prison serving time for extortion, and a Congressman under suspicion for taking kickbacks. If the politicians would use their energy to do good instead of trying to line their pockets, New Orleans and Louisiana would be a wonderful place to live.

texastension - don't you get it?? If New Orleans were more white, Katrina wouldn't have hit it so hard, Bush would have waved his magic wand and the black folk would have had their fancy ball! As it stands, the Man is just keepin' them down! And that is why I am sick and tired of CBS blaming everything negative in the world on middle-class caucasians!

nolalaw,

no one understands that you absolutely can not pick up all your things and run at the sight of each and every approaching hurricane, tropical storm, etc. That is until they live in louisiana. If we were to do that, we may as well shut down the whole state during hurricane season. I am so glad to see I am not the only one upset about the questions Mayor Nagin was asked.

Facts, facts, facts. Mr. Nagin did not destroy his city. The levees that were improperly built destroyed his city.

Watching this interview is making me physically sick. People have called Mayor Nagin an idiot in these comments - Byron Pitts or whoever wrote his questions and comments is the idiot. His condescencion is not only insulting, but cruel and malicious. He asks why there wasn't an earlier mandatory evacuation, why everyone was not out of the city? Well, it's perfect timing that we have Ernesto out there heading towards us next week. Guess what Byron - and everyone else who flippantly tells us to leave - we would have to be gone already. I know - we don't know if it's coming here yet, or how bad it's going to be - but to get every person out, and to pack up our things (something else the geniuses thought we should have been able to do) - we would have had to start yesterday.

What's the story behind the people in white hoods in the pictures at the debutante ball? What's that about?

caitcour,
It is precisely your attitude that causes poverty in America today. If you truly cared and wanted to help, you would do so regardless of who the mayor is.
