- Dear Ms. Moriarty,
I was so disappointed in your coverage on The Yogurt Shop murders. Why would anyone bring gas to the yogurt shop to burn it? Why were there two different bullets found in the one girl's head after she crawled still alive to another part of the building? Did someone go in afterward and find her alive and shot her, so there would not be any witnesses? There is so much more to this story than the 4 girls. Others have written about it - it is suspected insurance fraud with the girls' deaths sweetening the 12 million pay out.
How could you not investigate this probably aspect of this case? What type of journalism is this, where you don't look at other alternatives that make more sense? You should do another report on this, looking at what others have uncovered. - Reply to this comment
- At the beginning of this episode it was posed that serial killer Kenneth Allen McDuff may have killed these girls, but is was dismissed on the idea that Kenneth would be proud to have done it and bragged about his actions. I knew Kenneth, and now that he is very tight lipped.
On December 29, 1991 Kenneth Allen McDuff and Alva Hank Worley kidnapped, raped, and killed Colleen Reed from Austin, TX. On March 01.1992 he kidnapped and killed Melissa Northrup. He was tried and sent to death Row, never admitting anything, until just a few days before his execution he told the Police where he buried Coleen's body.
Kenneth targeted younger petite girls for sex and robbery.
In the case of Melissa Northrup, she was taken from a small convenience store on I35 in Waco, TX. It is probable that hes was planning the same kind of scenario but did not plan on there being more people there or he could have had his sick buddy Alva Hank Worley with him. Either way, this is exactly the kind of crime that he would commit, and I think that the Investigators should look harder into Kenneth as a suspect. - Reply to this comment
- I have known Robert Springsteen (and his mother) for many, many years. He is a personal friend of mine. He has been to my home. I once remember him stopping to watch ants and not step on them...he appreciates all forms of life. He is a soft spoken, gentle, caring person.
I understand that everyone wants this hideous crime solved. I do too. But convicting the wrongs persons does not solve anything.
Think about this for a moment: Is it really possible that four teen age boys could commit such a violent crime and for eight years not mention it to someone? Or commit some other violent crime? Or any other crime? It is hard for me to believe that they would all get together one time, do this, and then lead normal lives.
I have also heard that the owners of this Yogart Shop had another yogart shop that had destroyed by a fire previous to this one. With both shops the insurance had been increased just prior to the fires. The only problem was that with the second shop the arsonist caught the girls inside and they were murdered. Has this been looked into?

- Was it just me or was the word "QUIET" spelled wrong on the interrogation room door?
