How does a terrorist act compare to a natural disaster? Why not take a jab at Chernobyl?

CBS should be ashamed for giving this national joke any more air time. He is responsible for the deaths in N/O and has done absolutlely nothing but point fingers since that day. Comparing NO and NY is ridiculous. The people in the towers had no warning at all what was about to happen. Those morons in N/O sat on their lazy butts and watched a massive storm hit them and then within hours started whining about the government - you know the very government that gives them checks to be able to sit on their lazy behinds all the time - funny how that works... They were told to leave with ample time to be out of harms way and didn't. Then, they turned the astrodome into a makeshift ghetto within hours. I don't feel sorry for any of them and as far as I am concerned, they are getting what they deserve by reelecting that idiot.

I am a former NYer and I personally do not think we compare Hurricane Katrina to 9/11. I think NY has done a superb job with Ground Zero in a very timely manner. His remark about "its hole" was very disturbing to hear. Work on your City and do not worry about NY. That is sacred ground, and I dont think it should ever be built on. So Ray, take that stupid comment and stick it in your "hole".... biker4355 couldnt have said it better.

Mayor Nagin seems to forget that Ground Zero was a Crime Scene and had to be treated as such depsite the choking dust and dirt. The numbers of Dead/Injured at GZ-NY was a confirmed number unlike the bloated estimates given after both Katrina and Rita.

I am a white New Orleans resident who lost her home. I did not vote for Ray Nagin either time that he ran. However, I think he, and all of us, are getting a bad rap. Yes, there are bureaucratic problems at all levels, especially the feds (remember that it was federally designed and built levees that failed!). Yes, we have all had major headaches from insurance companies, FEMA, the SBA, and everyone else. But why isn't the city rebuilt in a year? Perhaps people who haven't been here can't grasp the enormity of the situation. More than 250,000 homes and businesses were destroyed or severely damaged. Even if we were all millionaries, all the homes could not rebuilt by now. Have you ever built or remodeled a home? How long has it taken? Were there 249,999 others trying to do it at the same time?!?

Nagin demanded at someone else's expense that he be given a room at La Mansion (one of Dallas' most expensive hotels) right after Katrina hit.
He was really suffering with the rest of the city of NO by flying back and forth on a private jet!
The guy is not an ignoramus...he is an ignorANUS...one who is not only stupid but a jerk.

This isnt about being African American or White or Democrate or Republican. This is about getting a job done and helping the people of New Orleans get their lives back. It should be obvious by now that pointing fingers is what Mr. Nagin is best at so maybe he should go get a job in the tourist district so he cant point out all the attractions to the tourist, that is after a real leader comes in and rebuilds the city that does not have any agenda other than rebuilding the city. Leaders dont point fingers or assign blame, them assume responsibility and take action. Two traits that Mr. Nagin seams to have missed the bus on.

I also feel sorry for those who re-elected incompetence in New Orleans, too bad your stuck with him for another 4 years. Someone said earlier that Katrina only highlighted what was already there, couldn't have said it better.

Since NYC has been brought up, for days after Katrina I felt Mayor Rudy G. Should be brought in to help coordinate this immense job. He did such a superb amazing work in clearing The World Trade Center.
Let's give Ray a hand instead of criticisms. In the 60's the Kennedy's did the Peace Corp, Eisenhower did the People to People Ambassador Program for teens, can we not start a Helping Hands across the nation to help out Federal Emergency areas. A kind of National Army of regular joes and janes.

the flooding of new orleans was unavoidable. how can anyone expect to live below sea level in a known hurricane pathway and not expect to get wet? every president of the last century should be blamed for allowing the city to expand farther into and deeper below sea level. no pile of dirt and rocks can be expected to withstand the power of these known seasonal storms and the surge of water they create. nagin, on the other hand, was totally responsible for the deaths and suffering that followed this natural and predicted event. there was plenty of warning, plenty of time to prepare, evacuate, set up proper comunications, supplies and equipment. instead, nagin chose to camp out in a high priced hotel suite with his croonies, ignoring the fact the approching storm could be worse than previous ones and there was more he should do. the hurricane party was his only thought. the crack pipe didn't cool off untill someone stumbled to the window and noticed the flooding. nagan flew into action, going to a nearby office depot to loot some communication equipment so as to do his job and begin to blame others. urine tests should have been performed to find the cause of this disastor
