My heart goes out to the McCcans. Its not easy at all not knowing if your lovely girl is dead or alive. Lets not trade blames now, what they need most from us is our prayers despite their bad parenting habit.

Exactly, but there are always people that love to take those chances, aren''t there?

how could parents - in this day and age - be so stupid as to leave children alone like the mccann''s did?

my heart goes out to them - but i just can''t even fathom their bad judgement. i guess here in new york city we are just more aware of how things can go wrong but don''t they have television and internet where the mccann''s are from? don''t they see the tragedies that happen to people who let their guard down so drastically in regards to their children?

my 7 year old niece does not go between my apartment and her grandmother''s apartment - one floor down - without someone being at either door to make sure she gets there safely. We live in a supposedly safe neighborhood, in a safe building - but you can never be certain of everything.

I completely agree with Derkol. That is simply neglect to leave a 3 yr old home alone and they should be charged with neglect. If they had been home, Maddie would be home with them.

I don''t think alot of people paid attention to the show. 1) They do accept the fact that because they left the children alone, their child was abducted.
2)Their friend told police the night of the abduction about seeing someone carrying a child, she didn''t just suddenly say it now.
3)Just because people don''t cry on camera, it doesn''t make them guilty.

I always saw the anguish in their faces, even if there are no tears. I personally think they are innocent. I do think they made a big mistake of leaving them alone. But I can''t imagine what they are going through, not knowing where their child is.

I agree, not only does she not look upset but I haven''t seen her look directly into the camera (which is one of the reasons JonBenet''s mom was suspect, and incidentally I still believe she is guilty of that murder).
They are in another country. Maybe they don''t have laws there against leaving children at home alone. Do they? Maybe that''s why they haven''t been charged with what we in the U.S. call a crime.

I don''t believe it when people say the Portuguese are "Keystone Copes". The Portuguese police and court system work differently than ours. They keep things secret until the trial is done. I might add, Portuguese people would probably rarely leave babies alone - children are revered there. They go everywhere with their parents.

Money/class and neglect is what this case screams, in my opinion.

If a couple stayed in a seedy hotel on the outskirts of Reno, drank at a bar very nearby, but still out of sight of the room...where, unattended, twin two year olds and a four year old waited WHILE the door was unlocked, where would the mystery be?

What part of this does the world not get? These parents left their children unattended, wee children, who could have at the least had an accident as toddlers are prone to; they left them six nights in a row, alone, door and gate ajar, open to a road! If an abductor took them, whose fault is it? Hello!

I did sense your excellent reporter on the inside of The Ocean Club understood that very well, but I wish it was stressed more in the program.

As a parent of a 22 and 18 year old, I remember our family vacations, of course. I''m not saying we are model parents, but we know the basics.

We would never have left our precious babies alone in an unlocked resort room at that age, not for five minutes, not if we were at the resort bar! It''s madness!

The world has gone insane if they cannot see that.
